How much house work do you do in a day?

Just that really! I feel like if I don't scrub whole house in one day that I'm a lazy bastard!

I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so need to vac and mop quite often

I certainly don't scrub the whole house everyday, who has time for that? I probably sirens about 1 hour a day on cleaning.

PileOfBooks · 07/10/2021 04:13

Er we are supposed to do housework everyday?

I'd say as little as possible.

Daily - sides clean/stuff in dishwasher...

HungryHippo11 · 07/10/2021 04:13

*spend
Thats including washing up, hoovering, laundry etc

DifficultDifficultLemonDifficu · 07/10/2021 04:19

@HungryHippo11 oh I certainly don't scrub the house everyday either haha, still feel slightly guilty if something hasn't been done though

None. We work long hours, so the most we do during the week is put a wash on and full the dishwasher. We have a cleaner once a fortnight and do very, very little between her visits.

Theartexhouse · 07/10/2021 04:45

I do little and often. I have a baby and a 3 year old so what ever I can squeeze in around caring for them/nap time.

frenchiemummy92 · 07/10/2021 04:49

Laundry daily but don't put it away till the basket is full. Hoover & mop downstairs & clean kitchen daily. Everything else is done every 2-3 days

Wallywobbles · 07/10/2021 04:57

Try and keep on top of the daily tidying and washing by making sure everyone does their bit

Pikamoo · 07/10/2021 05:09

Nothing.

Happyhappyday · 07/10/2021 05:14

30 mins max. Two cats and two toddlers. Hoover and a bit of a tidy while DH is doing bath time. DH makes our bed/tidies our room & probably spends 30 mins doing washing up/wiping surfaces in the kitchen. Our nanny tidies the kids’ toys but she also keeps the number of toys down so it’s not too messy. Cleaner once every other week does a deep clean and we don’t do much else.

GTAlogic · 07/10/2021 05:36

Between me and dh we do as much as needed but don't create work for ourselves. We do a load of laundry, wash the pots after meals and then wipe the surfaces down and then we'll run around with the Hoover. We try to stay on top of the kids' clutter but it doesn't stay tidy for long and it kind of feels like holding back the tide so we only do that towards the end of the day. That's about it.

VashtaNerada · 07/10/2021 05:40

We both work FT so clean once a week. Daily chores are dishwasher, clothes washing, cat litter tray. That’s about it! And we wipe down surfaces before we cook.

marykitty · 07/10/2021 05:43

I work 3 days per week and try to concentrate chores on my 2 free days, I clean together with my toddler (and as much as I can during his nap) Grin
During working days I normally do the basics like sweeping floors, cleaning kitchen and dishes after use, laundry as needed, and tidying up.
Weekends are for catching up with stuff I could not do on my free days (priority is to offer a good day to my toddler, therefore stuff get shifted a lot)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/10/2021 05:47

I do one thing a day. So on Mondays I clean the kitchen, Tuesdays I dust, sweep and hoover, Wednesday change the beds and tidy the bedrooms, nothing on Thursdays as I take DS to a hobby in the evening. Fridays clean the bathroom. Weekends are washing and ironing.

I don't have pets and we are out all day at work and school so I don't need to hoover every day.

Ellabella222 · 07/10/2021 05:55

We’ll all he’d made every day. All washing up done and put away. A clothes wash done. Surfaces wiped and hard floors swept. General tidy up.

Hoover every other day. Bathroom every 3 days probably. I kind of do things as I go. My house looks ok but it’s pretty dusty as I cba dusting!
Mused to have a cleaner but work at home now so can’t fit her in.

Ellabella222 · 07/10/2021 05:56

Make the bed.

Malin52 · 07/10/2021 06:01

Put dishes in dishwasher. Sometimes even that doesn't happen! Pull duvet over bed.

I clean when things look dirty. Every fortnight? I have no bloody time for top to toe house cleaning everyday FFS. Who the hell does? I'm out of the house for 13 hours a day at work!

Sandyseagul · 07/10/2021 06:23

Make bed, Hoover downstairs, do laundry most days, try to clean the bathroom sink and bleach down toilets everyday, wipe kitchen work tops, wipe down oven when still warm if used, wipe cooker top when used, empty dishwasher.

I try to keep on top of the things that get dirty quickly to save myself from more work in the long run. No kids or pets though so probably have less mess and more time.

MiddleParking · 07/10/2021 06:36

Dishwasher and laundry on a rolling basis although I don’t think of that as housework. To be fair though I usually let clean laundry pile up in the utility room for aaaages, take what I need from it each day, and then just do a big fold and put away every week or two in front of the telly on a Sunday. Other than that just the weekly big tidy for the cleaner the night before she comes after DD goes to bed. With a rampaging toddler I don’t bother tidying more often, so there are usually toys everywhere, but it’s clean and 5-10 minutes from being tidy. Before we had a cleaner I definitely needed at least a full day to get it guest ready!

denshort · 07/10/2021 06:38

Very little, my cleaner comes once a week. I'll wipe down the kitchen after cooking, sweep the kitchen a couple of times, might hoover if something needs it

HelloDulling · 07/10/2021 06:40

Monday to Friday I do almost nothing. Laundry and dishwasher, but that’s about it. Tend to have a stab at it on a Saturday morning, but then get fed up. Never quite gets done.

leavesthataregreen · 07/10/2021 06:43

Daily - not a lot. I wipe and spray all kitchen surfaces clean, unload and reload dishwasher and washing machine, sweep or mop the kitchen floor and de-cat-fur the sofas. I clean the loo every day and wipe down taps etc but proper full clean of bathroom, hoovering, mopping, bed change etc only once a week, and deep clean only about 2-3 times a year.

Billandben444 · 07/10/2021 06:50

No children at home and no pets.
As little cleaning as possible - wash up once a day and wipe surfaces, hoover and mop once a week (if it looks grubby), wood silk surfaces once a week (if dusty), clean shower/bath after each use and bleach toilet every day. Once in a blue moon I'll go mad and pull all the furniture out and clean places I didn't know existed but can't really get excited about it. We've never been ill with stomach bugs so can't be that bad. Some days I don't do anything.

WorriedMillie · 07/10/2021 06:53

Each morning, I run around downstairs with the cordless hoover, wipe kitchen surfaces (if not done the night before) and maybe wipe around the downstairs bathroom
I empty the dishwasher if it’s been on
Then just the usual making of beds, load of washing on, folding washing, etc
I wipe around bathrooms (2 min job) as and when. Ditto spray mop the kitchen floor
To be honest, I seem to spend more time tidying than cleaning
Weekly, I clean and hoover through, clean bathrooms and change beds
I’m fundamentally lazy when it comes to housework, but I like a cleanish house, so I’m always looking for shortcuts Grin

icedcoffees · 07/10/2021 06:54

Daily:

Make bed.
Vacuum once or twice (we have a dog and three cats who shed a lot).
Wash dishes and put away - that includes kitchen sides being wiped.
Sweep the hard floors downstairs.
Tidy round the living room before bed.

Takes maybe 30/45 minutes over the course of the day between two of us.
