Especially as the old man character…

Love him! I can't think of anyone who does what he does. Why do people have to tear him down? Yabu.

Gigglebiz is hilarious. Love Mr Tumble too

Laquila · 06/02/2022 20:45

I've seen this kind of thread before and it usually ends up with a lot of vague-snarking/a lot of aspersions cast on JF's character, for seemingly no real reason other than people struggle to understand why a single, childless man would willingly involve himself in the children's entertainment industry and to such an extent. Personally I think it's possible he just gets paid a fair whack for doing what he's good at and kids bloody love him, so he's got a job for life 😳 but "creepy" in this context often feels like code for "why is this man willingly surrounding himself with small vulnerable children". To be fair, I can understand why some people would have reservations given Men (NAMALT!...) but still.

RedToothBrush · 06/02/2022 20:46

Really creepy. And old fashioned - and not in a good way.

I dislike everything about Justin and Mr Tumble. Something just makes me feel really uncomfortable about him.

Cheekypeach · 06/02/2022 20:46

@Laquila um, no. I am not implying that JF has a nefarious interest in children.

I mean his costumes & the voice he puts on are creepy, in the same way I find clowns & Sesame Street creepy.

I miss the days of CBeebies on in the background, it’s so gentle compared to the rubbish my kids like to watch now. Its all YouTubers smashing the place up and shouting ‘Oh My Gosh’ much more weird and annoying than poor Mr Tumble!

wevemadeitagain · 06/02/2022 20:56

My kids liked his shows when they were younger so I was happy. I’ve never met JF so can’t comment on what he’s like as a person.

But the thing that bothers me about threads like this is the underlying tone about JF’s character. I reckon if he was a really good looking man he would have reached almost sainthood by now for all the wonderful work he had done for children. But as he’s not your typical Tom Hardy (or insert another attractive actor) people think he’s creepy. We wouldn’t put up with that rhetoric for a woman.

BellesBells · 06/02/2022 21:00

YABU. I like him.

x2boys · 06/02/2022 21:03

I think I just hatedv "something special"it's just horribly patronising to disabled children as the parent of a disabled child I don't particularly want my child or others like him being used as a learning tool for other kids .

"I dislike everything about Justin and Mr Tumble. Something just makes me feel really uncomfortable about him."

What a stupid comment.

GrannytoaUnicorn · 06/02/2022 21:27

Yes he is creepy and Something Special can be annoying BUT I love that there's at least one programme that's inclusive and has sign language. Should be far, far more! What he does to make these children smile is a good thing 👍🏻

Lolabray · 06/02/2022 21:28
Smile
GrannytoaUnicorn · 06/02/2022 21:31

However, I did once speak to a hilarious man at Sky Customer Services who had a genuine, all encompassing phobia of Mr Tumble! After having a nightmare that he was being relentlessly staked by him!! 🤣
He said now, just a picture/mention of him causes his heart rate to go nuts, his palms to sweat etc. Proper phobia! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Funny funny man!

Ugh. The yelling. And my nine year old never started calling all and sundry ‘bro’ aged three watching any JF shows 😩

forceofagreattyphoon · 06/02/2022 21:35

I always see the fifty shades of tumble thread mentioned but never seen it? Did it really exist or was it deleted?

EllaDuggee · 06/02/2022 21:37

I think he's great

Vampirethriller · 06/02/2022 21:38

He's great.

thefourgp · 06/02/2022 21:39

Yabu - he’s not creepy at all. He’s great and my kids loved his shows when they were younger.

JohannSebastianBach · 06/02/2022 21:44

I found his shows a bit irritating but my kids loved them and were spellbound.

This is so true.
ArrrMeHearties · 06/02/2022 21:49

Mr tumble is a complete wankstain however I can't completely hate him as my dn is non verbal and talks to us with makaton and something special has been invaluable in getting into her world

Illdoitinabit · 06/02/2022 21:58
