Special character?
It's nothing special and nor is the half brick half plaster? Cement? Next to it.

It looks as nice lilac as it did cream.

Strawbsaturno · 29/09/2021 18:06

Yes me too, it’s not too much different than the cream colour in2014

Wazzzzzzzup · 29/09/2021 18:07

Weird considering number of styles and periods on that street.
If anything, I would try to do something about the pebble dash on other houses😂 now THAT is an eyesore

ChristmasWithDC · 29/09/2021 18:08

It’s just a house painted a completely normal colour. I live in a conservation area and my house is green, next door is pink. How is this news and why on earth does the council care about it?

JaninaDuszejko · 29/09/2021 18:11

It's a much more attractive house than either of its neighbours! I prefer the lilac to the cream but both are fine.

Silkiescatz · 29/09/2021 18:11

Looks fine to me and a fairly standard house and not that unusual a colour. Its not like the surrounding houses are exactly beautiful either.

shouldistop · 29/09/2021 18:11

Much nicer than the cream. I bet he has a nosey neighbour who has complained because they need to get a life.

inmyslippers · 29/09/2021 18:11

Looks lovely

BruceAndNosh · 29/09/2021 18:13

It's in bloody Watford.
And judging from the houses on either side of it, the Oxhey Village Environment Group is not dealing with particularly special architecture

WimpoleHat · 29/09/2021 18:14

It’s council bureaucracy at its finest….

PooWillyNameChange · 29/09/2021 18:15

It's a 1902 house not an original Tudor. I think they're being ridiculously uptight, it looks lovely and neat.

freshcarnation · 29/09/2021 18:16

Smashing

WeeWelshWoman · 29/09/2021 18:17

Yes, agree! The houses either side don't look like they have 'special character'. It seems a bit officious to reject the lilac. No problem with the previous cream, but the lilac is hardly offensive.

It's such a subdued lilac. I don't get the fuss at all. It's lovely and understated.
Watford is such a shithole. It could do with some colour.

TheVanguardSix · 29/09/2021 18:20

Just saw the expanded photo with the other houses. Christ! The POS to the right of the lilac house... why isn't anyone complaining about that turdpile? It looks like a full litterbox. And that's me being nice.

Snoozer11 · 29/09/2021 18:20

If you showed me the colour and said you were going to use it to paint your entire exterior, I'd have baulked at the suggestion.

But it actually looks really smart! Much better than the cream look it previously was.

I love it.

FWBNC · 29/09/2021 18:21

I FAR prefer the cream & I think the council are right trying to protect the look of the local area. The lilac is bloody awful.

rocklamp · 29/09/2021 18:22

That looks lovely. I wish our house was painted.

AlfonsoTheDinosaur · 29/09/2021 18:22

I much prefer the lilac to the drab beige it was before.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 29/09/2021 18:28

I absolutely love it. BTW, Does anyone know what that street with the multi coloured houses in Bristol is called?

mcmooberry · 29/09/2021 18:30

I agree, so much nicer than the awful cream.

knittingaddict · 29/09/2021 18:31

I hate it because I hate lilac/purple, but I think it's a bit precious of the council. I like to see a bit of individuality on the streets.

What look 😂 It's horrible street...
AWellReadWoman · 29/09/2021 18:39

I love it.

SylvanasWindrunner · 29/09/2021 18:41

I think the lilac is a big improvement tbh
