A universal necklace you can always wear?

I have never been much of a jewelry person but I am slowly converting. I would love to pick out a delicate (timeless?) necklace I could wear everyday and with any outfit but I really don't know where to look for one.

I have a white gold engagement ring so would probably like to go along the lines of a similar metal to not contrast it too much. So silver or white gold probably.

Where does everyone go for their jewelry nowadays? Any good online retailers or high street stores worth looking into?
Or even better - considering my taste can be questionable - any actual pieces that are nice?

I have one similar to this one but the two larger rings are joined by small ones, in my case three for my three kids. I've only had it a year (silver anniversary present from my dh) but have worn it every day and still love it. It seems to go with everything and I love the symbolism behind it.

Got this for my daughter's 18th. It's simple, modern but classic, and she's my wee bean. She wears it a lot.

I've been wearing this everyday lately. I've become slightly addicted to Gemporia after a recommendation on mumsnet, and they are offering 40% off at the moment.

I wear a single string of white pearls everyday, they go with everything and feel nice to wear.
They never dull or tarnish and match whatever metal is in my other jewellery.

My everyday necklace is a
White Gold Crucifix I never take it off.
I know it's not everyone's choice but I love it.
I do wear longer costume necklaces sometimes.

I wear Tiffany's Elsa Perreti Diamonds by the Yard necklace every day. Because it's not a pendant and it's very flat its easy to wear. Either the single diamond or the multi diamond one is great.

DH bought me the Georg Jensen Infinity on our 1st wedding anniversary. I've worn it pretty much every day since.

Depends on your style I suppose. Try Etsy?. I wear the Alex Monroe bee necklace I got from my husband and find it goes with everything.

I like Tiffany's jewelry. But wearing the same thing every day is boring.

I have a Monica vinader nura baroque Pearl on a silver chain and I wear it most days.

I have a Maya Brenner (dupe) initials necklace. Absolutely love it. Haven’t taken it off since I received it.

I got the Tiffany Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard necklace for my 30th this year, in platinum. I will never need another diamond necklace, it’s iconic, classic and goes with everything.

I have a silver cockle shell pendant I bought from a silversmith at a Christmas market 10 years ago. It goes with every outfit and I always get a lot of compliments on it.
