Do PCR test results come back overnight?

I had a PCR today (first ever time) and was just wondering if anyone has ever had any results come back overnight/ before 8am?

I’ve had nothing as yet

Whenever we've had a test, we've had them done before 2pm and always had the results back by 9am the next day. some came back as early as 4am.

Fairly unlikely unless you are NHS / social care worker which get done separately

Yes, we've had loads and they come back as emails at all hours although the text messages seem to be held back to send around 7am (presumably to not wake people)

Yes I've had them come in at 6.30am before, it totally varies though depends how busy they are and lately has taken longer

Yes. Last one I had was around midday and I received the result at 6 o'clock the following morning.

I've had texts at 5 or 6am before

4pm test, 11am result next day this week.

I've PCR tested a few times and the results have nearly always come back in the early hours

DH tested at a site at 4pm on a Sunday and had the results 6am Monday morning. Very impressive.

Had one come through at 4.30am but only received it because I was awake, normally my phone holds texts until 8am

Yeah DD has had a few tests usually around 9/10am each time and results have come back between 1am and 6am the following morning. Once positive and others all negative.

I've had results at 11pm, 1am and 6am.

9am tests came in at just before midnight by email but not till gone 6am by text. Each one I've done has been late at night/early hours.

I’ve had a few overnight, the earliest was about 2am. They came through on email then the text followed at around 7am

I should’ve said I am an nhs worker

I’ve had a few at drive in centres, and if I have them before about 10am, I get the email before midnight same day. If after 10am, usually comes by lunchtime the next day.

I had the PCR at midday

Pretty fast turnaround

Last one I did was around 10am and the text came through 6am following morning

We’ve taken most of ours 10/11am and had the results back at 7am next morning but last lot were had text messages through at 1am and then the emails at 7am. Agree with pps think the emails are held to save waking people

Ours were don't 4pm Sunday, results 2.30pm Monday for 3 of us. Dh - nhs staff - didn't come in till 4.30pm...

Thanks everyone v helpful, I’m going to go to sleep and set an alarm for the normal time I would for work. If a negative result is back by then I can go in, if it’s not back I can maybe go in later and I highly doubt and hope it’s not positive.

Should’ve said^ will go in later if it comes back negative tomorrow morning at some point

Did had her test at 8.45am and results arrived by email at 1.07am. Student not healthcare.

Yes, we've had them come through at all times of the day. The last two have been taken just before midday and we've had results back through just after midnight.

My son did his at lunch time and got result 6am next day
