Especially as the old man character…

@RunningInTheWind

Someone needs to do an AS and locate the thread from MANY years ago where several (!) owned up to having shagged Mr Tumble.
Here is the original thread!

CBeebies Telly Totty... Fess-up! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/1502724-CBeebies-Telly-Totty-Fess-up

Phormiumjester · 06/02/2022 22:04

My 11 year old still refuses to believe Justin is Mr T. Well, he didn't until he was about 7 and now he plays along still.

He isn't my cup of tea but I'm not three!

SchoolWillBeUpShitCreek · 06/02/2022 22:07

I have met JF. Didn't shag him.

forceofagreattyphoon · 06/02/2022 22:16

That thread takes me back. Completely forgot about the rhyme rocket 😂

Whatthefrigisthis · 06/02/2022 22:17

He's friends with my husband. He's a really nice guy and fabulous at what he does .

AmbushedByCake · 06/02/2022 22:22

There's no way my two non verbal children would have learned to communicate through signing as well as they did without Something Special, JF/Mr T literally enabled them to express themselves, so I can't ever fault that show.

Gigglebiz is appalling though.

Houseofvelour · 06/02/2022 22:29

Who else has been on MN long enough to know '50 shades of Tumble'? 😅 I can't look at him the same way now 😬

jobsagudden · 06/02/2022 22:29

I personally have a lot of time for Mr.Tumble. But you should Google Mr. Tumble car exhaust.

HailAdrian · 06/02/2022 22:30

I'm also mum to a kid with a disability and l don't think he's using anyone as a tool, I think kids watching his stuff will grow up with more awareness of neurodiversity and disabilities. Never had anything like that in the 90s iirc.

HailAdrian · 06/02/2022 22:32

And definitely agree with pp who said that if he was a good looking guy, no one would be calling him creepy.

geminiflanagan · 06/02/2022 22:33

I used to have a thing for Lord Tumble. I blame the sleep deprivation still would though

Dyra · 06/02/2022 22:34

I don't mind Mr. Tumble/Justin Fletcher. It's all the other characters that annoy me. Something Special is ok/tolerable, and I really quite like Justin's House. But Gigglequiz has me immediately reaching for the remote to put on something, anything, else. I'd sooner sit through Cocomelon....

Catra · 06/02/2022 22:35

My friend had a regretful one-night stand with him many moons ago.

Justin Fletcher, obviously, not Mr Tumble.

Cheekypeach · 06/02/2022 22:36

@Catra why was it regretful dare I ask?

OP posts:
Clymene · 06/02/2022 22:36

I hate him p, he gives me major creepy vibes and I would never watch him when my kids were young.

Catra · 06/02/2022 22:37

We tolerate Mr Tumble because my deaf three year old has picked up a lot of signing from watching him.

Blippi is the one who really grinds my gears.

whirlycarly · 06/02/2022 22:37

He's a friend of a friend. Possibly the poster above's dh Grin

He's reportedly a very kind, very private man who is fully aware of the kinds of comments he may attract and not courting of any of the attention his public facing role brings.

Phyllis321 · 06/02/2022 22:38

I like him and DS loved his shows.

Cheekypeach · 06/02/2022 22:40

I am not insinuating anything about JF, this thread was started purely to comment on the costumes/characters in Something Special.

JF if you’re reading this, I’m sorry if you think I’ve created a thread so people can imply you’re some kind of pervert or womaniser.

Catra · 06/02/2022 22:41
@Catra why was it regretful dare I ask?
Too much booze was involved and she got the distinct impression he preferred men.

Cheekypeach · 06/02/2022 22:42

@Catra I really want to ask why she got that impression but equally I don’t want to turn this into a slander thread!

OP posts:
SarahAndQuack · 06/02/2022 22:42

Yep, I can't stand him. I hate 'something special'. And I really hate the pantomime-dame character he sometimes plays.

Cheekypeach · 06/02/2022 22:43

Yes all the characters are very creepy. The bit where the ‘sea faring’ character walks onto the lawn to sing the end song is harrowing.

OP posts:
Shakespearesist3r · 06/02/2022 22:43

You're massively unreasonable. Do you know how many children with learning disabilities he's actually made smile during any of his shows. My daughter loves Mr Tumble. So narrow minded.

bellamountain · 06/02/2022 22:44

No and even if he was, he can't come through the TV. It's the creepy men you see about town. One man in particular hangs around the children section of my local library. I don't go there anymore.
