24 year age gap between Boris & Carrie

That is a HUGE HUGE age gap.
The pictures of their wedding day are nothing short of disturbing. She genuinely looks like his daughter.
How can she be attracted to him? What do they have in common?
AIBU to think this is generally accepted when it’s actually really weird?

I heard he knows how to party like its 2019

mirabellemadrigal · 03/02/2022 08:57

For the first time in my life, il older than the PM's wife Confused

Easternfells · 03/02/2022 09:00

I think it’s all gone to plan for Carrie, whereas he was probably just hoping for another quick affair. I have no sympathy for him, but he must miss his ex wife and their children. I’ve always imagined that Marina Johnson threw him out upon discovering he was philandering again with someone barely older than their eldest daughter, and then he had no choice but to make the affair into a proper relationship. It’s never read like a love story. I don’t doubt that he loves his 2 children with Carrie, but few men would actively want more children at his age when they already have so many.

@Sparklingbrook

I've not really given his hair any thought. It just gets mentioned a lot on here. Talk of him not owning a brush etc. Not sure why it's so important.
It's important because if Theresa May had turned up in the commons looking like she'd been dragged through a hedge backwards when she was PM, she'd have been slaughtered in the press.

Same if she had been a philandering, sexually incontinent arse like Boris is.

It's typical misogyny at play, it's also the pathetic way everyone wants to have a laugh at Boris, isn't he funny, blablabla.

Joke has surely worn thin now.

SartresSoul · 03/02/2022 09:07

I don’t think he’s appealing in the slightest, I genuinely can’t understand how/why so many seemingly intelligent women fall for him. DH said it’s his charisma, what charisma?! He’s just a blundering buffoon as far as I can see. I could understand it if he were at least handsome but there is not one attractive thing about him inside or out. He must be great in bed?

DrSbaitso · 03/02/2022 09:09

Age gap relationships don't inherently bother me. I've had a couple myself; my record gap actually exceeds Boris and Carrie's, although I didn't marry or have kids with him and never would have, and was a fair bit younger than she is now.

What worries me is when the younger partner is very very young, potentially too young to really have a mature handle on things. A 35 year old woman and a 55 year old man, not fussed. A 19 year old woman and a 39 year old man, I'm a bit dubious. Not saying it couldn't possibly work or be healthy, or that everyone over X age is suddenly mature in relationships and nobody under that age could be. But the fact that the younger partner is very very young is what I think is potential cause for concern, rather than the bare objective fact of the age difference.

These things can be complicated.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2022 09:11

IIRC everyone was going on and on about Theresa May's shoes weren't they?
I didn't realise we had to do the comparison with their hair.

Joke has surely worn thin now. I agree, and yet people still bring up his hair.

EmmaH2022 · 03/02/2022 09:13

@Nightlystroll

She was in her 30s when she married him. She wasn't a child. At what age do you think women are allowed to make decisions for themselves?
Exactly!

I know a woman whose husband is 17 years younger than her

Mum is friends with a woman whose husband is 21 years older.

There's a couple in her street with a similar age difference now I think about it. So what?

It's all of our business sadly.

Have you ever met him in person?

He doesn't suit serious environments like the House of Commons, which is only one minor reason why he doesn't belong there. In places of gravitas, he comes across as he is. Sinister, dishonest and churlish. But put him in a "fun" environment, or a less serious one, and he is very engaging and even funny and charismatic. He's still a total arsehole under it all, but in the right environments, especially in person, he can be very charming. He is an excellent after dinner speaker.

I don't believe the age gap is my business.

Why?

TheVolturi · 03/02/2022 09:23

Bloody hell, what has it got to do with anyone?

lljkk · 03/02/2022 09:25

One of my cousins has a spouse who is 18 years older.

Cousin is male. Spouse is female.

I dare say cousin gets a lot more social criticism than women marrying older men do. Just let consenting adults do their legal things, will ya'

Emmanuel Macron has been sniped at on MN for his 'older' wife, too.

SnowWhitesSM · 03/02/2022 09:28

We have so many threads on here about dhs who have unknown dc turn up after years and posters usually say what a disgrace he is ect. But yet Carrie knows he has random dc everywhere and still got with him then had two.

I can't believe people voted him in.

I really think it was more a protest vote than anything else. I knew I couldn't stand Corbyn but I didn't realise just how many other people felt the same way, and just how strongly.

None of your business

A580Hojas · 03/02/2022 09:52

I have a thing about large age gaps in relationships and was really shocked at Michael Sheen!

Like a pp I find them odd and creepy and there is definitely an element of rich and powerful men enjoying having a trophy wife - and of course there's usually an older first wife/partner in the back ground.

It comes to something when Keanu Reeves gets a load of public attention when he partnered up with someone of a similar age to him ... shock, horror!

The age gap with Macron and his wife hasn't been 'sniped' at for simply having an age gap...

THIS - 100%
Besides, Carries is an old looking thirtysomething and judging by her previous relationships, she is probably glad to have found somebody who could provide the security and the Commons - influencer power

DarkDarkNight · 03/02/2022 10:29

He obviously doesn’t mind it being brought up. It’s part of his lovable buffoon image after all. People are on record saying that he deliberately messes it up before media appearances. That’s why it matters to me, it’s a very calculated decision on his part.

That he thinks it’s at all appropriate to appear in the state he does is a disgrace. He is a laughing stock, the whole world is laughing at our PM. The previous poster is right other MPs don’t get away with it - Jeremy Corbyn for one.

SlidingInto2022sDMs · 03/02/2022 10:44

Tbf, when I look at them, I don't see an obvious 20-something age gap. Had no idea they were that far apart in age.

And this isn't a dig. I just still don't see it.

Pasithea · 03/02/2022 10:54

My husband is 20 years older been together 29 years. Would not change him for the world. Could never be bothered with young blokes and their faffing and if you can’t have children blokes your own age don’t want to know and you don’t meet someone and say hi my mpname is whatever and I can’t have kids.
