A universal necklace you can always wear?

I have never been much of a jewelry person but I am slowly converting. I would love to pick out a delicate (timeless?) necklace I could wear everyday and with any outfit but I really don't know where to look for one.

I have a white gold engagement ring so would probably like to go along the lines of a similar metal to not contrast it too much. So silver or white gold probably.

Where does everyone go for their jewelry nowadays? Any good online retailers or high street stores worth looking into?
Or even better - considering my taste can be questionable - any actual pieces that are nice?

I have my eye on this as I too looking for one for everyday:

Or the Elsa Pettit bean - can't decide.

Perreti Hmm

Lanique · 27/11/2021 07:33

And I've just spelt that wrong 🤦‍♀️

Mine is a silver Cross, very sturdy even though it looks delicate. I rarely take it off (sleep with it on) and I love it! Cost me the absolutely extortionate amount of £8 on Vinted Grin
Maybe have a look at second hand silver as it is ridiculously inexpensive so you could buy a few and then choose a favourite.

Third the Rust London recommendation, I have the most beautiful delicate necklace from there that I’ve been wearing everyday for the last 4 years. One of the designers has started their own company now called Only Through Shadows, I haven’t bought from them but it all looks gorgeous.

Dainty Rocks jewellery.

Mainly bracelets but she will do necklaces too.

I wear my bracelets 24/7, to bed and in the shower.

Fantastic service.

@ginsparkles

A simple diamond pendant. Classic, elegant and timeless. I only take mine off when I am swapping it for something more dramatic for a specific outfit.

Try Emily Mortimer , www.emilymortimer.co.uk/collections/necklaces
My husband bought me the Cosmo gold lemon quartz last Christmas and I have worn it so much

I wear this one every day and love it:

@SelfHelpPlease

This is my every day necklace. Its not something I could afford usually but decided to treat myself after working my butt off being a key worker. It also has engraving on it.
This is the one I’ve got. I’ve worn it pretty much every day for 20 years so the initial expense was worth it. Mine has a long chain so I can double it up to make it shorter depending on what outfit I’m wearing.

Elsa Perreti small silver bean from Tiffany for me. Had mine for over 20 years and still love it

riotlady · 27/11/2021 17:19

@MrsTimRiggins the Cornish bluebell stuff is lovely! Have just sent the link to DH as a Christmas hint xD

Sexnotgender · 27/11/2021 17:21

Monica Vinader is my go to for timeless necklaces.

My favourite. I like that the necklaces have an adjustable length.

TSSDNCOP · 27/11/2021 17:26

I have a Elsa Perretti "J"from Tiffany.

VikingOnTheFridge · 27/11/2021 17:30

Roughly what budget OP?

3peassuit · 27/11/2021 17:33

I wear a round cut solitaire diamond on a platinum chain. Classic and suits any outfit or occasion.

TurquoiseDragon · 27/11/2021 17:35

A lot of these pieces are nice, but I couldn't settle on just one item. I make my own costume jewellery as a hobby for myself, and I'm regularly making, changing and mixing stuff up to suit myself, as well as mending mine or other people's stuff.

I have the open heart and never take it off. DH bought it over 20 years ago and I still love it - so very cheap per wear!

@Crepuscularshadows

Georg Jensen silver. Infinity or moonlight grapes are both light and beautiful (but they're also really expensive). I love the Nina Ditzel 2021 reissue as well but I'm pretty sure it's not worth a month's wages.
I love Jensen! My mum is a huge fan and has been collecting it since the 50s when her dad brought her some from when he was working in Denmark. She wears the mother-and-child necklace a lot, and it's so pretty! I'm not a necklace wearer really (I don't like them dangling and catching on the fine hairs on the back of my neck) which is a shame as one day I'll have about 6 or 7 nice Jensen necklaces.

Is Nina Ditzel the one with the big chunky ring? I have that (my mum bought it years ago and then gave it to me as she never wore it) and I should wear it more often, I do love it.

Jensen makes me smile - I've grown up being very aware of the style, and I can often spot a Jensen piece at 200 paces now.

NeedToKnow101 · 27/11/2021 17:45

I wear this a lot.. www.louisewade.com/collections/necklaces-1/products/colbert-necklace

Love her stuff.

PraxisandHypatia · 27/11/2021 17:48

A tennis necklace, goes with absolutely everything.

inflatableseahorses · 27/11/2021 17:48

Ooohhh... there are some gorgeous suggestions here. I had no idea Georg Jensen did jewellery. I wonder if DH will notice if my Xmas present wish list items have an extra 0 on the end of them compared to normal!!
