To never buy a bloody dyson again

Laughingstock91 · 21/11/2021 18:24

Bought one of those hand held cordless dysons last year- can’t remember which one but OMG it’s a bag of shit. Charge is about 10 mins- gets clogged up with hair and is utterly shit. Massive regret.

Aibu to never buy one again? So overrated and so shit!

If you want something with a decent bit of suck you need a mains dyson or henry.

Cordless ones are always going to disappoint someone. It’s a tradeoff between their respective strengths and weaknesses.

I’ve found that, with ebay, you can keep a dyson or henry going for years.

mineofuselessinformation · 21/11/2021 19:07

Often if they seem to be running out of charge quickly, it's because the middle filter (the one that's like a thin tapered cylinder) is blocked.
I had a thread on here a while back about it. (Can't find it easily as I'm on the app - sorry!)

wanttomarryamillionaire · 21/11/2021 19:08

Dyson and shark are both shit! We went back to Henry!

Luzina · 21/11/2021 19:11

I bought a shark (a wired one, not cordless) to replace a dyson. The shark is really heavy and IMO no better than the dyson was. Both really good hoovers but shark not the miracle I was expecting (based on people’s rave reviews)

80Dodgeballs · 21/11/2021 19:11

I've had a Dyson (it broke and they were shite at sorting the issue) and a Shark. The Shark is bloody heavy. Switched to a robot hoover 2 years ago with a small handheld Dyson for a quick clear up and have never looked back!

Will never, ever go back to one that I have to hoover with myself.

Duchess379 · 21/11/2021 19:12

I've got the Dyson cordless for downstairs & their corded upright that I use upstairs. Corded one wins hands down. Had it about 10yrs & is vastly superior to the shite cordless version. I only have 4 rugs to hoover downstairs & cordless can't manage. It has a sensor in the glass bin so if it detects fluff, it thinks its full & stops working. I won't be replacing it when it eventually dies. Overrated rubbish.😠

LolaButt · 21/11/2021 19:16

My cordless shark is a rattley heap of shit that wrecked my flooring.

Tulips21 · 21/11/2021 19:17

I have the corded shark- Its crap and has remained broken under stairs for A year- it was 6 months old when broke- constantly needs emptying as something small has clogged it and the anti hair wrap is shit.
Ive gone back to my 8 yr old Henry- no issues in that 8 yrs with it at all

Iggyplop · 21/11/2021 19:29

Totally agree with you, shower of shite.

Popstarrrrr · 21/11/2021 19:38

I fucking hate the Dyson. The sensors or whatever the bastard things are don't connect properly so the revolving brush doesn't work. I have to take apart and reassemble the wanker at least three times before I use it. The only saving grace is that I didn't buy the piece of shit with my own money.

I hate it.

WeAllHaveWings · 21/11/2021 19:38

Shark is the worst vacuum I have ever owned. Wish I could get an old style dyson, they were great and mine lasted 15 years.

PollyGray · 21/11/2021 19:39

My Shark is by far the worst vaccum I've ever bought and it's stuck in the garage gathering dust. I hate it so much I only use it to hoover up things that by rights ought to break it but it they don't Confused.
I kept my old Miele and still swear by it but it's not cordless.

Doubledoorsontogarden · 21/11/2021 19:39

I just purchased a Shark, thanks to this thread. Fingers crossed that it’s decent!

DeepaBeesKit · 21/11/2021 19:41

When I called to complain they said it was designed to be a secondary vacuum as a back up for people who lived in big houses and not intended for everyday use in a normal home.

Well duh?! Can't believe there were people using these as a sole/main vacuum, they are tiny!

We just use it to spot clean things like the sofa or part of a room if the cat has dropped a lot if fluff, or to hoover out the car. Never had any problems with it.

user0176 · 21/11/2021 19:43

@Doubledoorsontogarden despite all the people on here also saying how awful they are?! I fell for the reverse snobbery of Shark, worst money I've ever spent. Dysons (cordless) don't last long, but at least they worked before that point.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 21/11/2021 19:43

@user0176

After 2 Dysons and a Shark (the Shark being by far the worst) I've gone back to a Henry. Pain in the arse to lug around the house but less maintenance and actually works without needing to be replaced every 12 months.
Me too (except mine is a Charles) hated my shark and dysons are rubbish now
FawnFrenchieMum · 21/11/2021 19:46

Shark have a 5 year warranty, so your stupid for leaving it under the stairs broken Hmm
LynetteScavo · 21/11/2021 19:47

I have a George and a Henry. I've also bought a Shark. Way better than George or Henry.

I go somewhere once a week where they're closing up while I'm their. They use a cordless Dyson and the noise makes me want to cry. I sit with my fingers in my ears.

Kuachui · 21/11/2021 19:47

dysons and vax are crap. shark all the way

TurnUpTurnip · 21/11/2021 19:47

I hated my Henry till I got a dyson then realised how good Henry actually was 😐

Mischance · 21/11/2021 19:48

Yup - they are hopeless. Mine had to go back twice. The plastic elements are so brittle and poor quality.

Claptone · 21/11/2021 19:51

@tulippa

Really hated my cordless Dyson. Sucked up things it couldn't cope with and had to continually take it apart to fish out things that had got stuck. Don't get me started on having to cut out endless amounts of hair that kept getting entwined around the roller. When I called to complain they said it was designed to be a secondary vacuum as a back up for people who lived in big houses and not intended for everyday use in a normal home. Confused I now have a Miele and it's amazing.
This is not what they tell you in Currys when you decide to 'treat' yourself....

I'd have more chance trying to get on my broom and fly over the carpet than cleaning it with a cordless stain.

ToykotoLosAngeles · 21/11/2021 19:52

I love my Shark! We had 2 Dysons and both broke after 5 years 1 month. Coincidence?!

freeandfierce · 21/11/2021 19:52

Another vote for corded Shark after numerous Dyson and Vax have given up. Sharks amazing!

JassyRadlett · 21/11/2021 19:53

Broke up with Dyson and never looked back; my Miele was a total revelation.
