I didn’t like this - would you have felt the same?

I had a cleaner start today - never had one before so was very excited!

I’d planned to be out of her way when she was here, but as it happened I got home about 30 mins early to see she was cleaning barefoot.

I felt really odd about this. Would anyone else have felt the same?

@ReggaetonLente that is a bit bizarre - to go home after getting wet socks doing the job of cleaning the floor!

@Snoopsnoggysnog I wouldn’t like anyone else to wear my slippers - except my children Grin I had an au pair once who, ignoring the bedding that had been put in her room (and pointed out to her) as her spare set, went down to the airing cupboard and took my set for my bed. Put it on her bed. Really didn’t like that!

@SleepingStandingUp

Are you concerned about her sweaty dirty feet treating sweat into your carpets? Leaving damp outlines on the tiles?
😂

I had an accident when on holiday in Assam a couple of years back. I was taken to a small hospital unit where I discovered that the nurses worked barefoot and was told that was for reasons of hygiene. The ;consultant wore shoes, but I didn't see him move out of his office.
I would have thought that bare feet was actually cleaner than shoes.

I wouldn’t want a cleaner walking around my home in shoes either. With bare feet, I’d be more concerned about athletes foot, verrucas, etc

@SharpeSam

Thanks for further opinions.

I don’t know why people have to be snide. I never said anything at all about the “staff” not being up to it etc, I simply was canvassing opinions. I’m not going to buy/suggest slippers because if she wants to clean barefoot that’s up to her, I just wondered if I was alone in not liking it. All the butter/valet stuff - I really don’t understand where that’s come from.

She’s not a £10/hour cleaner (whatever that means), I don’t know why my frontline comment (true but somehow inappropriate to state?) made someone laugh, and if some people find me ridiculous, well I’m too old to change now!

Off to watch Friends, which I’ve never seen, to learn about bras and tress and jeans and the like!

And I’m grateful for the ones I got

I wasn’t taking the piss out of you OP with the friends references, I was just in a daft mood last night 😂

To answer your post properly, it wouldn’t bother me but then I’m very lax (hence why I don’t have a cleaner lol)

I'd find it a bit odd too but like you, wouldn't say anything. At our baby sensory class it is mandatory to wear socks and if you turn up in sandals you are asked to put socks on. There must be a valid reason for this. I wouldn't want people walking barefoot on my baby's playmat.

Guacamole001 · 04/11/2021 16:33

Not very hygienic. What if she has verrucas?

SharpeSam · 04/11/2021 18:07

@SweetMaryHell I know you weren’t - your posts were funny (and intriguing!). There were some comments about staff and getting over myself etc, and another thread started about butlers and valets.

I used to work as a cleaner and would certainly not clean barefoot.I cleaned with socks on (and the socks were always freshly laundered).I think,it is odd to clean barefoot.I would be genuinly interested why she cleans barefoot.
