New year new ideas please!

Ours had got to the stage of something like this...:

  1. burger and chips
  2. pork loin steaks veg and potatoes
  3. sausage, mash, peas and gravy
  4. curry and rice
  5. pizza and chips
  6. take away or eat out
  7. roast

I need to mix it up, eat less meat and more veg.

Would you mind sharing what an average week of dinners may look like to you?

This week-
-Home made fish pie
-Vivera (veggie) kebab with wraps and salad
-Village chicken- lovely recipe with chicken thighs, macaroni, greens and haloumi
-Chicken stir fry
-A pasta dish with whatever in fridge! Usually brocolli, peas and some kind of cheese
-Tomato risotto with garlic bread

Loving the ideas on here, not sure mine is valuable to anyone but:

  1. Chunky soup and 'nice' bread
  2. Lasagne/spag bol/mince in a Yorkshire
  3. Chicken Kiev and green veg
  4. Baked fish and veggies
  5. Pizza/takeaway
  6. Vege sausage, mash and veg
  7. Something egg based - vege omlette/crustless quiche, garlic bread and salad.
So we only eat meat twice a week or so but have fish too. (Although both kids have school dinners so get meat in there) and I don't have a lot of time (like everyone) so they need to be quick!

I love this thread. This week on the menu:

  1. Asian chicken mince with salad
  2. Steak with cauliflower mash, burnt butter green beans, steams broccoli
  3. Frittata (mushroom, red capsicum, spring onion, leak) with salad
  4. Oven baked lemon salmon with stir fry greens
  5. Vodka pasta (low carb pasta) with mesclun salad
  6. Veggie sheet bake (mix of leftover veggies roasted in olive oil and good salt)
  7. Chicken roast with roast pumpkin and steamed veggies.
AaronBurrSirr · 03/01/2022 09:48

Monday - Chicken and veg green thai curry
Tuesday - salmon tray bake
Wednesday - risotto
Thursday - Spanish style chicken bake
Friday - filo fish pie
Saturday - lamb tagine
Sunday - roast chicken, fancy bread and salad

Thurs, Fri and Sat are from ‘diet’ cookbooks, just to try to be a little bit healthier post Christmas. Wednesday risotto is a standard here to use up everything lurking at the back of the fridge!

NightOwl19 · 03/01/2022 09:49

This week ours is like:

Homemade vegetable fajita pizza
Spaghetti ragu
Vegan burger and homemade chips and salad
Stir fry with noodles
Curry with rice
A little ‘tea’ such as poached eggs on toast
Homemade kebab

Plantstrees · 03/01/2022 10:08

My typical week winter or summer is:

Sunday - Roast
Monday - leftovers with salad, bubble & squeak
Tuesday - pizza or pasta with salad
Wednesday - Jacket potato fillings vary each week eg. tuna/cheese
Thursday - Rice, curry, noodles or spicy stir fry dish
Friday - Fish
Saturday - Shepherd's pie, casserole or bbq in summer or go out to eat

My salad days tend to be back to back (Monday and Tuesday) so everything is fresh. Mid-week meals are easier. Fish can be anything from takeaway fish and chips to a fish pie depending on what I fancy and how much time I have. If I make a shepherd's pie or casserole I make enough for two meals and freeze one to save time the next week.

3WildOnes · 03/01/2022 10:10

Sunday Roast dinner
Monday stir fry with meat from roast and vegetables
Tuesday Pie with meat left over roast and veg
Wednesday Spaghetti Bol
Thursday Spaghetti Bol
Friday Home made pizza and salad

Saturday Curry with meat and veg

teatime9999 · 03/01/2022 10:36

I do meal boxes, fully vegetarian. We are on Gousto at the moment because it's relatively cheap and there are lots of veggie options, but there are other companies. When I'm not getting the boxes, often I just take old recipes and make them myself.

teatime9999 · 03/01/2022 10:42

OK, so I realise I wasn't that helpful. Here's what a week might look like for us using our boxes:
Mon - Chickpea and vegetable curry
Tues - Lentil enchiladas
Wed - Miso aubergine with sesame rice and pickled cucumbers
Thurs - Veggie burger with chips
Fri - Quorn escalopes, broccoli and rice
Sat - Pasta with arrabiata sauce and salad
Sun - Dinner at MIL's house

LolaLouLou · 03/01/2022 10:44

My next seven days is:

Tonight - veg curry with naan. This is a cheat recipe with a store bought tikka masala sauce and loads of left over veg.
Tommorow - spaghetti bol from freezer
Then Tescos arrive followed by:
Weekday roast chicken with roast pot, veg etc.
Stirfry with leftover roast chicken
Baked potatoes with beans / tuna / cheese
Chicken Enchiladas
Risotto

I am trying hard to be economical by batch cooking veg soup for lunch.

zingally · 03/01/2022 11:00

Just had a look at my plan for this week.

M - Tuna pesto pasta
T - ham, egg and chips
W - steak and kidney pie w/ mash
Th - chicken kiev & rice
F - treat night (I usually grab something "special" from Waitrose or M&S on the way home from work)
Sa - Pizza
Sun - Soup and cheese toasties.

Not doing anything fancy this week, as you can see!!

angieloumc · 03/01/2022 11:04

This week ours is;
Monday, vegetable pasta bake
Tuesday, Chinese (once a week we have a treat, DD 17 back at school tomorrow so her choice)
Weds; braised steak, mashed potatoes and veg
Thursday; fish cake, new potatoes and green beans
Friday, homemade soup with crusty bread
Saturday, quiche Lorraine, wedges and salad
Sunday, roast chicken dinner

One of my New Years resolutions that I'm determined to stick to this year is meal planning. Good to get inspiration on here!

im34 · 03/01/2022 11:37

Ours is

Tuesday cauliflower cheese
Wednesday spag bol
Thursday chicken stuffed with cream cheese with new potatoes and broccoli
Friday mushroom and leek pasta bake
Saturday pizza express type meal
Sunday roast
Monday nachos

Feelingoktoday · 03/01/2022 12:16

As soon as posters start saying “oh my god that is so unhealthy” I lose interest. Why knock? I love a homemade burger and home made oven chips. With a salad it’s ok. You don’t know the posters so don’t judge. The OP wasn’t asking for health advice from a load of randoms who are on their phones on MN.

Muchmorethan · 03/01/2022 12:22

Spag bog
Lasagne
Enchiladas
Tuna pasta bake
Cod cooked with chargrilled peppers
Homemade chicken pie

Muchmorethan · 03/01/2022 12:23

Warm chicken salad

Muchmorethan · 03/01/2022 12:25

Pizza AND chips? Is this a thing? I have never heard of anyone having chips with pizza.
