24 year age gap between Boris & Carrie

Bunnybunny1 · 03/02/2022 04:07

That is a HUGE HUGE age gap.
The pictures of their wedding day are nothing short of disturbing. She genuinely looks like his daughter.
How can she be attracted to him? What do they have in common?
AIBU to think this is generally accepted when it’s actually really weird?

I personally could not raise children in that environment,

Well, Cherie Blair, Sarah Brown and Samantha Cameron managed it so I don’t know what’s so special about Mrs Johnson.

user1471538283 · 03/02/2022 13:01

He has nothing to redeem himself but he does have money supposedly so maybe it's that.

My DS said that their wedding looked like her dad dropping her off at Glastonbury!

SlidingInto2022sDMs · 03/02/2022 13:02

with no cash for a nanny or help
This must be a joke.

And even though Boris earns less in salary than he did before he was PM, he has massive benefits - including financial ones - that make being a 'penniless' PM worth it all for him. Most of these politicians aren't there out of the goodness of their hearts nor are they there just to serve Queen and Country.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 03/02/2022 13:02

@Wiseupkid

In terms of her longer term finances, security and future on the backdrop of his likely infidelity. She and the children won't be entitled to life long security for instance. If he makes his millions after they split, she will have very little to live on.
There have been a couple of comments like this on here - it's simply not the case. There is precedent for divorces where a percentage of future earnings is awarded - it's rare but so is being PM.
Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 13:02

Brexit is the difference blossom

Brexit has created a massive amount of hate and division, Mrs Johnson is in a totally different place to other PM wives.

MenopauseSucks · 03/02/2022 13:04

This is where we need interview skills of Mrs Merton.

'So then Carrie, what first attracted you to the wealthy & powerful MP Boris Johnson?'

Blossomtoes · 03/02/2022 13:06

Brexit is the difference, ffs. What utter bollocks. All the hate comes from one side - the one Mrs Johnson has aligned herself with. She and her children will be fine.

SpongebobsPants · 03/02/2022 13:08

The reason I've decided not to 'scroll on by', OP, is that I honestly think it's none of anybody's business, provided the couple concerned are adults capable of making their own decisions. And I reckon I'm allowed to say that, even though I have chosen to open your thread. Personally I don't see why a woman in her fifties (me!) would find Boris Johnson any more attractive than a younger woman would find him, but that's because he's a fucking terrible Prime Minister and, it would seem, a horrible individual. But even then, that's only my opinion and it is not for me to decide who other women, younger or older, should find attractive.

Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 13:08

Really? Do you seriously believe that?

Do you seriously believe all the bollocks you’re posting?
Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 13:11

So all the hate is pure right wing hate, everyone on the left and the die hard remainers are all just lovely, soft cuddly kittens wanting the best for the world....right Confused

Are we reading the same thread? What are you talking about?
DeepDown12 · 03/02/2022 13:13

I've heard he's exceptionally intelligent, well educated and witty. If that really is the case, I can understand how and why someone would be turned on by that regardless of his looks.

SlidingInto2022sDMs · 03/02/2022 13:14

Okay I think Carrie has a friend here or as mners would say: Carrie, is that you?

SlidingInto2022sDMs · 03/02/2022 13:17

That was a reaction to wiseupkids's posts.

Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 13:21

I am not Carrie, but I can see that her life is far from a bed of roses.
My point about brexit is that they have become targets over the years, as have many MPs and their families on both sides of the house. Some have even lost their lives, personally anyone that thinks she is set up for life with a rich, powerful man is not looking that closely.

Marina and the divorce wiped out Boris. His own fault, but Marina quite rightly was not going away quietly. Carrie's work with Aspinall is hardly a career on the scale of Cherie's and she has a long life ahead of her with two very young dependents.

RonCarlos · 03/02/2022 13:21

I couldn't care less about this. A lot else bothers me about Boris Johnson.

OneTC · 03/02/2022 13:22

Didn't one of his exes say that shagging him was like shagging a bin bag full of custard?
Ewwwww.

ffs

Wiseupkid · 03/02/2022 13:23

There is a Jennifer Arcuri in every town. Enough said.

Crimesean · 03/02/2022 13:27

Boris in person can be extremely charming (I know, I know - hard to imagine!) and he's a very accomplished flatterer. He's interesting to talk to.

I mean, he's nothing to look at, and the things he says/does publicly are fucking terrible, but assuming you've got no morals maybe he's attractive to some - in terms of power, influence, wealth, fame.

Personally I think Carrie's mad - she's pretty, young and intelligent, and she's thrown her lot in with a vile man old enough to be her father, but as a 30+ year old woman she's free to choose. She's not some easily-influenced teenager. She knows what she's signed up for.

AlexaShutUp · 03/02/2022 13:36

Yes, I'm sure that there is, but I assume that Carrie is not bothered by Boris's infidelity as she wouldn't have married him if she minded. His character has never been a secret.

Let's be honest, she didn't choose him for his honesty and integrity, did she?

As for Brexit changing everything, bullshit. There has always been abuse and media scrutiny towards those in power and their families. Cherie Blair was given an incredibly hard time by the right wing press. I'm not saying it's right but it goes with the territory.

In any case, the hate that is currently directed towards the Johnsons seems to have much less to do with Brexit and much more to do with the fact that he and Carrie were having ABBA parties in their flat while the rest of the country were in lockdown. They have brought the negative commentary on themselves. More fool them for thinking that they could get away with it.

StrychnineIntheSandwiches · 03/02/2022 13:45

She wasn't thrust into an arranged marriage with Boris Johnson. She knew who she was marrying and went into the thing with her eyes wide open. And no, her Aspinall job isn't on a par with Cherie Blair's career but I'd imagine it's well remunerated for a job that probably doesn't demand too much of her. The perks of having wealthy chums who can give you these handy little gigs!

Carrie Johnson will be just fine.

BubblesThaDragoon · 03/02/2022 13:56

@AgathaGoesToHarrogate big boris fan are we? 😂😂😂😂

BubblesThaDragoon · 03/02/2022 13:59

@Wiseupkid Hi Carrie 😂😂😂

MisAnn · 03/02/2022 14:17

He's too old to still be reproducing. If women were popping out babies at his age with younger men society would have plenty to say about it.
