How much house work do you do in a day?

Just that really! I feel like if I don't scrub whole house in one day that I'm a lazy bastard!

I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, so need to vac and mop quite often

Can’t do housework every day I work 12.5 hour days 3/4 days a week. Not coming home doing that after running around all day.

We wash pots and wipe the kitchen down after every meal.
Hoover twice a week maybe, whole house once. Only two of us and no pets. Mop laminate maybe once a week. ( wipe up spills on kitchen floor regularly)
Bathroom and toilets once a week, dusting/wiping once a week.
Windows when we remember!
Washing maybe 4 days a week

We don’t tend to need to tidy much as we do it as we go along. Tend to do small jobs at least one or two on my days off and my partner pulls his weight as he should.

Ellarain · 07/10/2021 06:57

Every room gets cleaned everyday. Dishwasher at least three times a day and two loads of washing. I like a clean home. Cleaner comes once a week for deep clean, fridge, oven, windows, skirting boards etc.

Dojacatpaws · 07/10/2021 07:06

Dishwasher 3 times a day?

MindyStClaire · 07/10/2021 07:09

Day to day we just tidy up from our meals and tidy the toys away after bedtime. Do a load of laundry most days, although we can be slow to get it away.

On weekends I sweep the downstairs floors and clear out any old fruit and veg while DH does the weekly shop.

Cleaner comes midweek and does floors, bathrooms, dusting and changes our bed.

LadyOfLittleLeisure · 07/10/2021 07:11

Make beds, put away dishes from dishwasher, load dishwasher back up again, clean sides after meals, wash up any pots that can't go in dishwasher, a load of washing (either pegged out or in dryer then most of it put away), sweep and hoover, tidy toys, wipe glass fronted back door, quick wipe and bleach of toilets. These are my every day chores but I am a SAHM. When I worked full time and the kids were both out all day I did a lot less but then it didn't get so messy or dirty either.

Housebears · 07/10/2021 07:11

I have 3 giant dogs so spend more time than normal cleaning.

I Hoover, mop and wipe down any obvious mud on the walls or skirtings daily…sometimes twice if it’s raining Blush
Windows get done every couple of days due to nose marks.
Wash dishes as I go and do a wash load most days.

At the weekend I tend to do a deep clean of kitchen and bathrooms plus the bits I’ve missed.

MeanderingGently · 07/10/2021 07:14

Every day I make the bed, clean out the bathroom, wash up more than once, wipe down the kitchen as necessary, put washing on and hang/tumble dry, generally tidy up if it's needed.

Everything else is done in the weekly clean (Friday/Saturday) including changing the sheets, a total scrub/clean/tidy/vacuum of the whole place, and also wash/vacuum the car.

arethereanyleftatall · 07/10/2021 07:20

About 1 hour per day, 2 hours on a couple of days per week. Make beds, sweep kitchen and bathroom daily, dishwasher, surfaces daily. One 'bigger' job every few days - that might be mopping the floors, cleaning some windows, bathroom, whatever.

Baffled how anyone can be genuinely house proud and have this amount of animals!

I clean kitchen, almost a deep clean, every single night (wash floor, polish surfaces, clean bin, stainless steel clean job and tap etc)

Bathroom deep clean once a week

Vacuum every say without fail

Billandben444 · 07/10/2021 08:26

Wow, some seriously obsessive cleaners around - or are the other normal slobby people still in their pj's having another cuppa?

Ellarain · 07/10/2021 08:32

Yes, dishwasher three times a day. Two adults, three kids, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, lunch boxes. I cook a lot too, so pots, pans, slow cooker lol.

Abouttimemum · 07/10/2021 08:35

Wipe the benches down, wash dishes, might run the hoover round one or two rooms (no pets). Put the washing in if needed. Wipe sinks etc. Nothing onerous and doesn’t take much time, just as we go. I honestly can’t get worked up about housework.

Darceyhemingway · 07/10/2021 08:38

I tidy the kitchen after I cook and that's about it

EileenGC · 07/10/2021 08:39

Little and often here too.

Laundry whenever it needs doing and I’m at home. No regular work schedule so I could be doing a load a day and then none for 2 weeks and then 3 loads in one morning.

Ironing as and when the laundry is done. As soon as it’s dry so it doesn’t pile up on the side.

Hoover weekly. Dust weekly. Mop kitchen and bathroom floors weekly, sometimes fortnightly if I haven’t been in the house much so it’s all still clean.

Kitchen surfaces wiped daily (if I’ve used the kitchen at all, that is).

Bathroom is meant to be cleaned weekly but sometimes it goes longer if I don’t have the time.

Towels and bedding changed fortnightly.

Every week at work is different for me so sometimes the ‘weekly’ means every 5 days, or every 10. I don’t have a set schedule but I prefer doing the big cleaning jobs on a Friday, if I can.

CurryLover55 · 07/10/2021 08:41

Wish I could afford a cleaner! DH & I try to keep ontop of the basics. He works full time & I do part time over 3 days. I do need to do more as sometimes a whole week can go by without any hoovering getting done & the bathroom doesn’t get cleaned even weekly. We do put bleach down the loo though. The kitchen gets cleaned the most. The house is small & very cluttered so once we declutter, we can do a deep clean.

You need help with that if you genuinely feel that way. It's not necessary and not normal or healthy to be constantly cleaning.
RosesAndHellebores · 07/10/2021 08:44

Make bed
Empty and load dishwasher
Fill and empty washing machine
Cook dinner
Wipe over kitchen top and hob if necessary.
Wipe dining table mats as necessary.
Everyone here trained to keep baths and bogs clean as they go.

About one hour a day
Cleaner does 6 hours pw: hoovers and mops, dusts, bogs and bathrooms and irons.
Twice a year cleaner does paintwork and hoovers/dusts lamps, shades, pictures etc. Takes two extra days.
Oven cleaner comes twice per year
Window cleaner every 6 weeks.

BrilliantBulb · 07/10/2021 08:49

Little and often: usually do it room by room a bit like the organised mum method, so I’m not doing the whole house in one day. It helps not to feel as overwhelmed as if a room is in need of a clean you know that you’ll get to it.

Although bathroom and hoovering etc get done more regularly.

silentpool · 07/10/2021 08:50

Make bed
Empty and load dishwasher
Clean kitchen/ tidy living room before bed
Robot Vac does his rounds 2x a day and I bring out the normal vacuum once a week
Steam clean floors 1x a week
Bathroom gets a quick clean a couple of times a week

JaceLancs · 07/10/2021 08:53

Almost none other than making bed keeping place tidy and cooking washing up etc
I may do a load of washing if I need to

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 07/10/2021 09:00

Most days none!
Unless you count things like the washing up, wiping surfaces and putting clothes away.

Bullsh · 07/10/2021 09:03

Kitchen - clean as we go so the sides are always clear and wiped unless we're actually cooking.
Bathrooms daily loo and basin clean, again as we go.
DustBuster under the stairs for quick minor spillages and spiderweb removal, full vac weekly. Kitchen and bathroom floors steam cleaned weekly.
Laundry twice a week.
Garden - working like a dog, 8 days a week Sad

eandz13 · 07/10/2021 09:06

I scrub the whole house every day too.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 07/10/2021 09:09

As little as possible.

Tidy every day.
Vac twice a week
Clean upstairs on Monday.
Downstairs in Friday.

However, l only do these things on a ‘if l feel like it basis’ although l hate clutter.

edenhills · 07/10/2021 09:10

I do about an hour a day. Including dishwasher, laundry etc. Probably should do more as house usually a bit of a tip but noone seems to mind and life's too short!
