I didn’t like this - would you have felt the same?

I had a cleaner start today - never had one before so was very excited!

I’d planned to be out of her way when she was here, but as it happened I got home about 30 mins early to see she was cleaning barefoot.

I felt really odd about this. Would anyone else have felt the same?

No. Why does it bother you?

Aquamarine1029 · 03/11/2021 22:19

Gross. That wouldn't work for me. I would provide her with slippers to wear.

ABCeasyasdohrayme · 03/11/2021 22:19

Its definitely a bit odd, I'm not really sure how I would feel, maybe slightly amused.

Did you say anything?

SleepingStandingUp · 03/11/2021 22:20

Are you concerned about her sweaty dirty feet treating sweat into your carpets? Leaving damp outlines on the tiles?

TimeForTeaAndG · 03/11/2021 22:20

Makes sense really to be barefoot when you've just vacuumed/mopped the floor. Rather than trailing around in shoes. And it saves carrying slippers or whatever.

KatherineofGaunt · 03/11/2021 22:21

Maybe she didn't want dirty shoes all over the clean carpets and floors?!

CatonMat · 03/11/2021 22:21

I wouldn't care.
Id assume it's so that she isn't walking grot everywhere.

As long as the place was clean I'd be happy.

AnyFucker · 03/11/2021 22:22

What is it about folk slagging off the staff on MN today ?

HollyandIvyandAllThingsYule · 03/11/2021 22:22

Just ask her to wear slippers (which you will need to provide).

VladmirsPoutine · 03/11/2021 22:22

Maybe she likes to feel at one with the surfaces she's cleaning.

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 03/11/2021 22:22

Barefoot or in her socks?

Mangofandangoo · 03/11/2021 22:23

Oh please just shut up and be thankful that you have someone doing your cleaning for you.

I mean really.

SharpeSam · 03/11/2021 22:24

Not slagging her off at all! She did a good job and I’m grateful to have her. But I didn’t like the barefoot bit. I didn’t say anything no, I’ll be sure to stay out of her way next time.

ChuckMater · 03/11/2021 22:24

Are you bothered because she didn't have socks on or because she didn't have shoes on? Seems pointless to clean with shoes on.

The staff?? I thought cleaners were self employed

Where have I said I’m not grateful? I presume I’m allowed an opinion.

But she might steal your jeans too? YANBU

SharpeSam · 03/11/2021 22:25

She didn’t have socks or shoes on.

Shitfuckcommaetc · 03/11/2021 22:26

Got her socks wet?

Lots of cleaner threads on here tonight

Steal my jeans?! Three of her would fit into my jeans!

A lot of people don’t want shoes worn in the house, maybe lots of her other customers have given that feedback.

StrongerOrWeaker · 03/11/2021 22:26

I defo wouldn't like that.

TuftyMarmoset · 03/11/2021 22:27

Seems fine to me. Makes a lot more sense than cleaning the floor then walking over it with dirty shoes.

SweetMaryHell · 03/11/2021 22:27

You can never be too careful, she’d alter them

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 03/11/2021 22:28

I would be more annoyed if a cleaner wore their outdoor-muck-of-the-world-shoes in my house. We all go barefoot at home anyway.
