AIBU to think that people asking for their covid fines to be refunded are being ridiculous?

They still breached the rules.
Everyone who attended the government parties should also be fined but anyone who got fined at the time knew what the were doing.

People don't ask for their drink driving fines to be paid back because famous people are caught doing that too.

I think also OP probably started this thread without an understanding of how flawed the whole covid regs enforcement system was.

I agree. I'd completely forgotten/underestimated the lack of understanding and incompetence of a lot of enforcers earlier on in the pandemic and the inconsistency between forces.

Fair play for acknowledging that.

All fines should be quashed as the rules at the time were obscene and heavy handed.

And for those saying the police didn't know the rules and fined incorrectly, well to expect the public to know rules that they don't is disgusting. Remember we had police chiefs wanting to examine peoples shopping. To even have to quash the the coffee one is wrong it shouldn't have happened at all.

Notice people who had all the information about how dangerous it was available were eithier shagging around( Hancock and Neil fergussen and who seemed to leave SAGE but seemed to be back in it month after) or partying.

The celebrities are punished though, when has a celebrity been caught and no punished for DUI? And the celebrity wasn't the person who created the laws.

This is not comparable at all.
