I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

Don’t make assumptions about what I stand for politically or whether I’m WC or whether only WC can have an opinion on her.

She doesn’t need permission from you or anyone to express her anger to fellow activists.

The fact that anyone would base their political direction based on their personal dislike of how she expresses herself is laughable.

No need for male sexism with how women are trashing her bc she called Boris scum, come off it.
Ok you go for it. Labour will never get elected in its current form, but if you think calling other politicians scum is a vote winner, and leaving the country to the Tories because it's just so important to tell it like it is... well you'll find yourself in 2030 and the Tories will still be in power. Oh well.

Kittii · 26/09/2021 23:41

It's pretty telling when the main argument in defense of AR is "well Boris is awful too" 🙄

Leibham · 26/09/2021 23:42

@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow Sorry I’m not sure I follow. Do you think I vote Labour or am saying that I hope Labour win?

sst1234 · 26/09/2021 23:43

@Viviennemary

They might as well elect Vicki Pollard as deputy leader. Raynor is a joke.
This is the thing. It’s so incredibly insulting to women and the so northern working classes, as they term goes, that this caricature of a woman is put up as role model. As though this is what all working class women are like. A parody and satire from 20 years ago.
Leibham · 26/09/2021 23:43

@Kittii

He’s not ‘awful too’ he’s so much worse. So yes, that’s valid.

Leibham · 26/09/2021 23:45

There are many Labour women some of you pearl clutching women would approve of.

Terribly insulting to other women that you only use AR as an example of a Labour rep then?

SpindleWorld · 26/09/2021 23:46

I would very much like a non-misogynist Labour Party to win.

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 26/09/2021 23:46
@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow Sorry I’m not sure I follow. Do you think I vote Labour or am saying that I hope Labour win?
I think you're saying your a Labour voter. If you're a Labour voter who doesn't want Labour to win then I admit, I'm confused. Perhaps you could explain what it is you do want?

Leibham · 26/09/2021 23:48

@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow

I’ve literally said nothing of the sort.

People cannot fathom that you can defend AR without being a Labour voter.

Kittii · 26/09/2021 23:51

No, saying Boris is awful isn't a valid argument in favour of Angela Rayner.

I would vote for Rosie Duffield as she can see through the Emperor's new clothes in terms of women's rights. Not sure there is any other female labour MP I would support.

twelly · 26/09/2021 23:54

AR's comments were directed at many tories - they were not at a specific comment that the PM made. Dragging up a comment from the past to justify behaviour is illogical and serves no purpose. By using the language she did she has become the focus and the issues have been sidelined.

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 27/09/2021 00:00

I have to admit, I really don't understand why someone would support her today unless they really thought it would help Labour get elected. But I do find shouty aggressive politicians scary tbh. I really don't want to live in a country where this hatred and vitriol towards political opponents is considered ok. And I'm pretty certain that this kind of thing won't get Labour elected, which I personally think is a shame. But if you're not a Labour voter, why are you happy about this? Are you a Tory and happy to see Labour make themselves unelectable?

Leibham · 27/09/2021 00:01

@twelly

How awfully convenient.

She must apologise, but he doesn’t have to basically. That’s ‘in the past’ argument.

No, it’s very relevant to many people what his openly wrongful comments were, so he should be held to the same standard of apologising.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 00:04

@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow

Do you think your questions will somehow ‘outsmart’ me into confessing I’m secretly a Labour supporter. Have you read my comments upthread? Please do so and your earnest enquiries will be put to rest.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 00:10

I doubt TRUE Labour supporters, would be put off voting Labour because of one woman calling Tories scum.

Hence why many Tories probably vote for BJ even though they find him and his cabinet to be idiots, because they want a Conservative party to rule.

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 27/09/2021 00:11

@Leibham
I haven't studied all your posts in detail no, and no, life is too short to go back to read them. I'm not trying to get you to admit anything, I just don't understand why you would defend her if you weren't a Labour voter. But Im sure you have a good reason so I'll leave you to it. Just a suggestion tho : it helps if other people have a clue what you're talking about and not just yourself.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 00:16

@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow are you still going?

Yes I have explained clearly to all, if you can’t be bothered to read it that’s fine.

OhWhyNot · 27/09/2021 00:18

Labour voters that always vote Labour are not enough to get Labour into power

Labour need to win over floating voters this isn’t anything new

WaltzForDebbie · 27/09/2021 00:21

Problem is that she's looking down on people who voted for him by making that comment. Not a good way to win people over. Hmm

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 27/09/2021 00:22

@Leibham
Wow. You seriously expect me to go back over the thread to find out what you mean? Why do you think you are that important?
This is just crazy.

Dfhugdhvdnjrs · 27/09/2021 00:32

UTTERLY UNELECTABLE.
God imagine if labour had been in power these past 18 months. They are pathetic and think voters give a shit about their infighting. For a party of the people they are so out of touch it is shocking.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 00:36

@Theythinkitsalloveritisnow

You repeatedly asked me questions I’d already answered, if you were really that interested you could have just read them. I don’t give a shit whether you do or don’t.

Just stop it now.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/09/2021 00:52

Rayner might have referred to Johnson and his cabinet as 'scum' but what does that say about the people who voted for them in their droves.

Nothing except they voted for a scumbag.🤷‍♀️ Holding strong opinions on a country's leader doesn't mean those opinions extend to their electorate.

Nat6999 · 27/09/2021 01:44

What she said was spot on & also what Dawn Butler said in Parliament a few weeks ago about Boris being a liar. Labour needs to call the Tories out for everything that they are doing to wreck this country, all the fiddles, backhanders, giving mates multi million pound contracts, the lies & mismanagement, if it was the other way round you could bet that the Tories would be shouting like mad.

Lightswitch123 · 27/09/2021 07:37

Bottom line is she has resoundingly proven she is not fit for a major political stage.

If you insist on focusing on her being a woman as the problem (which is NOT the issue- its her conduct not her sex). But if you do want to make being female the debate- compare her for a moment to the equivalent females abroad or at home- Merkel, Ahern, Clinton, May etc... Can you imagine any of them making a patronising gutter fuelled hate speech like that?

They just wouldn't. There are better more skillful and more powerful ways to express yourself.

Raynor is just not in the same league and her latest ranting has unequivocally cemented that in the public eye.

The fact she also lacks insight into the sale of her misstep is just mind-boggling.
