@22itsallnew

Do you recall the Tweet the official Civil Service tweet on 24/05/20:

Arrogant and offensive.

Can you imagine having to work with these truth twisters?

Quite.

As an ex civil servant, that quote has stuck with me. The timing is even more telling now.
ClaudineClare · 26/01/2022 14:22

Call-me-Churchill did not "wipe the floor"with anyone. He blustered, prevaricated and waffled as usual. He really is not very good at the despatch box.

@Figgyroller

Every NHS worker I know spent lockdown lunches having to eat outside (generally shivering) eating food from home. *@JaniieJones* do you actually KNOW any NHS workers?
That sounds a bit much. I've had many medical appointments over the last two years and not once have I seen NHS staff outside eating. There is such a thing as over egging the pudding.

I saw him being decribed as "chemically” excited

Nasty words for nasty people, derxa

Cornettoninja · 26/01/2022 14:29

@derxa going to an appointment isn’t really the best view of what goes on in an average NHS workers day.

I worked in a hospital during the three lockdowns and many people chose to go and outside to eat, particularly when the weather was pleasant during the first one. Our break room was limited to two people at a time (and contained the printer), we were allowed to eat at desks but expected to get on with it and then masks straight back on. A fair few people chose to go outside or to their cars.

Does going around insulting people help you in everyday life?
ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 26/01/2022 14:32

@JaniieJones

'It's not about parties and cake. This is about the morals and decision making quality of the people who want to make the biggest decisions for our country.'

It isn't. It is about a Cummings led media witch hunt to get revenge and get him out.

Eating and drinking at work was never not allowed. Everyone I know in the nhs said the staff room was full of people chatting and having takeaways every single day people doing tiktoks etc. People weren't all sat in solitary confinent wearing hair shirts.

If any civil servants overstepped the mark and there is evidence of actual parties fine sack them.

Anywayyyy, BJ wiped the floor with whiny 'but party!' Starmer. Again.

I don't care who is driving it.

Work was only allowed face to face if essential. That was the law at the time. A birthday party and a garden party we're not essential work events. They were social. Therefore illegal.

Then they lied to parliament.

They cannot be trusted to run the country. They are morally bankrupt and make us a laughing stock.

Haha you must have been listening to a different PMQs to the one I heard!

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2022 14:37

The 'he is a Lawyer, not a Leader" is not going well for Johnson Grin

the80sweregreat · 26/01/2022 14:37

Chemically excited ? !! Really ?
Oh dear.. ( will this be the final nail in the coffin if DC has evidence of any these type of allegations? Not the first time I've heard these rumors / allegations on here either to be honest )
..
If this was a bunch of people on a council estate somewhere behaving as they all do at times then they would be vilified as ' chavs' or worse ( by the daily Mail )
Seems that the news people are all freezing their mikes off outside number 10 waiting for this report . I wonder if it'll be today ? Or all in vain.

derxa · 26/01/2022 14:44

@derxa going to an appointment isn’t really the best view of what goes on in an average NHS workers day. An appointment? I've been for dozens of appointments. Anyway I don't begrudge any NHS staff having a sociable lunch together. They work together.

longwayoff · 26/01/2022 14:50

I don't do derail the thread arguments derxa, so keep your opinions to yourself. Or spout on, whichever you feel shows you in your best light.

QueenOfHiraeth · 26/01/2022 14:52

@Notonthestairs

I think breaking the law & then lying to Parliament in order to cover up are serious accusations to be levelled at anyone but especially to the Prime Minister.

It's not about cake, cheese, wine, suitcases , broken slides or any of the other flim flam that is used by Johnson supporters to deflect.

Agree with all of the above but I am concerned by reports that most of the leaks are coming from or orchestrated by Dominic Cummings. That sounds plausible to me as they seem to be being drip fed every time things start to die down. I don't trust BJ but I trust DC even less
ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 26/01/2022 14:54

As you were.

Yes I do. Staff rooms were full of often donated food, free pizzas etc. If you sit shivering outside you should've complained. Seriously staff areas were open in most if not all areas.

Of course people at work still needed to eat. Ditto civil servants.

DuncinToffee · 26/01/2022 15:01

Whilst waiting, more Matt Green, Ambushed with a Cake?

Me too. I’ve just watched it, just more bluster about Brexit and vaccinations. Starmer was at the top of his game.
jgw1 · 26/01/2022 15:05

It's a sad position when your defending him for things he's admitted grin

Boris probably doesn't know he admitted it, and perhaps he admitted it for less than 25minutes, so he wasn't really at the admission.

SueSaid · 26/01/2022 15:06

'Me too. I’ve just watched it, just more bluster about Brexit and vaccinations. Starmer was at the top of his game.'

Grin

He said what they are focusing on. What counts. Ukraine was mentioned but only by BJ.

Starmer was like a rabbit in the headlights. Up down up down..ooh was he allowed to speak oh hang on let's wibble a bit more. He has no presence, no command. It was just cake cake cake zzzz..

It's WORSE than that. At least you know when Christmas is coming.
itsgettingweird · 26/01/2022 15:13

Just rewatching kier Starmers speech in PMQs. He hits the nail on the head.

"Does he not understand the seriousness of the fact Sue Grays report led the Met to agree to investigate".

It's just that. He doesn't understand the seriousness. He still thinks he's in the Eton common room having a jeering debate. This is beyond pantomime and performance now. This is beyond wanting the kudos of being PM.

Just the difference is the calm factual manner of kier starmer compared to the stammering laughing from Boris shows up so much.

I love that Kier changes it from pantomime circus to courtroom drama!
