To never buy a bloody dyson again

Laughingstock91 · 21/11/2021 18:24

Bought one of those hand held cordless dysons last year- can’t remember which one but OMG it’s a bag of shit. Charge is about 10 mins- gets clogged up with hair and is utterly shit. Massive regret.

Aibu to never buy one again? So overrated and so shit!

As a slight aside I really dislike the misuse of AIBU. OBVIOUSLY no one is going to tell you that you are being unreasonable in not buying a dyson.

Anyway, get a shark. Vastly superior and much cheaper

PragmaticWench · 21/11/2021 18:26

Mine is the same age and lasts 45 minutes. Doesn't get clogged with long hair and dog hair BUT the chamber needs to be emptied after each room. Hmm

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/11/2021 18:27

God yabu I love my dyson, get enough charge to clean the house. I’ve tried other brands and always come back to dyson

girlmom21 · 21/11/2021 18:27

I've had a dyson upright cylinder thing for 6 years and never had a problem

EmmaGrundyForPM · 21/11/2021 18:28

YABVU to buy a Dyson not a Shark.

Ilikewinter · 21/11/2021 18:29

Ive had it with cordless and have just got a corded anti hair wrap, animal attachment thingy Shark....absolutely bloody love it!

Pinkspecs · 21/11/2021 18:30

YANBU totally overrated.

FawnFrenchieMum · 21/11/2021 18:30

Definitely unreasonable to own a Dyson and not a Shark.

tulippa · 21/11/2021 18:30

Really hated my cordless Dyson. Sucked up things it couldn't cope with and had to continually take it apart to fish out things that had got stuck. Don't get me started on having to cut out endless amounts of hair that kept getting entwined around the roller.
When I called to complain they said it was designed to be a secondary vacuum as a back up for people who lived in big houses and not intended for everyday use in a normal home. Confused
I now have a Miele and it's amazing.

ninjashark · 21/11/2021 18:31

Yanbu we've just replaced ours with a shark for exactly this reason!

I had a Dyson cordless and it was absolute rubbish. Very flimsy, always clogged with hair , just terrible. I swear it spat more out than it sucked up! Now I have a shark. It's brilliant. I got one that has a special roller that stops long hair getting tangled in it. Never going back to dyson.

Marmite27 · 21/11/2021 18:32

I had a hissy fit at mine a few years ago as it was utter shit.

I stormed out of the house to Costco and came home with a chocolate fudge cake and a Henry hoover.

Laughingstock91 · 21/11/2021 18:32

I don’t really want to get another one but it will be a shark if I do

After 2 Dysons and a Shark (the Shark being by far the worst) I've gone back to a Henry. Pain in the arse to lug around the house but less maintenance and actually works without needing to be replaced every 12 months.

TheCreamCaker · 21/11/2021 18:35

I bought one, a few years ago, to use upstairs instead of lugging the ordinary vacuum up there.

It IS crap. We've got laminate flooring everywhere apart from my bedroom and the stairs/landing. This cordless Dyson doesn't seem to pick up crumbs, cat biscuits, bits of fluff, etc., just pushed the stuff around. The bloody thing needs charging again after about 10 sodding minutes. It's been the most useless electrical item I've ever had. The pile of shit.

toastofthetown · 21/11/2021 18:35

Why do you think you are being unreasonable to not repurchase a product you didn't like?

CovidCorvid · 21/11/2021 18:41

Do you know which model it is please? I want to replace my v6 which does clog……not sure if a v8 would be ok or I need a v10.
Shmithecat2 · 21/11/2021 18:43

Yabu. I love my V11 Absolute!

Calee03 · 21/11/2021 18:45

I have a cordless dyson, have had it for 3 years and still love mine. It does get blocked easily and need emptying constantly but I use it every day and I can do my whole house on one charge about 20 minutes ish. Is yours faulty?

BackBackBack · 21/11/2021 18:45

YANBU. I had a Dyson Animal V6 cordless. Never again. Battery life was pants. Constantly cutting in and out due to crappy connections - DH sorted it but for the money I was Hmm

The worst bit was the dust bin. The advert shows you pressing the button and the bottom swinging open whilst the dust falls straight out into your main bin. Except animal hair - which it was supposedly designed for - clogged up the sides and could only be removed with something proddly. I ended up with a designated chopstick specifically for unblocking it. Utterly infuriating.

Same. You can throw a Henry down the stairs and it will work perfectly and not have a scratch on it!
WalkingOnTheCracks · 21/11/2021 18:50

Our upright Dyson is so utterly fucking useless - gets clogged if you so much as glance at it - that we find ourselves in the unusual position of nagging teenagers not to hoover their rooms.

TurnUpTurnip · 21/11/2021 18:57

I bought a dyson and the handle snapped off after 6 months or less can’t remember the exact time, it was during lock down so could return it when I tried I was refused a refund, I would never buy one again,

ApocalypseNowt · 21/11/2021 18:57

We went back to Henry.

Think about every workman you've had in your house...what vacuum do they have? Henry.

Same goes for chambermaids.

They're the ones that'd know...
