Anyone else's Christmas cancelled?

To be really bloody upset and pissed off about the fact that my husband has come home from work ready for two weeks off and has just tested positive for covid when doing a LFT.

Anyone else's Christmas cancelled?

Our tiny baby is also poorly with bronchiolitis and I'm scared that he will catch it now too.

Honestly i am so sad for all the memories we are going to miss making this Christmas.

I am so done with this crap.

Sad

Yes totally fed up. Adult son tested positive, car packed having picked up Xmas food then we find out we’re not going. Second year running, both adult son and daughter tested positive Xmas Eve 2020. Want everyone to go away 😞

nosleepgang4life · 23/12/2021 19:55

I'm sorry @marmitencheese it is really shit 😢😢😢

Ugh! Nothing to add but sympathy all round x

TattiePants · 23/12/2021 20:01

We're in a bit of a limbo at the minute. DD tested positive on Saturday so all plans were cancelled. With the isolation period dropping to 7 days we've just done a day 6 LFT and are praying it's negative then plans might be back on.

Hope your baby is ok.

TinySaltLick · 23/12/2021 20:01

Exactly same situation, tested positive on lft two days after last day at work until Jan. All plans cancelled and stuck inside isolating with toddler. Haven't been able to finish Christmas shopping, get enough food in the house, all in tatters.

Disappointing but it is what it is, I'm not dead so it could be worse. Hopefully will feel a bit less ill tomorrow!

OneTiredMouse · 23/12/2021 20:04

Yes! Same over here & feeling thoroughly miserable about it!😩

marmitencheese · 23/12/2021 20:04

Sorry to hear about your poorly baby @nosleepgang4life feeling a bit overwhelmed

RoastedParsnips · 23/12/2021 20:05

Not cancelled, but stuck without my family for the fourth year running and they're sending me photos through on WhatsApp and it's breaking my heart slightly even though I should be happy they are all together.
Be glad it's just one year folks. Smile

DroopyClematis · 23/12/2021 20:06

Third year running that I can't see my elderly, frail mum.
Son has tested positive.
Utterly gutted.

nanbread · 23/12/2021 20:07

Apparently 600,000 people are isolating, so I'd guess it's messed up about 3 million people's Christmases.

Gooseberrypies · 23/12/2021 20:07

Why did he do an lft if he’s finished work for Christmas? Or were you planning to go elsewhere that required one?

SameToo · 23/12/2021 20:08

Yep. DH isolating upstairs. 5 days in, I’m exhausted but me and the children still negative so that’s good!

DeckTheHallsWithGin · 23/12/2021 20:08

Changed at short notice. Teen got positive pcr so we can’t go visit family 2.5 hrs away. Had an emergency turkey crown in the freezer luckily. Gutted as it’s the second Christmas we won’t see them due to covid. Just hoping the rest of us don’t get it next.

IpanemaPeaHen · 23/12/2021 20:09

Positive household here (from school) but coming to the end of our isolation and feeling better. Still not going to risk seeing parents on the 25th. It is rubbish, hope your baby is okay.

Waterfallgirl · 23/12/2021 20:09

Probably me ! Positive lateral flow yesterday still waiting for my PCR result. A GP friend just messaged me to say that results are taking longer due to case numbers. My dad is sitting at home with his suitcase packed to come here but can’t set off until I get a negative !

AlbertBridge · 23/12/2021 20:11

Us! Teen DS is positive.

RussianSpy101 · 23/12/2021 20:12

Us.
Me, DH and DD positive this evening on LFT.
My parents are already isolating. Our eldest son is vulnerable so I’m praying he doesn’t get it, but it’s doubtful he won’t.

x2boys · 23/12/2021 20:13

Yeah both my kids have COVID, and Dh is displaying symptoms ,and my throat is feeling a bit scratchy ,we can't get LFT,s anywhere,we are all self isolating now anyway

Lindy2 · 23/12/2021 20:14

That's very bad luck. I'm so sorry.

I hope your DH recovers quickly and that the rest of you avoid it.

Make the most of just chilling at home without the pressure of going anywhere or doing anything.

There will be other, better Christmases.

Sallycinnamum · 23/12/2021 20:16

Yep DD tested positive Tuesday as did most of her year 5 class.

Had to cancel my elderly parents coming over but the rest of us have tested negative so far so trying to look on the bright side.

Luckily we anticipated this might happen so my parents has got some extra food in and my mum is currently cooking up a storm and will drop off some goodies for us tomorrow (on the doorstep obv).

My DC were so looking forward to spending Xmas with their grandparents as was I but it is what it is.

Sorry its worse for some of you. Its so unbelievably shit.

collywobble · 23/12/2021 20:21

Yes DD tested positive. Partners adult daughter was coming to stay with us for Christmas today so had to cancel her train. Absolutely devastated as we don't see her often as she doesn't get much time off work.

isitxmasalready · 23/12/2021 20:25

DH tested positive on Monday, me yesterday. Teen DS still negative and we are keeping away from him so he doesn’t catch it. We were supposed to be flying to the Caribbean for Christmas on Sunday when symptoms started so we made the decision not to risk going. Turns out it was the right decision as we could be stuck there now not able to get back without a negative test. Trying to make the best of having Christmas here whilst distancing from DS!

Powerpotpie · 23/12/2021 20:25

Oh that makes me so sad to read this! I’m so sorry for everyone that have had to change their plans this Xmas and won’t be with loved ones - it really is so tough!
Fishingforhappiness · 23/12/2021 20:30

Us too.

Myself and DD 6monyhs have been ill for 2 weeks with cold symptoms- LF all negative PCR negative.

DH felt snotty monday- 2 x positive LF and a positive PCR.
FIL has terminal cancer. He is unlikely to see another Xmas. It breaks my heart we wont be with them and share DD first xmas. I so wanted her to have a big family xmas. FIL Is very upset.
DH also was positive last year so we had to share our pregnancy news on facetime. I'm heartbroken for the second year running and it keeps getting worse 💔

A580Hojas · 23/12/2021 20:30

We were due to see Pil and other inlaws on Boxing day and possibly my Mum in the week after Christmas. The two teens and DH are all ill (lateral flow tests negative) but with snot, temps, sore throats all round. Not going to risk sharing any of that around our ECV older relatives, whether it's covid or not. So Christmas isn't exactly cancelled but it's a quiet one at home for just the 4 of us (same as last year).
