Do PCR test results come back overnight?

I had a PCR today (first ever time) and was just wondering if anyone has ever had any results come back overnight/ before 8am?

I’ve had nothing as yet

Mine did. Test at 9.30am Wednesday and had my result via email at 3am Thursday morning and a text at 6am.

Test went in the post Tuesday afternoon. I am yet to hear back. West Mids.

Does anyone know about postal tests. Mine was posted Wednesday morning and still not had a result yet.

We sent one Tuesday and I’m still waiting.

I'm in the North East, walk in PCR 8am yesterday and results back 3am this morning

We've had them first thing in the morning the next day

We posted postal tests on Wednesday before the last post at 5pm and received them back early this morning before waking

I just phoned 119 @DukkaDukka Might be worth you giving them a ring, too - they have opened an investigation into the missing result for me, though it might take another 3 days

But unfortunately, I'm not sure other people's experiences are helpful as there's so many variables in demand and between providers and test methods (drop off, postal, drive through etc).

We had the results back within about 10 hours during October for a post holiday 2 day test - we went to a local site to do the tests, they were picked up by courier shortly afterwards and the results came through at about 2 am.

But then DP had to have a test a couple of weeks ago due to an outbreak at work (not healthcare) and his results took about 45 hours to come back.

I'm in PCR test purgatory at the moment. Took a home test on Wednesday, still no results yet. Looks like I'm cancelling all my weekend plans

It’s random me and DH went to test together yet my results came back hours earlier

DC was tested at 6pm yesterday and result came through at 7:30 this morning.

Between us we've been tested several times and that's by far the quickest, it's usually been around 24 hours.

Just got my result (neg) - well worth phoning up.

Depends how busy they are!

@WellBuggerMeSideways thanks, I have done and it’s still being processed. I’m expecting it to be positive because of the positive lateral flow and because my other DC have covid anyway! Glad you’re negative.

We have had text all times of day and night. Emails come first though

Mine always took 24 hours or less.. the last two took 28 hours. Drive through in south east england

I wonder if it was the same testing centre? I live 2 mins away from my one in the car and they are normally so quick @Hdkatznahtw125sgh but this time have taken ages. I’m not sure if it’s taking that wee bit longer as they are looking for the new variant maybe? Thankfully it’s wasn’t for me.

All results in my local area seem to be coming through at 6/7am

Mine usually take about 24 hours from testing but the one I did this week was 48 hours. Drive through centre.

@NoPointInWednesdays it probably is (there’s not many drive in on the W coast of Scotland 😆)and it was very busy but I was hoping to have a result by now

Last one a few months ago I had at about 6pm, the results pinged at silly o'clock the gommowing morning 5-6 am I think.
Obvs will take longer if you posted it back.

Recently we've had 3 tests around 2pm which all came back before 7am. Then 2 at 5pm which came.back around 11am so around 18hrs each time.
