What the title says.

This will be the one where he resigns, so if please keep the whatabout to a minimum.

@FatFredsFriedEgg

An hour and ten minutes is far too long, especially from someone who was known throughout his premiership as "the grey man" because his lack of personality failed to inspire.

The headline about parties is in most of the dailies - and I got it from the BBC, not the DM.

You've not heard the speech then? Not read a transcript?

Your opinions on it are pretty worthless then aren't they?

The value of someone's contribution is entirely dependent on how many o-levels they have. If one only has 3 then one has to be ignored.

If on the other hand one has three hundred thousand, and thirty four, nine hundred and seventy four thousand then one is a well respected public figure and much admired.

In fact I am a little unsure why we bother with education past o-levels as they are the most important measure used to judge a man 60 years later.

I just saw this thread and thought jeez has he not gone yet.
It's become an in-house joke here to ask each other 'has he gone yet?'- only it's not really very funny is it.

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2022 18:08

Anyone has inside information on James Blunt and D Squadron? We are going to need that tank.

jgw1 · 10/02/2022 18:09

@Blossomtoes

But this thread is supposed to be one where he resigns, so could we perhaps slow down the quantity of posts about hazelnuts, peanuts and the like

That was a very optimistic aspiration. I suspect we may have to reach thread 12 before that happens. Johnson will have to be ejected from Downing Street kicking and screaming.

We have to live in hope.

You make 200 paramilitary murders sound almost like a good thing

Only to you @BoodyDedalus. The rest of us know @Alexandra2001 did not in any way mean that. Shame on you for saying such a thing.

Alexandra2001 · 10/02/2022 18:25

@BoodyDedalus

You make 200 paramilitary murders sound almost like a good thing

You moaned the other day about how, as a new poster, you felt badly treated.
No wonder really.

Peregrina · 10/02/2022 18:48

I think I was the one who raised Spitting Image - not to divert or distract, but merely to say that they nearly rumbled Major. Who would have thought that such a grey man would have had an affair at all, never mind keep it quiet for so long?

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2022 18:57

Cressida Dick resigning? Rumours going round on SM

DuncinToffee · 10/02/2022 19:02

CONFIRMED: Sadiq Khan says that Cressida Dick no longer enjoys his confidence and has agreed to step aside.

longwayoff · 10/02/2022 19:03

Jgw1Only thread 12? I think that's very optimistic. Fingers crossed though.

Palomo · 10/02/2022 19:06

How the hell is he still PM? This is an utter joke.

I’ve had enough of these stupid, entitled men getting away with it. I literally can’t stand any more. Imagine a woman in that position, behaving like this, blustering on and insulting the public. They wouldn’t last five minutes. How the hell has the world ended up with the likes of Johnson and Trump in recent years?

ClaudineClare · 10/02/2022 19:07

Wow. That is big, isn't it?

I’m confused. She said she had absolutely no intention of resigning two hours ago.
AuldAlliance · 10/02/2022 19:08

It's good news.
But...another woman standing down while the men cling to power.

ClaudineClare · 10/02/2022 19:10

Will it have any repercussions for the Partygate investigations?

longwayoff · 10/02/2022 19:11

Cressida Dick? I have little hope the Met will ever reform, no matter who's at the top. I hope it's not time to promote Javid's brother, surely that would be beyond a joke.

Shit. Surely they would not dare?

So am I, Blossom ... reportedly Khan says she's "going to stand aside", but given her own comments it could be grandstanding on his part

That said she probably will go, but isn't it Priti Patel's job to sack her if it comes to that?

ClaudineClare · 10/02/2022 19:13

Terrible things have happened under her watch. I honestly don't think her sex comes into this.
DuncinToffee · 10/02/2022 19:13

Maybe it was something she said in the interview this morning? I haven't heard the interview so it's a guess.

dontcallmelen · 10/02/2022 19:14

She was on BBC radio London this morning saying she would absolutely not resign has this been confirmed? I’ve only just got home.

Blossomtoes · 10/02/2022 19:16

Unfortunately the person who will appoint her replacement is Priti Patel. Fuck knows what the next one will be like.

Statement from Dick in this tweet

ClaudineClare · 10/02/2022 19:18

The Met commissioner is picked by the home secretary who has to have due regard for the views of London’s mayor, who is also the police and crime commissioner for London

This is what the Guardian says, so not wholly Patel's decision?

Dame Dick is like Maggie Thatcher in the fact that her being female has done nothing positive for the cause of women
