24 year age gap between Boris & Carrie

That is a HUGE HUGE age gap.
The pictures of their wedding day are nothing short of disturbing. She genuinely looks like his daughter.
How can she be attracted to him? What do they have in common?
AIBU to think this is generally accepted when it’s actually really weird?

She would not have given him a second look if he was not a high profile politician...

She seems like the type of person who would do anything to get power and money and the easiest way she could find was this entitled, immature and useless liar of a man.

The fact that she is a woman does not mean she gets a free pass. We are perfectly entitled to criticise someone who has displayed a complete disregard for the public and had a part in turning the office of PM into a joke.

Yes, it is a huge age gap too.

I am constantly amazed to be honest that any woman would want to marry and have kids with a serial cheat. And one who cheated when his wife was having treatment for cancer. Just vile.

To only "VERY BRIEFLY" meet someone and yet be able to deliver such a damning judgement.

I once met Jeremy Corbyn-not so briefly-his monotone voice, general dullness and fairly strong body odour was repulsive to me but I still wouldn't deliver a shallow judgement like yours.

I couldn't believe that Laura-23 years younger than Corbyn-would want to marry Corby who has now been married 3 times.

She is no different from many women who want to snare a rich, powerful man. They share the same political beliefs and no doubt hold the same views on many fundamental issues.
As others have said she has secured positions of power and financial security for many of her friends and family. Her feet are very firmly under the table and as she has worked for him for many years, he probably needs her advice. After all , he is not the most intelligent person in the world, just a spoilt , white, rich man born into wealth and priveledge.I
Let's not forget too that she managed to persuade a Catholic priest to marry her and an adulterer who has fathered endless bastard children, committed adultery against both previous wives and the latest one involved in his adultery is the one who the priest married!! Some achievement.

He's rich, powerful, academically intelligent and in person, he can be very affable and funny. He is an excellent after dinner speaker.

He's a sinister and two-faced incompetent churl as well, but those don't have to exclude the other traits.

I find it depressing that men my age late 40s and older would ideally want to be with far younger women when it doesn’t work the other way. Feeds the whole older women being devalued thing which is quite depressing.

My friends mother is at her wits end her Dh just gone into a care home after she spent her 60s looking after him. She’s terribly sad her last decade of good health and retirement has been ruined. She’s 71 he’s 91. It’s a second marriage so they didn’t have many good years.

Wasn't that Jennifer Arcuri who doesn't seem to have noticed until after she had received grants and PR for her fledgling company ?

It's not difficult to understand why some women are happy with that kind of trade-off.

Carrie was only known as the former employee of the Conservative party who was thrown out for fiddling taxi expenses.

Now she is reasonably famous and close to the current centre of power as the wife of the PM, as PP pointed out, married in a Catholic Church to a serial adulterer, etc.

Seems they very likely have a similar outlook on life and what they each can get for themselves.

While I made different choice in life, I am mildly interested to see how her life pans out. In the same way as I might enjoy reading about the life and career of Anne Boleyn.

Massive age gaps are nearly exclusively older men with younger women and often older men ‘trading up’ from their former age appropriate partners. That always feels like a moral failing to me. But Carrie seems more Lady Macbeth likeand perfectly able to hold her own. I expect he likes a powerful Woman - he’s the type who’d enjoy a bit of hapless whimpering and scolding at home.

I voted yanbu just because I can’t stand Boris and can’t imagine anyone being attracted to him.

I imagine if he were an attractive man no one would mind the age gap as such! They are adults after all
