@Florianus -“I am saying that people have voted for him in preference to others, in six elections now.” An error on your part, surely, to think it was Boris Johnson people voted specifically for, when many just wanted not-the-other-parties, particular policies/Brexit, or the conservative party. We do not have a presidential system. Also, of those who genuinely voted for Johnson, it is possible a significant proportion of those who voted for him because they thought a bit of ruthless, corrupt practice and lying might help get things done and benefit them personally could turn to violent disorder in future, if and when they realise lies and corruption have not benefited them after all, but only the corrupt people they voted for, as that realisation spells the downfall of both Johnson and democracy. Many people will by that point have lost faith in all our democratic systems and all mainstream media, believing the whole lot to be corrupt and self-serving, and voting to be a pointless exercise. Make their lives shit enough and you will no longer be able to rely on them being apathetic about it. Then we’ll just be another corrupt country ruled by figureheads for organised criminals (if we aren’t already).
