Most bizarre seller ever

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 18:26

Totally prepared to be told I’m at fault but I’ve reached the end of my tether. I purchased a lovely pair of heels from a seller and used PayPal to purchase them. In purchased them on 25th October - wore them out on 31 October and the sole fell off. I contacted the seller who apologised but then suggested I have them mended and they would transfer me the money.

I declined and asked for a new pair - I asked for a return postage label and means to return - they arrived in large plastic parcel envelope I don’t have anymore. I got an emailed label with no accompanying confirmation that I would receive new shoes.

I queried this and said I found the interaction with them poor.

The seller has become very nasty - hurling accusations of me acting superior etc. I stated not to worry about replacement but could I have a refund. The response - “take it up with PayPal”.

Has anyone had any experience with this?- are PayPal helpful in these situations?. I’m honestly baffled as to how the conversation deteriorated like it has with the seller. I have evidence of all interactions between us and I showed a friend who though the seller sounded unhinged.

I just want my money back - the shoes were a gift from my husband so I want to purchase another pair elsewhere ASAP for our upcoming wedding anniversary. Should I kiss goodbye to my refund?

OP posts:

Can some of you please rtft- she says she got the point about the return envelope. 🤦‍♀️

category12 · 12/11/2021 20:56

The seller wasn’t angry re the packaging - the anger was apparently because the op wouldn’t repair brand new shoes that had the sole fall off!!

No, I think the anger stemmed from OP querying lack of return packaging and along with a criticism of their poor interaction.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:04

No - if you read below the anger came when OP asked the seller to confirm she would get a new pair - fairly generous if the OP in my opinion as I wouldn’t accept further products from them as firstly the first pair of shoes were shit quality - And and secondly the seller sounds batshit- who disagrees with a customer and thinks that being horrible and aggressive helps the situation. Referring to any customer as superior is fairly out there from a customer service point of view. Gross misconduct in my business.

Opening line of the OP; “Totally prepared to be told I’m at fault”
🤣🤣🤣 sure Jan!

Send the shoes back. Await refund. If no refund materialises, contact PayPal and get your money back. Bravo for turning a very mundane issue into such a drama though!

Noodella18 · 12/11/2021 21:11

@Usedandhurt you're OP's sister right 😂 Literally every other poster on this thread can fully see why the seller got frustrated with her!

rwalker · 12/11/2021 21:13

Every time I've sent stuff back it's been on me to supply the packaging .

How difficult would it be to track down a shoe box place it in a bin bag fold it over and tape it . Put address on piece of paper and tape the to parcel.
If there faulty the seller normally refunds postage unless it's in there And C's that they don't

Sorry but massive drama for nothing .

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:16

I think the response the OP got is what’s causing the drama - some of you need to grow up! Grown women in an internet site being nasty to a stranger.

Feel sorry for the seller!- ? The seller is sitting pretty - got rid of shoddy goods and £50 better off into the bargain. The OP may be guilty of being naive but she doesn’t come across as trying to be a bad customer.

Obviously she doesn’t have need to return things often or she would know about packaging.

Hardly a serial scammer.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:18

Nope. - not OPs sister - I’d be getting pissed now if I was!😂. I just think some are being unfair to Op. it’s sad - Mnet didn’t used to be this ‘mean girls’

Rovicha88 · 12/11/2021 21:19

@Noodella18 I thought the same Grin

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:22

I don’t have any sisters - 😂😂😂

Yet you said The seller wasn’t angry re the packaging - the anger was apparently because the op wouldn’t repair brand new shoes that had the sole fall off!! Hmm

The interaction didn't turn nasty until OP went back about lack of packaging for the return plus whatever she said about "poor interaction". Up until then, the seller had perhaps made a silly suggestion of getting the shoes fixed and them transferring money for it, and then sending a returns label for the shoes when that was declined.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:36

Again - the OP is a customer - why is it ok for the seller to make a silly suggestion re mending but not the purchaser re packaging.

Perhaps I have misread but I don’t think OP did decline ?- she asked for seller to confirm new shoes would be sent.

I’ve had customers screaming down the phone - one told me I had caused her emotional distress because an item she liked had sold out - another put her husband on the phone to explain why I should sell her a product at half the advertised price - he called me a stupid bitch when I refused.

Part of being in business is not to react. I can only imagine what the seller OP dealt with would do if she dealt with some of the customers I do!

It’s business - suck it up

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:38

As in I think she declined to get the shoes mended not declined the return label

category12 · 12/11/2021 21:45

then sending a returns label for the shoes when that [suggestion] was declined.

I don't really understand why you're having trouble with that sentence, but I hope my addition helps. ^

I'd be curious to know what exactly OP said in her criticism of the seller's interaction.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 21:50

Sorry I may have misread - I though the seller requested op mend the shoes - op declined - said she would return shoes but wanted confirmation she was getting a new pair?-

I’d love to know what she said also but I bet she won’t come back to the thread - she got piled on - maybe send her a PM you never know - she might tell you

category12 · 12/11/2021 21:55

Yes = I queried this and said I found the interaction with them poor.

But you initially said that the seller got angry because OP refused to get the shoes mended.

Which wasn't the case, they got angry after OP went back to them over the returns label.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 22:02

Yes - from what I’m getting from her posts the seller wanted OP to mend the shoes - she says no- asked for packing and postage - obviously the seller didn’t want to send packaging - whatever way it was communicated the OP said she was unhappy with interaction - seller says take it to PayPal.

Either way I can’t imagine any customer raising an issue with me for me or a member Of my staff to tell the customer to basically shove it and take it to PayPal.

Some people shouldn’t be in business. Truly.

Pigeoninthehouse · 12/11/2021 22:04

Again - the OP is a customer - why is it ok for the seller to make a silly suggestion re mending but not the purchaser re packaging.
Its pretty standard to offer a repair or replace on faulty goods. Whereas demanding packaging and refusing to return until the seller sends her an appropriate box, is just strange.
The op sounds like a pain in the arse and I'm on the sellers side.
This thread sounds like the MLM Lipstick one from a week or so ago.,
Did you return you lipstick and get your refund op ?

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 22:04

I REALLY want the op to come back with an update once PayPal got involved.

I also would love to see the online review - cringing for the company already

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 22:05

pigeon did the op have a previous thread like this?- can you link it?

Pigeoninthehouse · 12/11/2021 22:08

Different user name just a very similar thread.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 22:15

Thanks pigeon

category12 · 12/11/2021 22:16

Depends what OP said in her message, doesn't it? OP refers to criticising their poor interaction, to which the seller responded that she was acting superior.

Naturally OP thinks whatever she said was reasonable and depicts the seller as "hurling accusations", but it's quite possible her criticism of them was harsh/patronising.

Keeping2ChevronsApart · 12/11/2021 22:20

I have a shop on eBay just do the following:

Open up a case as item not as described
Take plenty of pictures as PayPal will want to see

PayPal will pull a hold on the funds / put her account in negative balance and tell you to return using a tracked method - second class recorded is about £4

You can upload the tracking details and once delivered PayPal will refund you the the original price you paid plus the return postage

I have drummed it into DP always use PayPal if possible !
