Seriously why is noone reacting to this?

Why is noone reacting to the ridiculous misogynistic and male modifying behaviour discussed and jokingly accepted by a Hollywood actress and the host on BBC 1?

RicherThanYew · 29/01/2022 02:22

Because I don't watch the BBC. What programme is this?

ForgedInFire · 29/01/2022 02:38

Because I have no idea what you are referring to?

@ForgedInFire

Because I have no idea what you are referring to?
^^ this!
TheresSomebodyAtTheDoorNeil · 29/01/2022 02:44

Because it's 2.44am, im starving because my dinner was crap so I binned it and now I lie in hungry regret. My only thoughts right now are the fact I can't sleep and arguing with myself to not order a cheeky bigmac meal and a strawberry milkshake from maccies

That and the fact I don't have a clue what you're on about.

blyn72 · 29/01/2022 02:45

What was the programme?

Spartak · 29/01/2022 02:48

Because we have no idea what you are on about.

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 02:50

I'm so sorry I was being an idiot as I had previously posted and couldn't believe noone had referred to it..I forgot to refer to the issue. I am utterly disgusted that Grahan Norton has put an interview on bbc1 that i think is unacceptable to women. I am not reactionary to things but as a victim of past male violence and really unacceptable level of acceptance of deference to men in such circumstances it really upsets me to hear an interview where an established female Hollywood star acknowledges that a male director treated her in a way she wasn't comfortable with in a public setting but she accepts it and Graham Norton introduces this as an anocdote.

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 03:02

The whole discussion about Graham Norton referring to the director dictating her life off screen that initially she mentions as reactions but then refersto how she is dressed and that she seems to defensively say she got used to. Is this really normal???

mummykel16 · 29/01/2022 03:03

Did the director do a Ben Affleck?

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 03:04

I'm not suggesting the directir/producer whoever he is is violent but the control he seemed to have within that interview just seemed beyond anything acceptable

steff13 · 29/01/2022 03:08

The only BBC show I watch is Graham Norton, but I think BBC America might be a week behind. Who is the actor and what what the incident? Did she have an issue with him discussing it (here in the US, actors agreed what they'll talk about on talk shows before they go on).

EmmaH2022 · 29/01/2022 03:11

@mummykel16

Did the director do a Ben Affleck?
This thread is like the Insomniac Mystery Mumsnet Tour. What did Ben do?

OP I didn't see it but I guess you are talking about Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar. Is it possible you misunderstood some things that were said? I see no outrage on Twitter 😂 and they've worked together loads I thought?

Hahahahahahaha

No one lol

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 03:17

My partner seemed to think unless that producer/director (whatever he was) applied the same attitude to male actors then why was I bothered or it wasn't an abuse. It depresses me that we are still at this level of understanding and that I'm faced with a partner who I thought understood my struggles of the past that might relate to the real world.. I have pointed out he has a daughter who could face this kind of ridiculous argument but he is asleep in a strop because as the director/producer (I honestly didn't hear his interview with him alone so not interested in his credentials- utter idiot is enough for me) didn't treat male actors the sane way then it isnt an issue or for it to be really relevant more than one female has to be affected

OP posts:
steff13 · 29/01/2022 03:19

So the director was violent with her and Graham brought it up why?

EmmaH2022 · 29/01/2022 03:19

OP "but he is asleep in a strop"

I am interested to know how to do this! Sorry OP, didn't see it and impossible to comment based on your info.

mummykel16 · 29/01/2022 03:21

Ben likes to grab women's breasts, still never damaged his career, not so much the young woman

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 03:22

Should an actress have to be uncomfortable with her director and told how to behave and dress off set. I dont think I have misread the interview at all. It is just sickening that women are still having to justify it when I guarantee most men wouldn't be told how to behave or dress off set.

OP posts:
vodkaredbullgirl · 29/01/2022 03:23

Never watch it, always on a night shift.

betwixtlives · 29/01/2022 03:24

WHAT are you talking about ffs, you haven’t actually made it remotely clear

MimiDaisy11 · 29/01/2022 03:32

I don’t get why you’re not being specific even with updates. It’s not like you have exclusive knowledge and have to hide names and events.

What you’re saying does remind me of Hitchcock and how he treated some women stars which was horrible. Like using cold water in psycho shower scene without telling the actress.

MrsMagnum10 · 29/01/2022 03:33

It is the Penelope Cruz interview on Graham Norton. Hearing GN ask about his behaviour towards her off ser and her say she was uncomfortable with him criticising how she spoke and dressed but got used to it. Even the director guy tries to justify it uncomfortably. It just seems very uncomfortable in the environment we live in.
