Horrified at 7month old in pizza express with screen

I went for lunch today at pizza express, there was a couple giving their ?7month old a bottle with a screen propped up with something Disney to watch. They then plopped baby into high chair and put something else on during whole time at the stable. How can people be so stupid! The baby was looking around elsewhere for something more interesting.

@Fhjutftjvddww yes you're continuing to prove my point well.

Keep hoiking...

KurtWilde · 22/01/2022 21:56

*too

Fhjutftjvddww · 22/01/2022 21:58

@KurtWilde

Oh do at least try to understand….

Sorry I'm far to 'uneducated' to do that

BA (Hons) WOW!
flyingdream · 22/01/2022 22:00

It's hard being a parent.

Mariposista · 22/01/2022 22:00

Makes my skin crawl to see a young child gawping at a screen. Unacceptable lazy parenting.

KurtWilde · 22/01/2022 22:02

BA (Hons) WOW!

Oh I know! I can tell you're impressed.

Aren't you just a peach.

Ricksteinsfishwife · 22/01/2022 22:02

For me kids should have all different types of stimulation and entertainment, Inc screens. Can’t get why some folks are screeching “screens” and running round their living rooms with their pants on their heads.😂 you’d think the parents had given the kid used heron syringes to play with.

Screen time can be very educational for a child, used in moderation. Nc a baby.

Piglet89 · 22/01/2022 22:04

@Fhjutftjvddww

Ad hominem: argument weak. That bitchy little post kind of debases any actual points you were trying to make, TBH.

Justgettingbye · 22/01/2022 22:06

I wonder what's seen as worse on mn baby eating kale and quinoa but watching a screen or baby eating chips and not watching a screen Wink

Piglet89 · 22/01/2022 22:06

@Justgettingbye

MIND. BLOWN.

Goldbar · 22/01/2022 22:07

Sometimes we can't give 100% to our children. Sometimes we need to 'warehouse' them safely so that we can get on with doing other things that need to be done. Children can't always be at the centre of everything. So long as they come first most of the time, it's not going to hurt them if they don't have optimal interactions the whole time.

"BA (Hons) WOW!"

I don't think someone who generated their username by smashing their face against a keyboard is in much of a position to judge anyone on education.

Haha that’s actually amused me
teaandchocolate1 · 22/01/2022 22:09

Why do people always judge other people's parenting?

Is it to make themselves feel better about themselves and their choices?

I have a 17 month old and I notice how much judging is going on, it's insane.

I agree and it's worrying how many people think it's normal.

MrsGinnyM · 22/01/2022 22:12

I'm not saying that there are trolls on the thread, I'm really not, but there are certainly goady, argumentative sorts. Feed them if you like - propped up screens optional. Wink

stmw321 · 22/01/2022 22:13

@Teddybar no not 'everything else is fine' but I find it very hard to feel horrified over a baby with an iPad. Hmm

SynchOrSwim · 22/01/2022 22:14

I'd judge. I'm glad most people are trying to excuse it though as it makes me feel like lots of middle class Mumsnet mums probably let their kids use screens more than I do!

Norgie · 22/01/2022 22:18

I can honestly say that my kids never even saw a tablet or phone etc, let alone watched them when they were babies or toddlers.

But only because tablets, mobiles and the internet hadn't been invented. 😁

I'm always confused by those who think most on MN are middle class

The only content I see are absolutely not middle class - the heavy poverty porn is the proof of thus

Because some people actually give a shit about children even if they're not their own
GrannytoaUnicorn · 22/01/2022 22:21

@Foldinthecheese

This won’t go well, but I agree.
Why?? I have a child with autism & ADD. It is quite literally the ONLY way she will stay calm in public and not become overwhelmed! It's not about 'behaviour' or using a screen as a 'babysitter' ffs! Get over yourself
WindyState · 22/01/2022 22:21

Yeah.... it's got nothing to do with giving a shit about other kids and everything to do with feeling superior.

Yumperwumpee · 22/01/2022 22:23

Yeah...no, it isn't that.
