Anyone else's Christmas cancelled?

To be really bloody upset and pissed off about the fact that my husband has come home from work ready for two weeks off and has just tested positive for covid when doing a LFT.

Anyone else's Christmas cancelled?

Our tiny baby is also poorly with bronchiolitis and I'm scared that he will catch it now too.

Honestly i am so sad for all the memories we are going to miss making this Christmas.

I am so done with this crap.

Sad

My brother has tested + for COVID and will be spending Christmas alone instead of coming back for the usual family get together.

Takemedown · 23/12/2021 20:34

My dc have developed symptoms today. Lft was negative and pcr booked for tomorrow but i can't see us getting the results back in time to make our Christmas Day plans.

theneverendinglaundry · 23/12/2021 20:35

🙋‍♀️

3/5 of us tested positive this morning. I'm so over this shit. Christmas plans all cancelled.

I had my booster 2 weeks ago so am hoping it will stop me catching it, then at least I can go out and get food.

Auntieobem · 23/12/2021 20:36

Ours isn't covid related - our fabulous dog has been diagnosed with meningitis and is currently starting steroids 2 hours away from home. Hopefully we'll get her back Christmas day. Plans up in the air.

Campfirewood · 23/12/2021 20:37

Not Christmas but I missed one of my oldest friends getting married abroad, and it was a once in a lifetime holiday, and I got bloody covid having avoided it for 2 years.
So I’m alright now, but the isolation is rubbish and I was very sad! I tried to think positively in that I, and the rest of the family weren’t that ill, so I tried to think how fortunate we all were. Flowers

carlyswirly · 23/12/2021 20:39

We're missing a family celebration and Christmas with family we rarely see for the second year in a row due to a positive pcr.

Freakily bad timing given what we had planned and the fact we've managed to avoid Covid this long.

TheMilkyWeigh · 23/12/2021 20:41

OP if your husband is off work for two weeks just postpone the festivities. The baby is too young to know any different.

DirtyDancing · 23/12/2021 20:41

@Waterfallgirl

Probably me ! Positive lateral flow yesterday still waiting for my PCR result. A GP friend just messaged me to say that results are taking longer due to case numbers. My dad is sitting at home with his suitcase packed to come here but can’t set off until I get a negative !
On this one I'm sorry to say.. stand him down. Positive LF.. you've got it. Less likely to have a false positive LF, then a false negative
Yuledo · 23/12/2021 20:41

Teen ds is still having faint positive lateral flows despite being on day 9, so can’t risk mixing with family if he doesn’t get 2 negatives 24 hours apart, so still up in the air here.

Hadjab · 23/12/2021 20:41

@x2boys

Yeah both my kids have COVID, and Dh is displaying symptoms ,and my throat is feeling a bit scratchy ,we can't get LFT,s anywhere,we are all self isolating now anyway
@x2boys you can order them from gov.Uk
StFrancisdeCompostela · 23/12/2021 20:42

I’m so sorry Flowers I hope your husband and baby are both ok

WeRTheOnesWeHaveBeenWaitingFor · 23/12/2021 20:44

Yes we have covid so me DP Dd and DS will stay at home this year. I was feeling sorry for myself when one of my mates messaged to let me know she’s got it and it will mean she’s completely alone for Christmas.

Fastforwardtospring · 23/12/2021 20:44

@Auntieobem your poor dog, hope treatment is successful and you get to be together soon💐

Hopelesslystuck · 23/12/2021 20:46

Yep me too! Sympathies everyone, it is absolutely shite. First Christmas as a single mother in our new home and all 3 of us have tested positive. It’s been a super shitty year and I allowed myself one down day to cry over the big family Christmas we had planned. But we aren’t too sick, the children are here with me and Santa in the middle of the isolation period will give us a boost!

nosleepgang4life · 23/12/2021 20:48

I'm so sorry to everyone who is in the same boat as us.

Trying to look for the positives (there are plenty) but it is nice to just have a moan I just admit.

Sending lots of love to all xxx

@TheMilkyWeigh I wish we could but all our family will have gone back home by then :(

yes, I have been all week in bed with COVID and isolating until 28th.
Managed to get supplies in, so not too bad.

So sad to read some of your stories, especially those not seeing new babies or terminally ill relatives. Hugs to all of you.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/12/2021 20:51

Today, on the 28th anniversary of my father’s funeral, DM was diagnosed with a lymphoma. We’re meeting the cancer care team tommorow.

DedafalalalalalusBloom · 23/12/2021 20:52

Yep DH tested positive this morning, just waiting on a PCR result to confirm. He's triple jabbed and I'm double jabbed but I've been ill with other things so was waiting to get that out of the way before getting my booster.

Had to cancel on my mum which she's not happy about. We've got a fridge full of food for 5 people but she's having to fly out and cobble together Christmas for 3 people now.

It's shit. We didn't see them last year either and Christmas is normally such a happy easy fun time in our family.

SuPerDoPer · 23/12/2021 20:59

If you're all positive anyway your mate could come to yours for the day. Presuming she just drives straight to yours and back she won't pass it to anyone who doesn't already have it.
CouldThisReallyBe · 23/12/2021 21:05

Yep. Me and DS fine, but the friends we were due to be spending Christmas with are positive so it's just us (again)!

Boogaloony · 23/12/2021 21:05

Not quite the same as covid here but I've had plans for feeding 9 Xmas Eve, 12 Christmas Day then 25+ Boxing Day and I've just come on my period an hour ago. I've got endo and fibroids and very irregular cycles where my uterine lining gets really thick. So I currently feel like I've got a meat grinder going inside my pelvis and have thrown up I'm in so much pain. I've got family and friends trying to find me a cheap tens machine and some mefanamic acid to try to bring it under control. Day two is the worst by far so it's likely that I'll be curled up in bed texting instructions to my DH while he tries to salvage Christmas dinner. Luckily I did have a back up plan and got some ready made sides as I just knew something would go wrong.

I am very sorry for everybody on here that had covid and has had their plans ruined.

nosleepgang4life · 23/12/2021 21:07

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads I'm so very very sorry. Hugs for you Thanks

@Waterfallgirl I had a positive lft and subsequent negative pcr… also got the results in about 36 hours (Scotland though)

Thepineapplemystery · 23/12/2021 21:08

Ours is looking very, very different to what we had planned!
