@MimiDaisy11
If it’s Penelope Cruz the director will likely be Pedro Almodovar? They’ve got a new film out. He’s gay so it can’t be sexual harassment like others have suggested though of course could still be abusive.
I haven't a clue about the details of the Cruz/director thing, but just can't skate past this as it's perpetuating a dangerous myth. NOT an attack on you
@MimiDaisy11 - just a clarification -
He’s gay so it can’t be sexual harassment like others have suggested though of course could still be abusive.
Sexual harassment & abuse is NOT about sex.
It is about power & control.
A man doesn't need to fancy a woman to sexually harass her. Because that's not why he's doing it. He's doing it to establish & maintain dominance. The fact that he's probably getting off on it as well is irrelevant.
Too many people subscribe to this myth.
Hence Trump's invidious attempt to exonerate himself of being a sex pest by claiming "It wasn't me guv, she's not pretty enough to be worth my interest"(paraphrased)
Any human, of any sex, gender or orientation can sexually abuse another. So being gay doesn't let anyone off the hook when they hassle a straight.
OK I've almost finished being humourless about this now, please don't feel 'lectured at' Mimi, it's just an important point - eg domestic sexual violence isn't because "he can't help himself he just fancies her so much" - it's about "he does it because he wants to, & enjoys doing what he wants without her consent."
Some of them, of course, are getting off because of the lack of consent. Using the transgressive nature of assault as a turn-on AND a way of punishing & invalidating a woman.
Control - see?
