What things are you guilty of nicking from hotels?

I'm definitely guilty of stealing things from hotel rooms. I never go for anything overly big, usually teabags, toilet roll and the toiletries when I leave.
What are you guilty of nicking from hotels or your workplace?

You nick toilet rolls from hotels? Why would anyone do that? They are hardly expensive, buy your own!

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 13/02/2022 21:37

I usually take any remaining toiletries for my dd's! And any left over biscuits for the ds's! Never actually stolen anything that wasn't left for us!

LubaLuca · 13/02/2022 21:37

Why toilet roll?

XenoBitch · 13/02/2022 21:37

All the things you "nick" are consumables that will be replaced anyway. You paid for them when you booked the room.

Ohlalaohlala · 13/02/2022 21:37

I don’t steal anything.

Volhhg · 13/02/2022 21:37

Apart from the toilet roll the other things are complimentary so you're not stealing

flowervest75 · 13/02/2022 21:39

DP and I always take a couple of big towels just because we can😂 they’re always super long and so comfy. I love them lol

Abra1d1 · 13/02/2022 21:40

I really could not be bothered. Perhaps half a mini half-opened shower gel but that’s it.

I never take anything, I don't really see the point. Hotel toiletries don't interest me, same for tea bags. We have all these things at home.

I try and take the mattress too, but can't hide it.
Teeturtle · 13/02/2022 21:44

I have picked up and taken away pens, also the sewing kits although you don’t see them so much these days.

shakinsti · 13/02/2022 21:44

The toiletries, they're handy for swimming.

Sugar sachets because I like to carry some in my bag just incase.

So just things that we might just as easily have used during our stay. Don't think I've ever actually 'stolen' anything!

dudsville · 13/02/2022 21:44

I agree with @cheekychaplin BUT years ago I was in a horel that stocked an amazing brand of bar soap that smelled amazing. We were there a week and every day I would put the fresh bars in my luggage so we'd get more when the room was made up. I didn't use bar soap at the time. I used them as drawer scents!

EatYourVegetables · 13/02/2022 21:44

The walls, if they’re thicker than ours. The bath if it’s nice and big.

The art.

Once I stole a bellboy but I’m older and married now.

TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 13/02/2022 21:44

The tea/coffee/biscuits/toiletries are there to be used. You have paid for them within your room cost so take them!

Stealing would be if you shoved a towel or a pillow in your suitcase 😂

theremustbemorecheese · 13/02/2022 21:45

Back in the day when you could smoke inside, while at a posh resort my mum & I pinched the ashtray as a response to the ridicules over priced drinks in the bar. 20 years later I still use that ashtray & often think of the laughs my mum & I had that night.

flowervest75 · 13/02/2022 21:47

@XenoBitch not sure if you’re being sarcy or not but if we could take the mattresses home from the Blakemore Hotel in Hyde Park then we honestly would. They’re amazing

JessCat75 · 13/02/2022 21:47

Have never felt the need to nick anything from a hotel, sorry but that's very weird.

That's really, really shameful

@LadyGagagagaga123 I’m not ashamed at all hence why I posted it🤷‍♀️

Seriously? Does the hotel not contact you, or charge you for that? I have been tempted to pinch a particularly fluffy robe, but was too worried about the consequences.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 13/02/2022 21:56

Things like tea and coffee and the little toiletries are fair game, as they're single-use portions that are for your use (whether during your stay or if you take them with you).

Unscrewing the Corby trouser press from the wall or helping yourself to towels/sheets/curtains - anything that's intended for continued use by multiple guests - is simple theft. Don't hotels normally insist on credit card details nowadays? Part of the reason for that is so that they can charge your card for the goods you've stolen, if they're kind enough to do that without just involving the police.

What is it particularly with hotels that attracts this kind of theft? You never hear of people walking out of a restaurant with the table or a couple of chairs tucked under their arms, do you?

flowervest75 · 13/02/2022 21:57

@NannyOggsWhiskyStash you can help yourselves to towels and keep topping them up so it’s not like you check in with a set amount and are expected to check out with that same amount. So there’s no charges or anyone getting in touch about anything.

Tbh I expect the hotels know that some people might take things such as pillows/towels so aren’t too bothered🤷‍♀️ I probably would have just taken the robe and dealt with any consequences if it was that nice

Dutchesss · 13/02/2022 22:05

Toiletries, biscuits and teabags. Only because I assume they will be thrown away if I don't. I know most hotels are supposed to throw and replace these things in case previous guests have tampered with them.
