Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

On another note I’m leaving Mumsnet soon. Maybe later on today. Or in the early morning hours.

She’s not allowed to!

Unless you’ve met her, your image of her is based entirely on the fawning centre-right media’s portrayal of her.

There are so many stronger female role models out there.

Bit of a weird thing to announce.

My role models have achieved more than being a good wife and mother, but each to their own. There isn’t really anything not to like about her I suppose.

myadhdusername · 03/10/2021 20:26

Is that you Meghan?

EishetChayil · 03/10/2021 20:26

Are you quite well, OP?

Is everything okay??
ChristmasWithDC · 03/10/2021 20:28

I’d much prefer women who actually did things in the worlds rather than just walked about smiling and staring adoringly at their husband and children. There are so many inspirational women it seems odd to choose one who has achieved a nice figure, a wealthy husband and no opinions. Whatever floats your boat though.

Yes, everything’s fine @NoMoreBananas, no worries, thanks for asking though Flowers

It’s absolutely fine for you to like and admire her, but cut yourself the required amount of slack. She has resources beyond the wildest dreams of most people to help her stay fit, look amazing and dress beautifully. That most normal people can’t manage what she does isn’t a moral failing, it’s purely down to it not being their full time job to look amazing, say very little and dress very beautifully.

Macncheeseballs · 03/10/2021 20:30

She's a bit stepford

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 03/10/2021 20:30

She does seem pretty together. Plenty to admire, if she resonates with you, why not. Inspiration can come in many forms.

DogFoodPie · 03/10/2021 20:31

I like Kate but I always get the feeling she is like that saying about a swan, graceful and poised on the surface but paddling furiously underneath.

As long as you're sure. Xxx💝💝💝

She's got a job to do, and she's very good at it.

Have you been drinking?

MilduraS · 03/10/2021 20:33

I don't think she has much of a personality in public. The press would tear her apart if she did. I hope she's happy and has fun behind the scenes but I wouldn't trade places with her, no matter how good she looks.

I like her and follow a blog about her as it cheers me up and it'd nice to see what she wears and do on.

But I don't aspire to be her.
What a formal and stiff existence.
I like women who a more funky and true if that makes sense.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 03/10/2021 20:34

She is so bland. I don’t think she’s beautiful (but she looked good at the Bond premier).

She does nothing for me. I prefer my role models to be more in the vein of Michelle Obama, Jacinda Aherne or Oprah.

MrsJaneyLloydFoxe · 03/10/2021 20:35

What have I stumbled across here

burritofan · 03/10/2021 20:37

As a role model for marrying rich she’s exemplary, but have you tried aiming higher? The bar is at ground level.

MusicTeacherSussex · 03/10/2021 20:38

I think you could find MUCH better role models than a gurning, taciturn doll who is perpetuating a long dead monarchy at the top of a toxic class system that excuses sexual predators.
