To think this is more than a hangover?

I had a very heavy weekend which isn't usual for me. I was visiting my friend in Manchester, Friday night I had a bottle of wine - bed by 1 am. Saturday night I had a lot more, not sure exactly how much but consisted of over a bottle of wine and numerous vodkas - bed by 4 am. Sunday night I had 2 and a half bottles of wine - bed by 5 am. I haven't been right since. Even today I've woken up from a dead sleep, sweating and so so tired. I am 29 and have had a two day hangover before but never this bad, I have no motivation to do anything. I feel like my mental as well as physical health has really taken a hit.

AIBU to think this isn't normal to still be feeling the effects 3 days later?

Your age is probably just catching up with you Grin my tolerance keeps dropping the older I get!

GloomAndDoom · 29/09/2021 10:18

I had a very heavy weekend which isn't usual for me is this a typo? If not then yeah it could easily still be a hangover. Was it red wine? That stuff suddenly became like poison to me at about that age.

Sunday night was red wine actually!

That’s a lot of alcohol with no break in between - it probably is still a hangover!

Try lots of water, fruit, and a good diet for the next few days, & reset. Fresh air, too.

RampantIvy · 29/09/2021 10:22

Two and a half bottles of wine Shock
That is a lot of alcohol in one go - at least 22 alcohol units.

It might be alcohol poisoning.

DobieGrayshark · 29/09/2021 10:23

I’ve had many heavy weekends over the years and I do mean heavy but three nights in a row like that would have killed me even when I was younger.

GloomAndDoom · 29/09/2021 10:23

I'd take it steady next time you have red wine, just have a little bit and see how you feel the next day. It was so weird like I'd suddenly gone allergic or something!

dudsville · 29/09/2021 10:23

That's a lot. You've undermined yourself. Get some fresh air, a little exercise, some aspirin, water and healthy food in you.

GloomAndDoom · 29/09/2021 10:23

And yeah agree with PP, that's a lot especially if you aren't used to it.

PinkFootstool · 29/09/2021 10:25

Nah, I'd probably be this rough but I'm 40 🤣

Have a hot shower finished off with a cold blast - especially if you can get the cold water on your scalp. Plenty of tea / coffee and something stodgy for breakfast.

That said, have you checked your temperature?

middleager · 29/09/2021 10:26

That is a lot of alcohol and without a break.

Do you work? How on earth are you squaring this with your employer?

Sounds like it could be alcohol poisoning.

Myusernameisnotmyusernameno · 29/09/2021 10:28

I'm 40 and hangovers are horrendous3-4 day events these days. Just from one night out. 3 nights like that and I'd be dead.

Pedalpushers · 29/09/2021 10:29

Anxiety will last for days. You've also disrupted your sleep (alcohol sleep is really low quality) so you'll be feeling the effects of 3 days of sleep deprivation. Plus that is a LOT of alcohol, at least 50 units, likely more like 60 over 3 days, I'm not judging heavy drinking as I'm guilty as anyone but I'm surprised that after a 4am night of wine and vodkas you could stomach another 2.5 bottles of red wine!

BeepingBB · 29/09/2021 10:32

I'd be vomiting for 48hrs after that. That's a shit load of alcohol.

You could have mild alcohol poisoning.

Get some rehydration sachets and smoothies and give it another couple of days.

eandz13 · 29/09/2021 10:32

I'm like this after just 1 night of drinking at the same age. I have no idea how I used to pull all weekenders in my late teens! I experience heightened anxiety and feel depressed for a few days following too. I just don't really drink at all now because of it! I'd drink plenty if I didn't feel like a mopey, weepy sack of shit afterward.

Mrsjayy · 29/09/2021 10:34

Yeah it's the alcohol that was a heavy weekend I'd still be feeling it on Friday I've I drank all that!

candycane222 · 29/09/2021 10:35

Ive had hangovers (after a lot less than that!!) bad enough to tip me into a bout of anxiety so yes, you probably have walloped your mental health as well. IME you just have to make yourself press on in the day, and get as much sleep as possible at night, till it passes. And for goodness sake take it as a lesson that you are much too old for that kind of carry-on!!! You were quite lucky not to have ended up in A&E.

ketoandhashbrowns · 29/09/2021 10:41

I work but am on annual leave this week. I've literally been lying around doing nothing but sleep basically since I got home on Monday.

I only ask as I used to drink heavily of a weekend in my 20s, but could never manage work if I'd been drinking.

When I got to my 30s I couldn't take the hangovers, but this sounds more than that, maybe an overload to the system?

rbe78 · 29/09/2021 10:45

Yeah, just a hangover I reckon - an early welcome to being in your 30s!

I was also about your age when red wine became poison to me. More than a glass now and I have a banging headache for the whole of the next day (but can happily drink a bottle of white wine with no issues). Absoloutely devastating, I love red wine!!

Mamamamasaurus · 29/09/2021 10:47

Welcome to aging OP. if I'd drunk that much, I'd be in a gutter somewhere.

girlmom21 · 29/09/2021 10:51

Yeah that's definitely a hangover. Get up, showered, drink lots of water, eat some food, get out for a short walk.

AwkwardPaws27 · 29/09/2021 10:51

Is there any chance you could be pregnant? I thought I had a rough hangover after my 30th birthday; almost throwing up as I walked in the doors of a macdonalds (hoping to get a hangover cure!) on day 3 was what made me test Blush

Wazzzzzzzup · 29/09/2021 10:57

It's an age thing. Gone are the times i could seink like that all weekend with minimum sleep, dance nights away and not need 3 days to recover.
Welcome to your nearly 30s lol

EmmalineC · 29/09/2021 11:02

Sounds like mild alcohol poisoning. Get some fresh air, drink plenty of water and rest.

I'm not going to be judgmental because we have all most of us have been there.
