Do PCR test results come back overnight?

Hello

I had a PCR today (first ever time) and was just wondering if anyone has ever had any results come back overnight/ before 8am?

I’ve had nothing as yet

I’m in the UK

I have done three in the last two months. 34 hours, 23 hours & 22 hours respectively. SW.

Untrue. I work in a school & have had several PCRs - all of which have come back in the early hours!

Done a test at 8pm last night still waiting on my results. It’s always been so quick before this is the longest it’s taken so far. Think it also depends on where you are I’m west of Scotland.

One of ours this week took 3 days - posted around 9am Monday and just got negative result text 7am this morning! No idea why it was so long.

I’ve been tested twice in the last couple of months and both came back at around 6am, about 12 hours after the test.

We’ve recently tested youngest DS twice, both times went for a 9/9.30am test and crossed fingers for a result before school the next day, and got it. Last one came in about 4am. I was pleasantly surprised as the PCRs I’d done before then all seemed to take about 26/27 hours.

I got tested in a Tuesday at 6pm and received results on Wednesday 6pm (ish).

I got tested Wednesday at 10.30 am results were texted at 6.15 Thursday morning

Yep - I've just had mine through by email now (positive!) at 1 am Thurs morning, having posted the test back midday Tuesday. No text though, as others have said I guess that will be sent at a more reasonable hour.

That’s me just had my results through 1:29am positive results txt and e-mail so 29hrs. Fingers crossed you get yours through quicker.

Well I’m awake 😂 and praying the results come through soon so I can go to work. I’m at the point of illness where sitting at home dwelling on it is worse than being at work. If my results don’t come through I will ring my doctor reg an apt for my anxiety though and it will be a productive day

I had one last Saturday afternoon and the results came in at 6:20am Sunday. I was very surprised how fast they were. (Negative thankfully).

From what I can see from responses my best hope of 6am ish results would’ve been a 9-10am test. Mine was early afternoon unfortunately.

Anytime up to 8am would be fine for going to work.

I had a test at 11am yesterday morning. I had result via email at 1.40am and a text at 6am. I'm in the north east

Yes, we had results for my son after 11pm but they were emailed then a follow up text at 8am

Does anyone know about postal tests. Mine was posted Wednesday morning and still not had a result yet.

For drive through tests mine have generally come back around 14 hours later and have arrived during the night/early morning (very handy as have had test after school for close contact and negative in time for school the next day several times)

@jingletits36 I did a postal test last week, got the test in the post on Thursday afternoon, posted it back immediately after doing it. Result came through on Friday night just after 10pm. I work in a school so not NHS but still "keyworker" so I had a purple label test.

@UndeadSlut that's quick, mine should have gotten there by Thursday morning at the latest and still haven't heard anything...
