Is 35 too old to find ‘the one’?

Scarlettfeather · 02/02/2022 21:29

I’ve had a series of bad relationships, including with the father of my child.
He’s now 5 years old and I’m single.
I want to find someone who is in love with me for who I am, who wants to be with me and wants to spend their life with me, for better or worse.

Is 35 too old to believe I’ll find that person? I don’t even know where to start Sad

Nope, found mine in my forties (after a couple of practice runs).

Stop looking and they'll find you.

Easterbunnyiswindowshopping · 02/02/2022 21:31

I met my dh at 41. He was 31!! Been together 10 years this year. Been married 7 this year and have a ds.

weirdtimeoflife · 02/02/2022 21:32

Definitely definitely not too old Smile.

VanLife · 02/02/2022 21:32

Of course not ❤️

FloatyBoaty · 02/02/2022 21:32

I hope not!

I’m the same age as you, DS also 5. Been single since he was 6mo.

I don’t believe in “the one”, as it goes. I believe in “the one you meet at the right time and stay with for as long as it makes you both happy, which will hopefully be forever but might be 5,10, or 20 years.”

Takes some of the pressure off Wink

Spuriously17windows · 02/02/2022 21:35

Definitely not

LaPufalina · 02/02/2022 21:35

I was almost 35, now 43 with two small children and a pony

1000yellowdaisies · 02/02/2022 21:37

Definitely not too old at all :)

Katyrosebug · 02/02/2022 21:40

I was 34 very nearly 35, married after 10 months and very very happy

Whatwouldscullydo · 02/02/2022 21:42

I hope not. Or at 41 I'm screwed

CailleachGranda · 02/02/2022 21:44

Still young enough

And to the pp with the crap about stop looking and they'll come to you - that shite is never helpful

OllyBJolly · 02/02/2022 21:46

I was 44 and wasn’t even looking for a relationship - quite happily single.

esloquehay · 02/02/2022 21:47

Of course you're not too old.
Maybe work on the issues that led you to have a series of bad relationships, rather than looking for an elusive ideal to 'complete' you.

caringcarer · 02/02/2022 21:57

You are still young. I met my dh when I was 40.

thelastgreatdynasty · 02/02/2022 21:59

I hope not!!!!

Benjaminsniddlegrass · 02/02/2022 22:00

Of course it's not, many people have and do. One of my very good friends fell in love with her now fiance aged 39. Another friend met current beau aged 48.

nzborn · 02/02/2022 22:02

absolutely not

AuntyJanet · 02/02/2022 22:02

You’re definitely not too old to meet someone like you describe.

PonyPatter44 · 02/02/2022 22:03

I was 46 when I met Mr Pony, and he is absolutely the love of my life.

ShaneTwane · 02/02/2022 22:04

My aunt let the one in her 50s they recently got married aged 60 :)

ShaneTwane · 02/02/2022 22:04

Met

Viviennethebeautiful · 02/02/2022 22:04

I was 56 when I met “the one”. Still going strong years later.
You have so much time just be more choosy (sp?) than I was in earlier years.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/02/2022 22:05

Not too old.

But you do have to get out and date.

PrincessPaws · 02/02/2022 22:08

Nope, I met mine at 39. We got married last year

minionsrule · 02/02/2022 22:11

I was 35 when I met dh after a marriage in my 20's.
At that age as well you know more what you want, and importantly what you don't want.
We got married after 7 months and just had our 18th wedding anniversary (and have a 16 yo ds)
Keep the faith
