The most annoying fucking thing to be told?

At work from (it's always men) male customers When you do something
"Good girl"

I'm mid thirties!!!

Blurgh. YANBU.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 25/10/2021 14:33

It's not just you. That's fucking patronising.

Noorandapples · 25/10/2021 14:35

I hate that from anyone under the age of 70, find it so patronising. Old blokes just remind me of my Grandad and get a smile though!

sofato5miles · 25/10/2021 14:35

I loathe it in RL. It is annoying

NotMyCat · 25/10/2021 14:36

I get "well done" a lot too
I mean it's not like it's my job or anything...

Yes and if you turn it round and call them a good boy, it becomes embarrassing and suggestive. Confused You can't win.

Skeumorph · 25/10/2021 14:37

I reply 'Thanks little lad'

NotMyCat · 25/10/2021 14:37

@Skeumorph

I reply 'Thanks little lad'
I wish I could!

Lavender24 · 25/10/2021 14:37

YES it's annoying as fuck. So condescending.

PurpleDaisies · 25/10/2021 14:38

I don’t think anyone’s called me that since I was eight.

iklboo · 25/10/2021 14:38

I reply 'Pat, pat, patronising' while patting myself on the head, direct eye contact.

Justmuddlingalong · 25/10/2021 14:40

"Awww, thanks toots" is my go to reply to that sort of patronising shite.

NotMyCat · 25/10/2021 14:40

Unfortunately I can't really reply with anything so I'm just venting! I would if I could but our calls are recorded so.. yeah GrinBlush

girlmom21 · 25/10/2021 14:41

I don't think it's even just patronising, I find it quite creepy.

DramaAlpaca · 25/10/2021 14:41

I'm in my late 50's and thought I was too old for this patronising nonsense Angry

Then I got called 'good girl' by someone at work, who incidentally is a lot younger than me.

I asked him if he was going to pat me on the head as well. He got the message.

IAAP · 25/10/2021 14:42

Are you confusing me with your dog?

picklemewalnuts · 25/10/2021 14:48

I use 'well done' a lot! It's just a sign of appreciation- I've asked you to do something that may have caused you problems but you've resolved whatever it was and I'm really pleased- ah, well done. Thank you!

MatildaJayne · 25/10/2021 14:48

‘Oh, do you have your pet with you? No? Sorry, I misunderstood.’

Tiramiwho · 25/10/2021 15:04

You really can't say anything to blokes like this without them making it all about you.
"Oh, sorry I didn't mean to offend you Luv, I was just being friendly!" 😠

Taoneusa · 25/10/2021 15:08

@Skeumorph

I reply 'Thanks little lad'
Mega lolz! Grin
RobinRedbreasts · 25/10/2021 15:09

I don't mind it, it's when they ask me to sit on their knee that I get annoyed.

BoxOfDreams · 25/10/2021 15:10

If we go out with my inlaws and I drive, my FIL always says "well done duck" when we arrive at our destination. It really ticks me off. So patronising.

HeyFloof · 25/10/2021 15:10

Dh occasionally says "good girl" to me, he gets "Don't you good girl me you fat bastard" as a response. But then it just turns into twin town quotes at each other.

"thanks little lad" has really tickled me Grin

emmetgirl · 25/10/2021 15:11

I get that at work too from customers. I'm 55 and I own the bloody business.

Whatup · 25/10/2021 15:14

hate it with a passion.
