Most bizarre seller ever

Totally prepared to be told I’m at fault but I’ve reached the end of my tether. I purchased a lovely pair of heels from a seller and used PayPal to purchase them. In purchased them on 25th October - wore them out on 31 October and the sole fell off. I contacted the seller who apologised but then suggested I have them mended and they would transfer me the money.

I declined and asked for a new pair - I asked for a return postage label and means to return - they arrived in large plastic parcel envelope I don’t have anymore. I got an emailed label with no accompanying confirmation that I would receive new shoes.

I queried this and said I found the interaction with them poor.

The seller has become very nasty - hurling accusations of me acting superior etc. I stated not to worry about replacement but could I have a refund. The response - “take it up with PayPal”.

Has anyone had any experience with this?- are PayPal helpful in these situations?. I’m honestly baffled as to how the conversation deteriorated like it has with the seller. I have evidence of all interactions between us and I showed a friend who though the seller sounded unhinged.

I just want my money back - the shoes were a gift from my husband so I want to purchase another pair elsewhere ASAP for our upcoming wedding anniversary. Should I kiss goodbye to my refund?

I’m a scammer?Grin . The seller is more than welcome to broken shoes - who is going to refund me my money though! - is there a guarantee there?

I’d open a case with PayPal and return the shoes when they instruct you to. Take a photo of the shoes before you do and send them in whatever you have.

Theunamedcat · 12/11/2021 19:09

Good grief just send the dam things back 🙄

Noodella18 · 12/11/2021 19:10

"I’d have had no issue sending them back if I knew I’d get a refund."

Good grief - do you not understand the concept of PayPal's buyer protection? Just send the bloody things back in the manner they were sent, make sure you have screenshots of convo and pics of the broken shoes, and keep your postage receipts. If seller doesn't auto refund you, PayPal will side with you anyway.

What's the point of hanging onto broken shoes because you're scared you won't get a refund. Either way the shoes are broken so you can't use them?!

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:11

Thanks zombeo that’s what I was thinking. I’ve never had to raise anything before with them. Honestly if it were a small thing like a buckle was loose I wouldn’t mind and would mend them but they are so clearly faulty!

Of course you'll get a refund if you have proof of delivery, which you will have when they get delivered to the seller.

The seller shouldn't have been rude but there's nothing they can do until they get the shoes back.
I've never expected packaging to send something back in, you use whatever you have and wrap sufficiently.

Noodella18 · 12/11/2021 19:11

I'm really starting to feel sympathy for the seller!

LubaLuca · 12/11/2021 19:11

You need to be creative with packaging in situations like this. I keep large plastic parcel bags and turn them inside out to use again, or as others have said a sturdy carrier bag will do. You're being awkward expecting to be sent everything you need, it doesn't work like that.

Anyway, you've rubbed them up the wrong way, so don't bank on getting that refund at their earliest convenience.

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:13

Noodella im beginning to think you are the seller! 😂. Perhaps I’m not as aware of PayPal buyer protection as I should be but again it’s the first time I’ve had to raise an issue!

OP posts:
Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:15

Why am I unreasonable to ask for returning packing,- I paid for postage and packaging when I purchased the shoes? At least if they send me what they want then retuned in I can’t be further blamed for damaging them?

OP posts:
IslaInthesun · 12/11/2021 19:15

Just send them back. It's easy

godmum56 · 12/11/2021 19:17

raise it with paypal, do what paypal tell you to do.

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:17

Thanks for advice all. I’ll keep you posted on the outcome if anyone’s interested!

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 12/11/2021 19:18

Send them back, take pictures of the shoes, delivery receipt etc and open a case with paypal.

TurnUpTurnip · 12/11/2021 19:18

This is definitely not the most bizarre seller ever, was expecting something much more interesting! 😂

LubaLuca · 12/11/2021 19:20

You either reuse what they were sent in, or use something that's knocking about at home if you threw their stuff away. Surely everybody who has ever ordered something knows this. It has never been the case that companies will post out additional stationery items if you didn't think to keep what your item was sent in.

The seller must be banging their head on their desk.

unfortunateevents · 12/11/2021 19:22

I can kind of see why the seller is corresponding in capitals! Tempted to use them myself here.

sansucre · 12/11/2021 19:22

You're being ridiculous to expect the seller to supply/send you a box to return the shoes in.

Just contact Paypal directly with screen grabs and explain the shoes weren't fit for purpose. They will refund, I think the process takes up to 21 days.

StormyTeacups · 12/11/2021 19:23

No seller, even a huge company, refunds without the item being returned. You're being a bit contrary here, requesting they send out boxes etc when the main problem is that you binned the paperwork. Who does that before you know if they're fit for purpose?

Noodella18 · 12/11/2021 19:24

Haha, not the seller! Just feels like a mountain out of a molehill!

Thatsplentyjack · 12/11/2021 19:26

Take pictures before you sent them. Send the pictures to the seller. Put them in packaging (no company provides extra return packaging, only the original that you can use, or you need to buy your own. Send them back and see what happens. No point having broken shoes. You've lost 5p quid either way. Once you send them back, wait around 3 weeks for a refund. If there's no refund take it up with pay pal.

justswaying · 12/11/2021 19:30

You paid for packing and postage. They PACKED and POSTED them to you, if the packaging wasn't up to your standard that's your issue because they got there in one piece. You want them to send you more packaging? Of the same poor quality?

Just send the blasted things back!

Purpleheadgirl · 12/11/2021 19:32

If you raise the case with PayPal they also have a scheme where you can claim back postage through them when returning things in this situation....up x 5 times I think. PayPal will pretty much always side with you.....but there is no way you will be sent packaging to use!

readwhatiactuallysay · 12/11/2021 19:34

Send the broken shoes back, they dont need to send you a bloomin box to return them

Once you have returned them, show paypal their acknowledgment of the broken shoes and await your refund.

Easy really, as someone else said mountain's and molehills.

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:37

Ok I get it re the packaging!! Let’s not forget I’m the customer who was verbally attacked for wanting a replacement pair of shoes as the ones they sent were faulty!!

On the plus side My sister has arrived over with wine - we are reading the responses - and honestly some of you need to calm down!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
