Do PCR test results come back overnight?

I had a PCR today (first ever time) and was just wondering if anyone has ever had any results come back overnight/ before 8am?

I’ve had nothing as yet

I’m in the UK

There's a post on coronavirus page, I'm still waiting about 50+ hours later, I've usually had them back the same night/day😩

Posted one yesterday lunchtime, nothing yet except an email reminding me to send it back. Looks like I’m on weekend lockdown too. Annoying since I’m about as sure as I possibly could be that I don’t have Covid.

Privately (for travel) we got our results before we reached home. We hadn't paid for express service

Sometimes. We've had a lot this week!

Ours this week (as a family we've done 8 so far)

First set, 4 tested, three back in 18 hours (one pos, one neg, one inconclusive) and one back in 30 hours, negative

Second, inconclusive retest, 43 hours (negative)

Third, symptomatic test, 34 hours (positive)

Fourth (retest for the two of us yet to succumb due to household contact ) 30 hours, both negative

That's it for us now I hope, unless my son or I develop symptoms.

Depends where you are and the nhs trust youre with, i had mine at 10 am and got results by text at quarter past 11 that night, they generally will get your results as soon as possible

Ours have always come back by about 11am next day, apart from DH who did one first thing in the morning and got it back by midnight.

I had one a few weeks ago at 5:30 pm. I got the result thr next dat at around 9am

60 hours, 2.5 days later I've finally got my results at 5am.
Thankfully was negative so I've locked myself away for nothing.

Woke my Dp up though with an ITS NEGATIVE ! 😂

I'm still waiting. I rang them this morning and they "can't locate my results" so basically they've lost my test!! I can either re-test or do the full 10 days isolation. Even if I re-test today I won't get results till Monday poss tuesday and if I do the 10 days I'm out on Thursday. It's shit.

The PCR I did yesterday morning came back at 11pm so might be worth getting another one done at a test centre.
