Kate Middleton is a role model for me?

I like the way she looks, so pretty and stylish but classic and simple at the same time.

Slim but toned and athletic figure, meanwhile I could lose a few kg.

Her personality seems refined and elegant, you will never catch her sharing controversial opinions or offending views.

She seems to be a supportive wife and mother

Seems overall to live such an elegant life.

AIBU? To want to be more like Kate and see her as a role model?

@madisonbridges are you fairly well off so can ignore class and its impact?

SleepingStandingUp · 07/10/2021 23:13

@LemonPeonies

She's not "slim and toned", to me she looks severely under weight and while she may be attractive now, she already looks 15 years older because of this.
I mean, dear Lord, please can I look like this at 55!

You do know her photos will be photoshopped?
I haven't seen Kate in the flesh, but I have seen other celebrities who look very different from the photos in the press.

Certainly not well off, no. But I'm not destitute either. I think class is much more than money. My best friend is the child of a teacher and a professor and is high up in a university. They're on nearly a six figure salary. They consider themselves WC. I think that MN shows that class is more of a construct that some people require to navigate or measure themselves by. With regards to this thread, people would say that CM started her life as WC but she's going to be the mother of the Queen of the United Kingdom. So class is mutable and if that's so, why is it so important to people? No one has to be defined by how they start out. WC or MC or UC. I don't think any are something to be proud of. They are not who you are as a person.

Oh, give it up. She looks exactly the same on recordings. No one's photoshopping all those. 😂

She still definitely doesn't look 55

She looks her age. Like a woman in her 40s. Which is what she is.

As someone a month older than her, I'd like to defend that she's definitely still I her 30s and will be for ages 😂😂

@Blossomtoes

She was always going to marry a rich toff!

Of course she was. The person who really punched above her weight in the marriage stakes was her mother. Imagine having to start work at 16 because your parents couldn’t afford teacher training college, even with a full grant, and ending up married to a multimillionaire and grandmother to a future king. Now that’s what I call a fairy tale!

Meanwhile in a parallel universe, her parents had a small windfall, enough for her to pursue her dreams. She trained as a teacher and met Bob. She still had 3 children and took a long career break. She named her first daughter Catherine who took after her father, being fairly stout and rotund but highly intelligent and caring. On the day Prince William married Genevieve, she and Catherine watched it with together as her daughter had a day off from the University where she le tired in paleontology. Over the shop brought afternoon tea, Carole wondered what it would be like to be the mother of a princess.

I look up to her just for the way she wear those high heels Grin

Samcro · 08/10/2021 09:48

she is only 39. why are people saying she is in her 40's

PeriChristmas · 08/10/2021 10:13

@madisonbridges

I've never seen anyone in real life bother about class like MNers.
🤣

What’s the difference? It’s a matter of months, no?

Ah carry on then 😅

Rainydaypuddles · 08/10/2021 11:13

I like Kate - but the reality is, we don’t really know her.

We don’t know what she is really like or what her struggles are.

Thank you very much. We are NOT rounding up the future queen's age until we're approaching something cool like 70

A child of a teacher and a professor is as squarely middle class as they come.

Who’s the child of a teacher and a professor?

I agree. But he says he isn't because he votes Labour and he doesn't want to be MC as that would be a betrayal of his political roots.
