24 year age gap between Boris & Carrie

That is a HUGE HUGE age gap.
The pictures of their wedding day are nothing short of disturbing. She genuinely looks like his daughter.
How can she be attracted to him? What do they have in common?
AIBU to think this is generally accepted when it’s actually really weird?

This has been happening for centuries, women marrying odious men for wealth, power and influence, and in the past titles for themselves and their families, it's not a new thing. I'm sure Henry IIIVs wives didnt fancy him either but closed their eyes and thought of England!

Surprised no-one else has said this but I've known loads of women say that he has a charm. He is clearly charismatic, intelligent and powerful. Whilst many find him repugnant, she worked in coms for the conservative party so I'd imagine he'd be her dream man. I think the age gap and looks are something of an irrelevance

And yes, relative to the vast majority of people in this country and/or in the world, he is rich. Yes, he might not feel it because he moves in circles where people are much richer, but the fact is, he is very wealthy compared to most.

Who knows - I once knew a couple with a 35 age gap that seemed more like mother & daughter than a couple just about to get married - the younger looked like a sexy curvy Kate Beckinsale and she married a 65 year old lovely lady who on the face of it looked like a bag lady - no idea how they met or what the attraction was (certainly neither of them wealthy) but they are smitten with each other and still married more than10 years later

He would if he could see your defence of a hopelessly inadequate state. You know, the one that tried to deprive the poorest kids of free meals in school holidays and cut £20 from already inadequate universal credit.

Obviously it wasn’t better in the 19th century but for some people it’s almost as bad.

Until she allegedly claimed taxi receipts for trips which were clearly not work related, which led to a parting of the ways.

Probably quite satisfying to come back as the wife of the PM, when much much higher bills can be covered by party donors.

I expect if you were that way inclined, you could put up with a lot of custard for that kind of turn around. Persuading the Roman Catholic Church to marry a serial adulterer to his latest mistress was no mean feat, either.

Seeing off Dominic Cummings. The list goes on of opportunities which only came about by marrying a man twenty five years older and with an interesting relationship with truth and integrity.

Not so very hard to understand the attraction. They seem well matched.

Most people do not have to contend with the level of hate from the public arena alexa most people heating their homes are usually safe from stalkers/haters/activists. Money as a minimum can provide security and Boris is a target and by extension so is Carrie. So I disagree that other people have it 'harder' I think Carrie has a very difficult life being in the centre of the shit storm that has been created around them. I hope she is thinking through just how this is likely, very likely to end.

Ah, I see where your concern lies. I hope you bring the same energy to defending Harry and Meghan.

He's a millionaire earning approximately £160k a year, and that wasn't the highest salary he could have.

It's a huge age gap between consenting adults, yes. Idgaf but come on to anyone saying it's not a huge gap. He was married to his first wife when she was a mere baby ffs.

I can kind of understand an office romance between a charming older man (I’m picturing Nigel Havers or Hugh Grant) and a younger woman - the position of power, treating her well, being a man of the world etc. But Boris is just not appealing in that way in the slightest. He is an overstuffed scarecrow who just blathers on. And she married him - not even just an illicit affair which might have some kind of appeal, but saying you have to be with this old bloke forever? Weird.

Marrying him gives her security for life. An affair would give her nothing.

yea but you can still be bangable at 55, not that common but it's possible, at 70 you can't so big difference.

And his means are just fine. He'll still be earning, most likely more than he does now. One of the few times he didn't lie was when he said that he wasn't running for PM for the money. £160k per annum or thereabouts obviously isn't exactly in the shithouse, but in his circles, if money is your priority, you can do better than that.

He's definitely not PM for the money. Obviously it's the 'afters'.... Speaking fees, book deals, gong etc etc

It's their business nobody else's. I do find it odd but from the point of her, why? As opposed to him. 8 years gap is enough (ours) but as I said, their business. If I were a betting woman I might have a flutter on how long
