This will be the one where he resigns, so if please keep the whatabout to a minimum.

OMG.
Nadine Dorries.
AKA "the state of UK politics, in one short clip."

I wrote to my MP last night, hit send, looked at this thread and read about Sunak. Frankly I'm not surprised that he was there but a bit passed off that I didn't wait a while to send it.
I did state that I had started writing it in January but had to keep changing it as its such a shitstorm.
It's a fucking sham.

thecatfromjapan · 05/02/2022 08:44

Incidentally, did anyone else here the 'ping' of a message-incoming for Dorries as she was being interviewed? Then she seemed to look to the side to check the message on another screen?

Could that have been someone messaging her with a 'line' to take? Or a well-wishing message ('You're doing great, Nads!! Keep going!! You've got this!')?

Peregrina · 05/02/2022 08:49

Oh dear, that Nadir Dorries interview was painful - is this really the best the Tory party can do?

DuncinToffee · 05/02/2022 09:02

All I can see on my twitter timeline are reactions to that interview Grin

merrymouse · 05/02/2022 09:06

Apparently we all need to rally round our beloved leader or else we'll find ourselves with tax rises

This just makes the Tories look weak. Is Johnson really the best they can do?

HalfwomanHalfcookie · 05/02/2022 09:08

Yet another hideously embarrassing interview from Nadine Dorries. What the hell is going on here?

Happygirl79 · 05/02/2022 09:17

Isn't she one of Carrie's best friends? I can't stand her. She comes across as false

DePfeffoff · 05/02/2022 09:23

@thecatfromjapan

I wonder why she was sob bizarrely defensive about the, 'Have you been in touch with the PM?' question?
I suspect she hasn't. In fact, I do wonder whether Tory Central Office is actually happy about idiots like Dorries, Bone and Fabricant doing the interview rounds: they're absolutely hopeless, they make a bad situation worse, and it really shows up the fact that they can't persuade anyone with any seniority to turn up and defend Johnson.

God forbid, of course, that Johnson should make himself available for interview, all in the spirit of complete openness, nothing to hide here, no sirree.

thecatfromjapan · 05/02/2022 09:29

Sunak getting a bit of a pasting on MN here.

Nauseating Sunak http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4471828-Nauseating-Sunak

If this is at all representative of what focus groups are feeding back, Team Sunak are going to have a task re-positioning him to make him a sure-fire vote-winner.

DuncinToffee · 05/02/2022 09:36

The squirrels are still in hiding too

Goodness. If I found myself with that mess for a husband and Dorries for best friend, I'd be seriously worried about where I'd gone wrong with my life choices.

It’s very pleasant.

One is on another thread rehashing all the same old arguments.
JustAnotherPoster00 · 05/02/2022 09:51

It just galvanises my near-lifelong hatred for the Tories, and makes me wonder how anyone can support Johnson when he is clearly callous to the point of psychopathy

Wait I can answer this one ......checks notes....yup...its of course Jeremy Corbyns fault

ClaudineClare · 05/02/2022 09:51

Nadir acts as though she wants to punch someone in that interview. So aggressive.

thecatfromjapan · 05/02/2022 09:51

So ... how do we think Sunak is going to deal with the whole being-fabulously-wealthy-whilst-presiding-over-a-real-terms-economic-avalanche-for-the-little-people thing?

Judging by the MN thread, claiming to be from a humble background won't cut it, nor will the 'he's-lovely-to-the-staff' approach.

Do we think he's going to deal with it head-on, soon?

A Commons speech, in which he talks about the fact he may be very wealthy but he acts as Chancellor for the interests of the whole U.K.? And no trace of the coming-across-as-vacuous-and-shallow empathy? Or smirk?

Or an interview saying much the same?

If you were Team Sunak, what would you do?

merrymouse · 05/02/2022 09:52

One is on another thread rehashing all the same old arguments.

Thank you other thread!

merrymouse · 05/02/2022 09:54

I think that if Johnson is brought down by parties it will be very difficult for his neighbour to explain why he didn’t say anything, but is still PM material.

ClaudineClare · 05/02/2022 09:56

Nadir does not seem to know who is chancellor.

That's Rosie Holt out of a job then.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 05/02/2022 10:06

The tory MP who won the by election on Thursday has been on the radio gloating about her 86% majority and how it's a ringing endorsement in Johnson as PM. No mention of the fact that nobody stood against her and only 20% of the electorate turned out to vote.

24%.

The Psychedelic Movement came second.

borntobequiet · 05/02/2022 10:16

I’m at the stage where I’d probably vote for the Psychedelic Movement if only to reduce the hallucinatory effect of having Boris as PM.

They can start by accepting we know that he & his family are insulted by wealth - not amount of waiting in table one summer will override that - stop smirking and then just sit back and not be Liz Truss.
