@longwayoff

Anyone taking bets on how many civil servants have been lined up to take the blame for Johnsons' errors? Half a dozen?
None, "we await the Police investigation before taking further action" thats many months away.

Its really quite clever how, between the Met and No10, they have completely by-passed the covid rules they themselves made.

At least but it won’t wash. All that approach will do is prolong the agony, just like the rest of the delaying tactics. As a raging anti Tory I should be delighted but as a decent human being I’m appalled.
ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 12:23

He's in the HOC 3.30pm discussing it and answering questions.

Oops! I was clearly not paying enough attention.

BUT will that be the Johnson version of answering questions or actually answering questions.

ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 12:26

MPs are not going to have much time to read and digest the report before Johnson addresses the House. Maybe it is very short.

A thousand times this^

What a state this country's in. I knew post Brexit would be bad, I knew Bozo would be a deceitful fool who can't handle the truth but I didn't envisage his endless capacity for shameless duplicity, it's up there with Donny. Astonishing.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 31/01/2022 12:38

As suspected...

BREAKING: Boris Johnson’s spokesman says he "can’t confirm" whether the parts of Sue Gray’s report taken out because of the Metropolitan Police’s intervention, will ever be published.

Prime Minister's spokesman refuses to say if public will be told if Boris Johnson receives a fixed penalty notice for breaking lockdown rules

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 31/01/2022 12:41

So he's going for the full-fat cover up.

jgw1 · 31/01/2022 12:43

@CryingAtTheDiscotheque

So he's going for the full-fat cover up.
But he hasn't done anything wrong, just wait for the Sue Gray report and any "fair minded" person will see that this has all been an awful witch hunt.

Ah yes silly me - just a bit of cake at work!

ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 12:48

I don't think the public's reception of this will go the way Johnson is hoping.

jgw1 · 31/01/2022 12:52

@ClaudineClare

I don't think the public's reception of this will go the way Johnson is hoping.
I'm sure that just like protecting Paterson from his corruption it will go exactly as Boris hopes.

(He is there as a Russian stooge to cause as much havoc as possible isn't he?).

What deeply concerns me is the tranche of population who ARE willing to ignore this disgraceful behaviour as the collateral damage part of his personality with which they are otherwise ok.

Case in point is my cleaner who also cleans for a family in a large gated private estate. Said family & neighbours disobeyed all lock down rules, kept socialising in their large gardens behind private gates. My cleaner thinks this was wrong, but shrugs and says 'it's what they all did, the posh, rich people'. AND that's it's because he's that type of arrogant greedy person, Johnson was so greedy about buying up so many vaccines which is why we are now 'doing so well'. And therefore she's willing to ignore party scandals. Oh, and she doesn't like Starmer.

Aside from the fact I despair, the thought process was eye opening.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 31/01/2022 13:07

If he gets a fpn does that mean he lied to parliament?

It pretty much does I think as it's been investigated and found that he did break the rules when he said in parliament no rules were broken.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 31/01/2022 13:22

I also think it's now providing a smoke screen for the real disgrace of financial mismanagement.

Across PPE overstock and the fraudulent payments of Covid relief funds there's £6.6bn of taxpayers money being pissed away

You could give the poorest 20% of households over £1000 each with that.

It's disgusting and I don't get why the press aren't screaming.

It's twice what is lost to benefit fraud each year. They scream enough about that.

Benefits are paid to idlers and scroungers and they should be grateful they get as much as they do.

Whereas any overpayment on PPE will have gone to hard working business people who were doing the very best for themselves in the easiest of circumstances.

Got it in one there jgw1 Wink

ClaudineClare · 31/01/2022 13:40

It is all so depressing.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 31/01/2022 13:45

@jgw1 😂 absolutely.

And the £900,000 to respray the pm's plane was essential maintenance.

It was totally right to spend £600k on lawyers defending the decision to award a £500k polling contract to Dominic Cummings & Michael Gove without a tender process.

The parties are a slap in the face to the public but they are just a hint of the corruption and mismanagement.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 31/01/2022 13:50

This fiasco is surely reaching Berlusconi levels of corruption now.

DuncinToffee · 31/01/2022 13:54

Boris Johnson will address the whole Conservative parliamentary party at 6:30pm tonight.

Will there be cake, cheese, wine or byob?

DuncinToffee · 31/01/2022 14:02

And for those of us who can't keep up, Russ Jones has it sorted

Whydidimarryhim · 31/01/2022 14:11

I’m thinking the reason the police maybe keeping hold of the report is that they are investigating themselves - the police who keep watch at the gates of Downing Street - they saw the comings and goings during this time - they saw the crates of wine being taken in - what else don’t we know they saw and did not report.

He can also f… off with his apology - didn’t Dominic Cummings apologise but still lost his job.
He must be so happy that Russia is upping the stakes and he has a big distraction.
They want us to hear - Nothing to see hear - move along now.
The contempt I feel for that man - a minimum of 17 parties have been investigated.
People are losing faith in the police now -
The police have the evidence - why aren’t they acting.
It’s yet again another whitewash.

Florianus · 31/01/2022 14:11

For those who have time to watch, the PM is making a statement in the Commons on the Sue Gray report after Education Dept questions (which start at 2.30, in about 20 minutes).
