Why aren't we building home out at see?

There's a population crisis and a lack of affordable homes and space to build etc so how come more countries don't build out from their coasts, or actually out at see. Watching the world spin and virtually a solid half is just sea! Why aren't more countries claiming territory and building their own extensions?

Not if you're a fisherman.

hedgehogger1 · 08/02/2022 19:32

You need a more Dutch approach I reckon although I assume their dykes are going to need to get bigger

Thatsplentyjack · 08/02/2022 19:33

I'm not a very good swimmer.

Thanks @JesusInTheCabbageVan😁

@Maireas I think any sort of drugs beyond wine, coffee and chocolate would render me unconscious 😂😂😂☕🍫🍷. If MIL decides she's moving to a cruise life, reckon I could send the three kids for the summer??[/quote]
Sounds like a plan 👍

@HesterShaw1

Ok OP, do you not think that building homes at see might nudge them out of the "affordable" bracket?
Exactly.

I mean look how much extra you have to pay for a sea view when you go on holiday - OP's suggestion would be on a whole new stratosphere especially if you get a detached with a clear view in all directions.

@JesusInTheCabbageVan

I thought for a moment you said 25 year olds then...
Not quite old enough, not legally anyway 😂

Yeah but you’d save money on food bills because you could just stick some nets out front and catch fish.

VestaTilley · 08/02/2022 22:15

Are you on glue? Hmm

SleepingStandingUp · 09/02/2022 00:08

@VestaTilley

Are you on glue? Hmm
We've already established my mental state. Too many kids, too much time stuck in the house with covid and colds, not enough sleep, too much CBEEBIES. What could glue possibly do on top of that?

Would probably be a problem of rising damp.

marthasGinyard · 09/02/2022 01:10

You kind of thing Malidives style Grin

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 01:11

Wouldn’t be a problem watering the garden though!

marthasGinyard · 09/02/2022 01:21

Or enjoying a floating vodka martini on a passing inflatable Swan.

marthasGinyard · 09/02/2022 01:22

Maybe converted disused oil rigs could become a thing....

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 01:42

The neighbours will probably be a bit salty with you.

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 01:43

Instead of taking your pet dog for a walk, you could take your pet dolphin for a swim.

marthasGinyard · 09/02/2022 01:52

No balls required

Just hoops

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 02:13

It’s sounds as if it could be a nice plaice to live, especially if there are some good soles around. Of course you might get some right old pollacks living next to you, who are intent on battering you, but in that case you’d just roe to another part that is also brill. Hopefully it wouldn’t cost a load more squids. That would make you crabby!

marthasGinyard · 09/02/2022 02:31

Quite, as long as the neighbours weren't shellfish....wouldn't want to be making anenomies or anything.

Heard that Ray down stream street has bit of a sting in his tail.

Off to shore anyhow fancy a nice pike ride need to keep my mussels strong.

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 07:07

Hope you have a whale of a time on your pike ride martha

Thatbliddywoman · 09/02/2022 07:15

This is the first thread where I've truly thought 'Are you on glue?' Is a suitable reply.

NYnewstart · 09/02/2022 08:17

It cod be a good idea to bass people there but it could just be a red herring. I’m not going to carp on about the subject.
