24 year age gap between Boris & Carrie

That is a HUGE HUGE age gap.
The pictures of their wedding day are nothing short of disturbing. She genuinely looks like his daughter.
How can she be attracted to him? What do they have in common?
AIBU to think this is generally accepted when it’s actually really weird?

Yeah I saw Martin freeman has a really young wife, I kinda lost respect for him, good actor though

I don’t get the attraction to much older men (my dh is 4 years older and that’s enough!), esp for marriage purposes. It might be ok now but when she’s 50 he’ll be in his mid-70s - an old man when she’s still relatively young. I have seen friends with much older men too 30/60 and it just looks odd, like it’s their dad. Obviously Carrie is a grown woman and she can do what she likes, but her taste is questionable!!! Good luck to her…
You're assuming that they have gone into this with the idea of staying together for life. There is no evidence that Boris thinks about marriage in this way. Quite possibly, Carrie has no intention of hanging around that long either.

Macron is 25 years younger than his wife Brigitte Macron. He met her when he was 15 years and she was his drama teacher. Do you find that disturbing OP?

I didn't know about the student/teacher thing when he first became president so thought nothing of it.

But once I learned of it 🤢

I didn't know there was this age gap, but I think it's pretty common in these "posh circles" for younger women to marry older men. They have money, power, gravitas which can be attractive even if the person themselves is repulsive.

Unfortunately for Carrie, if she thinks her husband is going to be faithful to her, she's deluded. But she probably doesn't, as adultery is also accepted and expected in these circles.

Based on the photo doing the rounds of Nadine Dorries gazing adoringly at her husband, he's probably already at it!

It's his hair, that's clearly the attraction.

Absolutely none of your business. It's not like she is a teenagers, she is in her thirties. They are two consenting adults.

Don't waste your time worrying about whether someone else's relationship is "weird".

Big age gaps bother me if one party is especially young, naive and/or vulnerable in some ways, however Carrie is fully pulling the strings behind the scenes, I believe far from young and naive. So in this instance the age gap doesn't bother me, her immense influence over the Prime Minister and his policies worries me more. I don't believe she is fully conservative and is doing a great deal of damage to the party with a woke agenda

Gosh yes, let's blame the woman for how Johnson is conducting his premiership. How trite.

I wonder if Carrie has vulnerabilities because of her experience with Worboys. That would haunt anyone.

A 24 year age gap wouldn't automatically put me off (and I'm 55 so we are talking some fairly old men!)

The fact that he's Boris Johnson would automatically put me off, even though in my case there wouldn't be much of an age gap.

I don't know why she's attracted to him, but I don't doubt that she is, and I just think anyone who could accept that package (not talking about his looks here, mainly his politics) wouldn't be my kind of person.

I've know quite a lot if men that I would never consider marrying but some woman has. We all have different tastes. I heard that he was charismatic and good company. It might be that politically he is repulsive to you. But if you share the same political outlook, which she does, that's not going to be a problem. If the stories are true, lots of women have found him attractive so he must have something about him in person.
It's not that he's politically repulsive. He is morally repulsive as he has not shred of decency. Although I suppose she could admire that in some weird way.

I've not really given his hair any thought. It just gets mentioned a lot on here. Talk of him not owning a brush etc. Not sure why it's so important.

The real mystery is why anyone of any age would want to have him as PM, not whether a young woman would want him as a partner. Desirable characteristics for a partner are more dependent on individual taste.

Hopeless at the dispatch box but fun in the boudoir, perhaps?

He has enough charisma to become the leader of the UK, after already being London Mayor and a TV personality.

He is intelligent enough to be a successful journalist and editor of a successful publication.

He is rich.

He clearly has some game going by his past relationships.

I guess these are factors that make a person attractive to another.
