To wear a bikini now I am a mum

I am at Centre Parcs and it's my first time visiting since becoming a mum. I have noticed that about 95% of mums in the swimming pool are wearing a 1 piece swimming costume. I am in the minority as a mum wearing a bikini. Have I broken an unwritten mum rule?

Seriously?

PurpleDaisies · 02/12/2021 18:33

Wear what you want

I’m not sure why you were so bothered about what everyone else is wearing.

Anycolourwilldo · 02/12/2021 18:34

I don't think anyone cares what you wear. If you're comfortable in a bikini, go for it

GertrudeBElion · 02/12/2021 18:34

Wear what you like, you're the only one who actually cares.

namechangeobvs1988 · 02/12/2021 18:34

I’m sorry but what?

MummyDummyNow · 02/12/2021 18:35

I wore a bikini first time i went to Center Parcs and it for somewhat dislodged in the rapids! Confused I wore a one piece the next time Grin

PurpleDaisies · 02/12/2021 18:36

Is this a not very stealth boast?

MummyDummyNow · 02/12/2021 18:36

Sorry for typos, you get the gist hopefully!

BigSigh2021 · 02/12/2021 18:37

Is this a stealth boast about how great you look still in a bikini?

Chely · 02/12/2021 18:37

It's about comfort so wear what you feel confident in.

I wouldn't have my jelly belly in a 2 piece, would struggle to see the bottoms with my overhang after 5 pregnancies (inc huge twins) and 2 c-sections.

Anonymous48 · 02/12/2021 18:37

Is this seriously something you're giving any thought to? Get a life!

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2021 18:37

1 piece is just some much easier when faffing about with children in the changing rooms etc.
But that said, wear whatever you like.

BIWI · 02/12/2021 18:38

FFS.

Wear what you like, when you like.

There are no rules.

MartyHart · 02/12/2021 18:38

One piece is probably better for water slides. There's no mum rules I've ever heard of.

SickAndTiredAgain · 02/12/2021 18:38

Have I broken an unwritten mum rule?

A written one actually, did you not get the list? The bikini rule is just between the rule about not having long hair, and the one about never doing anything nice for yourself.

Bigfathairyones · 02/12/2021 18:39

The only thing I ever wanted to wear in the pool at CP in December was a heated wetsuit. Effing freezing. Heated rapids my arse...or in this case, possibly yours if you're wearing a bikini bottom on the slides Grin

BiscuitLover3679 · 02/12/2021 18:42

WOW the replies on here are depressing. Get a grip.

I dont know op, I know what you mean about people dressing differently. I think it might be a confidence thing. I actually feel a bikini is more practical. Go for it! And hopefully it'll encourage others to do the same. :)

irregularegular · 02/12/2021 18:42

Funnily enough, I've only started wearing a bikini over the age of 40! Was always a bit self conscious when I was younger. Only recently disovered the joys of having less wet cossy to deal with! I hate pulling up a wet swimming costume after going to the loo. Bikini bottoms so much easier. Though you need a fairly secure fitting top if plunging out of the bottom of a slide.

Wear what you want basically. I'm 50 and happier in a bikini than I've ever been! Not been arrested yet.

doadeer · 02/12/2021 18:45

I think swimsuits are just more in fashion now wear what you want

2piecetrouble · 02/12/2021 18:47

Thank you for the sensible replies. Certainly not a stealth boast just a new mum struggling to navigate a new world desperately trying to fit in.

I think it’s probably less about being a mum and more about the location? I see bikinis as more of an outdoors beach holiday attire for sunbathing etc, and one pieces for an indoor family pool where you might be going on slides and running (or not running poolside!!) after the kids etc, more practical. But each to their own, and everyone should West what they’re comfortable in.

ChimChimeny · 02/12/2021 18:51

I'd wear a bikini if I wasn't planning on going on slides/rapid otherwise I wear a one piece to stop me flashing by accident Grin

GertrudeBElion · 02/12/2021 18:52

Then the best advice I can give you is stop giving brain space to crap like this.
Hoppinggreen · 02/12/2021 18:52

When I gave birth the first time I was handed a sensible black one piece swimming costume as I left the hospital

BIWI · 02/12/2021 18:53
