I hate that from anyone under the age of 70, find it so patronising. Old blokes just remind me of my Grandad and get a smile though!

Yes and if you turn it round and call them a good boy, it becomes embarrassing and suggestive. You can't win.

"Awww, thanks toots" is my go to reply to that sort of patronising shite.

Unfortunately I can't really reply with anything so I'm just venting! I would if I could but our calls are recorded so.. yeah

I don't think it's even just patronising, I find it quite creepy.

Then I got called 'good girl' by someone at work, who incidentally is a lot younger than me.

I asked him if he was going to pat me on the head as well. He got the message.

I use 'well done' a lot! It's just a sign of appreciation- I've asked you to do something that may have caused you problems but you've resolved whatever it was and I'm really pleased- ah, well done. Thank you!

I don't mind it, it's when they ask me to sit on their knee that I get annoyed.

If we go out with my inlaws and I drive, my FIL always says "well done duck" when we arrive at our destination. It really ticks me off. So patronising.

Dh occasionally says "good girl" to me, he gets "Don't you good girl me you fat bastard" as a response. But then it just turns into twin town quotes at each other.

"thanks little lad" has really tickled me

I get that at work too from customers. I'm 55 and I own the bloody business.
