AIBU to feel really annoyed after seeing the trailer for Giles Coren’s new series on BBC2

Last year Giles mocked the death of Dawn Foster, a disabled journalist from a working class background, which caused additional distress to her grieving family. He has never apologised. It is possible to cancel your Times subscription or to not buy the newspaper, but we all pay our TV license fee and the idea of it funding the salary of such a spiteful silver spooner and for him to go partying around five star hotels really, really irks me. Why has he faced absolutely no consequences? Why is he still in print and on TV? Piers Morgan was forced to resign for saying he didn’t believe Megan Markle saying she was suicidal. Surely laughing at someone’s premature death and hoping that they go to hell is much worse than that?

Is there some sort of BBC forum I can complain to? I’m not even going to mention his terrible sex scene writing.

Surely every adult has learned through growing up that if you say something purposefully mean, someone is going to say something meaner back. That's why it's a good idea to watch what you say.

I didn't interpret. That was her tweet, that just because his dad was famous, that didn't mean he had anything worthwhile listening to.

She has multiple tweets about Coren going back years, it wasn't just the one. As far as I can tell he has never (directly) mentioned her on Twitter before, although hard to tell now because he deleted his account.

Skip the show and read this instead about Giles Coren vs. Dawn Foster. Of course you can say what you like but so can he. You might view him as a mysoginist and you can say it. Equally he might think you're the devil incarnate and should go to hell and he can say it.

This has already been discussed on MN. The conclusion was that Cancel Culture is poisonous. Leave the man alone. Don't watch the programme if you don't want to. Other fee paying viewers will enjoy his show and are entitled to watch it

I get the hate for Giles Coren (he is vile), but the hate towards Victoria is uncalled for. She's far from talentless and is a delight.

I’m glad it’s not just me who is annoyed about the Amazing Hotels trailer and the fact Giles Coren has faced absolutely no consequences for his abhorrent behaviour. One of Dawn Foster’s friends is encouraging people to complain to the BBC and her Tweet is getting a lot of likes and retweets.
