Does anyone go into Labour naturally anymore?

Ok tell me if aibu. But I am 31 so lots of friends and family having first babies, out of the ten the past three years only ONE has gone into Labour naturally. Is this normal or are healthcare providers too quick to induce?

I had a failed induction leading to a cascade of intervention including a emergency C-section where I haemorrhaged and then had an infection.

We were both in hospital over a week. I was only induced as I was overdue but my cervix was so unfavourable they couldn't even do a sweep so I perhaps am quite biased.

I did at 37 weeks

Cardio101 · 07/01/2022 19:52

I did, first baby at 39 weeks

crazycatlady7 · 07/01/2022 19:53

I did with my DS, 39 +6.

DelurkingAJ · 07/01/2022 19:53

I’ve done twice at 42 and 41+7. I was early to mid 30s.

FriendshipsAreHardForMe · 07/01/2022 19:53

I did at 40+0.

Caliexpidocioussuper · 07/01/2022 19:53

Twice at 39+10 and 39+5

NatMoz · 07/01/2022 19:54

I did at 40+0 weeks. Although after 19 hours it did lead to emergency c section.

TwittleBee · 07/01/2022 19:55

I did at 28 weeks

Daisychainsandglitter · 07/01/2022 19:55

I did with both at 40+2 and 39+6.

Darbs76 · 07/01/2022 19:56

I went into labour naturally with all 3 of mine. Most of my friends have had at least 1 C section

Frazzled2207 · 07/01/2022 19:56

I did twice. Second time was very late, 40+10

Chely · 07/01/2022 19:56

Had spontaneous labours with 2nd, 3rd and 6th. 1st was induced before due date due to high BP and 4/5 were twins so evicted at 38wk which is pretty normal for twins.

1stTimeMama · 07/01/2022 19:56

I went in to labour naturally 4 out of 5 times. I was induced with my last and had her 30 minutes after they started, I was already dialated when I went in, and was home 4 hours later.
I was only induced as I had her during the lockdown last year, and if my husband were to be with me, it needed to be planned so my parents could travel to be with the other children.

Chely · 07/01/2022 19:57

Longest ours have gone is to 40+5, was 1cm at 39+6 too the lazy arse.

Lancrelady80 · 07/01/2022 19:57

Twice. 39+6 and then 29+1.

We could very much have done without the second one deciding to start naturally!

Horst · 07/01/2022 19:58

Out of three I had a sweep with one that’s as un natural as it got.

Bicnod · 07/01/2022 19:58

I had spontaneous labours with all three of mine. Although DC3 went 12 days over and I would have been induced the next day if she hadn't decided to show up.

GettingStuffed · 07/01/2022 19:58

I did with my second. They'd actually decided to induce me but I was already 7cm dilated. Needed to be induced on the others because I had preeclampsia.

Tamtam86 · 07/01/2022 20:00

I did with my first, at 38+5
(second was a c section as he was footling breech)

Eileen101 · 07/01/2022 20:00

I did, at 40+4 and 39+6.

The only person I know who has been induced was because of gestational diabetes 🤷🏼‍♀️

October2020 · 07/01/2022 20:02

I did at 32 weeks.

LivingNextDoorToNorma · 07/01/2022 20:02

I went into spontaneous labour with my first, born at 39+3. Currently 38+2 with my second, and hoping for similar this time.

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 07/01/2022 20:02

I had both mine spontaneously at 39 weeks. Both were precipitate (abonrmally fast) labours though!

Out of the 5 in my NCT class with DC1:

1 c section
1 induction
1 spontaneous labour ending with forceps delivery
2 spontaneous labours with no significant interventions

wineandsunshine · 07/01/2022 20:03

I had all four without induction! Three late/one early Smile

hertsgirls · 07/01/2022 20:03

I did with both, I know what you mean though. When I think of friends/acquaintances a very significant proportion ended up with either induction or elective c section.
