To wear a bikini now I am a mum

I am at Centre Parcs and it's my first time visiting since becoming a mum. I have noticed that about 95% of mums in the swimming pool are wearing a 1 piece swimming costume. I am in the minority as a mum wearing a bikini. Have I broken an unwritten mum rule?

I just wear a one suit when I'm with my DS because he has a lovely habit of yanking on my clothes and I wouldn't trust that bikini bottoms or tops would be secure enough to withstand it!
Plus at centre Parcs a bikini is dangerous on the rapids as my poor mother learned to her horror (accidental flasher)

BIWI · 02/12/2021 20:56

Is it really that unreasonable to check if you missed a fashion trend?

Putting to one side the fact that missing a fashion trend really doesn't matter, that isn't what the OP was asking about!

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 02/12/2021 20:57

Ha ha no! Anyone can wear a bikini!!!

DeadoftheMoon · 02/12/2021 20:59

Never let anyone - even unintentionally - put you off wearing what you want to wear. This is your own life and it might be the only one you get. Bloody well enjoy it.

Sportsnight · 02/12/2021 21:04

Is it a time of year thing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dunno. You do you OP.

NC6789012 · 02/12/2021 21:05

Im proper fat at a size 20, I wear high waisted bottoms and a proper strap'em down bikini top with 2 primary age DDs. I deffo missed the memo!

divface · 02/12/2021 21:49

Hi h?

divface · 02/12/2021 21:50

I used to wear bikinis but now i have a big fat blobby stretchy, lumpy stomach i prefer to hide

Cocomarine · 02/12/2021 21:52

@2piecetrouble

Thank you for the sensible replies. Certainly not a stealth boast just a new mum struggling to navigate a new world desperately trying to fit in.
It’s still the same world. Stop trying to fit in, especially desperately. Life is too fucking short for that crap!

Erm it's December... who would want to wear a bikini in the UK? Mum bod or not?

Fomofo · 02/12/2021 21:54

Indoor swimming pool

museumum · 02/12/2021 21:55

Carrying an older baby / toddler about in a bikini is just asking to flash boobs/nipples. Fair enough if you don’t care but despite bf for a year I preferred to be in control of how and when I exposed myself.

JurgensCakeBabyJesus · 02/12/2021 21:56

I wear a short sleeve rash vest and bottoms boy short or normal pant type, mainly because last time I wore a swimsuit my very grabby DS flashed my boobs for the world to see...

It's not cold in a Centreparcs pool area!

Aren't they all called tropical world or something?

eurochick · 02/12/2021 21:59

Slides, rapids, small grabby children, body consciousness post children...

Surely it is not that difficult to figure out?

BrocolliFloret · 02/12/2021 22:03

I wear a bikini but it’s very ‘upholstered’ and underwired, with quite a lot of coverage, including a folded over waistband.

Definitely not the triangles and string type!

I figure the less cold, wet fabric clinging to you the better. I never understand why parents put beach sun suits on kids in an indoor pool. No wonder they end up freezing!

The people saying she’s stealth boasting are actually just jealous I think 🤔
I know what you mean I felt like I had to wear a swimming costume when I became a mum because most other mums did🙈 last week I thought fuck it & wore a bikini in the kids pool.. I think it’s in our heads I don’t think anyone even notices or cares xx

Udouhun · 02/12/2021 22:17

Huh? Wear what you want. No one gives a shit.

PurpleDaisies · 02/12/2021 22:17

Why would I be jealous? I often wear a bikini myself.

Her657844 · 02/12/2021 22:19

Centre parcs there’s a lot of slides and rapids that might be why no one wears a bikini incase of minge flashing..

Dillydilly01 · 02/12/2021 22:24

I am a mum of three teens and I've never worn a bikini at Centreparcs, but I always wear a bikini on holiday's abroad where it's sunny. The same using a pool anywhere with weather similar to the UK, always a swimsuit. Hot, sunny weather abroad - a bikini.

iusedtoloveopalfruits1 · 02/12/2021 22:27

I prefer a bikini but only cos I have massive
boobs so I can get a top and bottom that both fit well.
Just with they didn’t cost a small fortune mind you!

doodleygirl · 02/12/2021 22:29

Even as a new mum you have to be you, wear what you feel most comfortable in and have a lovely time.

Sharletonz · 02/12/2021 22:31

If you've got it, flaunt it. Why are you so concerned about what others think. Get on with your business and enjoy your post partum bikini bod.
