Most bizarre seller ever

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 18:26

Totally prepared to be told I’m at fault but I’ve reached the end of my tether. I purchased a lovely pair of heels from a seller and used PayPal to purchase them. In purchased them on 25th October - wore them out on 31 October and the sole fell off. I contacted the seller who apologised but then suggested I have them mended and they would transfer me the money.

I declined and asked for a new pair - I asked for a return postage label and means to return - they arrived in large plastic parcel envelope I don’t have anymore. I got an emailed label with no accompanying confirmation that I would receive new shoes.

I queried this and said I found the interaction with them poor.

The seller has become very nasty - hurling accusations of me acting superior etc. I stated not to worry about replacement but could I have a refund. The response - “take it up with PayPal”.

Has anyone had any experience with this?- are PayPal helpful in these situations?. I’m honestly baffled as to how the conversation deteriorated like it has with the seller. I have evidence of all interactions between us and I showed a friend who though the seller sounded unhinged.

I just want my money back - the shoes were a gift from my husband so I want to purchase another pair elsewhere ASAP for our upcoming wedding anniversary. Should I kiss goodbye to my refund?

Think I’m on the sellers side here Grin

Cherrysoup · 12/11/2021 19:41

PayPal are good, just ensure you tell them that the seller has been rude and told you to tait up with PayPal. I had someone sell trainers of the wrong size on eBay in the U.K., having incorrectly used the American sizing. He argued, saying I could get the money back from PayPal. I think he thought it wouldn’t come from his account 🤔 I got a full refund.

SexyNeckbeard · 12/11/2021 19:41

You won't get a refund till you send them back, it's unreasonable to expect that you would. If you binned the packaging it came in its also unreasonable to expect them to send you a box. Buy a jiffy bag and put the receipt in there if you're that worried about it

MintMatchmaker · 12/11/2021 19:42

You threw the packaging away, it’s totally bizarre you ever expected them to send you more!

The seller can’t do anything until they have the goods returned. I suspect if you’d done just that you would have already received your refund.

The seller probably thinks you’re the bizarre one!

TheBullfinch · 12/11/2021 19:42

This has got to be a wind-up surely?

Elieza · 12/11/2021 19:44

Use anything you can to pack the shoes in. Part of a cornflakes box or whatever. Tape it up securely. Then put inside a carrier bag and tape it up. Post recorded delivery and return them soon.

I’ve had disputes before and sometimes the sellers have refunded the cost of the item but not the postage both ways so I had to get back onto them. PayPal have always been good with me.

I too always feared that was I spending more money and I’d never get anything back. But it was not the case.

Briscarta · 12/11/2021 19:45

Nope not a wind up. The packaging arrived practically shredded!- the seller can think what they like - as long as I get my money back - right I’m off out . Thanks for all your responses and the laughs. 😂😂😂

It’s your right as a consumer to get a repair, replacement or refund. You don’t have to have the original packaging with a faulty item. The seller needs to pay for a return. Yes, return the shoes if they pay for postage. And just open a case on PayPal, they’re very good in refunding your money, after you’ve been in contact with the seller, like you have.

londonrach · 12/11/2021 19:48

You need to send them back.. sadly postage can not be worth it ..had this was to the awful glossybox...asked for return postage as mis sold. I have to pay for postage which alot we they wanted it signed.. PayPal found with glossybox...I just want to return the items but not worth it with postage

stingofthebutterfly · 12/11/2021 19:58

I've never known any company to send you packaging to return an item. Find something to return them in and post them back, tracked. Photos, proof of delivery and message screenshots and you'll get your refund. Of course you're not going to be refunded whilst you still have the shoes!

ALittleBitWorrriedNow · 12/11/2021 19:59

Just take it up with PayPal OP, they are really good at sorting these kind of things out swiftly and you can claim back your return postage as well - make sure you send them tracked/signed for and insured for the correct amount.

Waspsarearseholes · 12/11/2021 20:15

Totally prepared to be told I’m at fault

Except you're not, are you? Demanding a box gets sent to you to return broken shoes is bizarre. If they're broken you can just wrap them in a binbag and return them. They are faulty, you have photographic proof of it,.so once you have returned them you will get a refund. Would you go to a shop on the high street and tell demand a refund/replacement without returning the shoes? Or then demand the shop pays for you petrol/parking costs to return the shoes, plus a shopping bag in which to carry them as you binned the one they gave you with the purchase? You are sounding more and more like a giant PITA with every update. Return the shoes and they will refund you. It's literally as simple as that. That is how shopping works, and has worked for many years. Are you brand new?!

elbea · 12/11/2021 20:18

YABU in expecting a company to send you a box so you can post them back, I’ve literally never heard of anyone doing this. It’s bizarre.

They sent you a label like you asked, you wrap it up with whatever you have and then stick on the label they sent.

I’d imagine PayPal are going to award to the seller because despite sending you postage for a return, you are refusing because they aren’t wastefully posting you a box.

Bellie710 · 12/11/2021 20:19

Paypal almost always go in favour of the buyer, so you will definitely get a refund.

LettertoHermoine · 12/11/2021 20:24

YABVU.

Return the shows and be reasonable. Sitting waiting for them to send you a box to return them in is just ridiculous.

You are totally prepared to be told you are at fault? That is so funny!

MrsJackWhicher · 12/11/2021 20:28

PayPal are very good at refunding -I had similar

ArblemarchTFruitbat · 12/11/2021 20:32

I've had shoes sent in just a plastic bag and they've been fine. I'd wrap them in a bag for life, then perhaps put some newspaper around it to make the shape even, and then put it in one of those big plastic envelopes.

category12 · 12/11/2021 20:38

Ugh, no-one sends you a box to post things back in - you use your own packaging.

They'd agreed the goods were faulty, agreed for you to return them, so you should have just done that. Then if you didn't get a refund, you'd raise a case with Paypal/Ebay.

Scirocco · 12/11/2021 20:39

You need to return the item before you can expect a refund.

If they've sent you out a label, package up the shoes and send them back to the seller. Take photos of them before postage, get proof of postage and a receipt for the cost of sending them back.

Once the company receive the returned package, they should contact you about the refund. If there are any issues, you could also ask for them to cover the cost of postage, as some companies are willing to do this as a gesture of goodwill (although it's not required of them).

Any issues from that point on, raise with PayPal. If you've got proof of purchase, proof of return and correspondence from the seller, PayPal will arrange for your money back fairly easily.

It's unrealistic to expect the company to send you out additional packaging, so just use something from home or get packaging from your local post office. Having to pay for sending back items is an occupational hazard of buying online if you don't make sure to keep original packaging from deliveries.

Catra · 12/11/2021 20:40

You clearly don't understand how PayPal buyer's protection works - it doesn't matter whether you send them back in a bin bag, a box, or a jumbo jet, as long as you can prove you returned them, PayPal will refund you if for any reason the seller doesn't.

As others have said completely unreasonable to expect the seller to send you packaging or refund without receiving the item back.

I sell online and you sound like an utter nightmare customer.

Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 20:42

I think the OP said earlier that she was heading out do she won’t be responding I think. Can I ask why dine if you are being so horrible- she says she would send the shoes back once she was guaranteed her money back.

I can see why she’s worried about using her own packaging - the seller seems to be horrible to deal with. No doubt seller would try to wriggle out of refund saying OP causes further damage with her choice if packaging. The op has says the packaging the shoes arrived in was torn so not reusable. I’m sure I’d the seller wasn’t so ignorant and aggressive in their interaction with the OP then this would have been resolved.

Tbh The op was right to have refused to get the shoes fixed - the seller seemed to get angry and be unreasonable. Op I’d wait on PayPal and do exactly as they say.

I also agree that some posters need to relax. OP is not that one who sold substandard goods and then got angry about it. I’ve a business myself and if a member of my team behaved that way to a customer they would be severely disciplined.

Also OP did not name the company- she’s not trying to exploit anything from what I gather.

OP get the refund and write an honest review on the company page.save some other person having the same treatment. Ignore some posters on here who are strangely taking this very personally.

You all honestly seem more concerned about an envelope than the shoddy treatment OP has received. Now that is bizarre!!!

Babyvenusplant · 12/11/2021 20:45

@Briscarta

No I haven’t returned them - I can’t yet -I originally asked the seller to send me a box/packaging and a return label - and confirm I Would receive a replacement pair of shoes.

Now I just want a box to return them a return label and a refund.

I think it was awkward of you to ask for packing to send them back, nobody does that
Cissyandflora · 12/11/2021 20:45

@Noodella18

I'm really starting to feel sympathy for the seller!
Yes me too. Just get the shoes fixed why don’t you?
Mydogmylife · 12/11/2021 20:50

@Noodella18

I'm really starting to feel sympathy for the seller!
Me too! Op , just send the shoes back, get a proof of delivery and ask for your refund . If you don't get the refund from the seller, PayPal will refund you. I don't get your issue I'm afraid
Usedandhurt · 12/11/2021 20:51

Why is the OP asking for packaging concerning you all more than the shit product provided to her and the sellers shoddy treatment?!!!

All the seller had to say was - no - you provide the return packaging - here’s a return label - I’ll give you a refund once received.

The seller wasn’t angry re the packaging - the anger was apparently because the op wouldn’t repair brand new shoes that had the sole fall off!!

On what planet is it unreasonable for the OP not to want to do that!.
