Just that really. Currently listening to LBC radio. And they should be held to account for the death of the woman last week who couldn’t reach an hospital for 6 hours, following what would normally have been a much shorter journey. An oncologist also couldn’t get to work, where she was surely urgently needed. I understand they have a message, but what if they do more help than good? What do you think?

Their founder says stopping people getting to work will get the attention they need. I just disagree. They are targetting ordinary people not the govt. So Boris will shrug and say what awful people they are and do nothing. Why should he, he's not being inconvenienced?

It's a win-win for those in power.

They will end up like Extinction Rebellion, with a complete disconnect with the general public. Blocking the M25 was utterly ridiculous and dangerous. I really hate the police time and resources that they hoover up - the general public suffer again when all the police are busy with these idiots and unable to police the community.

I have a friend who is a supporter. His posts on FB are getting more ridiculous.

This week he has posted about people having their freedoms removed for being unvaccinated. Then about these numpties.

Now I generally support the right not to be vaccinated, but his attitude made me think 'oh for god sake'. And I couldn't help but think about the insulate guys and how new build properties have issues with lack of ventilation and over heating because they are almost over insulated. And again its his attitude.

Basically he is an anti-establishmentarian rather than particularly having beliefs. He is a 40 something year old rebel. And his attitude is hostile and alienating and is liable to damage the causes he supports rather than encourage awareness.

I've known him years and he's really well meaning but totally clueless about how to encourage people to get on board with his causes.

Ironically I broadly support what he thinks, but he has this ability to make it annoying and want to say the opposite!!!

They would do better by learning how to better communicate with people. But then I suspect it wouldn't get them the attention or drama they seek as part of the lifestyle and being able to say they hate the state.

Cos thats what I really think its about - and if they weren't protesting about this, they'd simply be on a different bandwagon.

Nice guy, just looking for a purpose and cause in life.

Utterly ridiculous. I support freedom of speech and right to protest.
Creating life threatening situations, or inconveniencing tens of thousands is just wrong. People who have long awaited for nhs appointments, job interviews etc.
If you live in my little patch of England, there is simply no other way to go. We went to a wedding by public transport last week just cos we couldn't risk not getting there.

If I was thinking about getting my house insulated, these people definitely have put me off rather than encourage me. I really can’t see doing something as dangerous as this is helping their cause at all.

Totally agree.

What they are doing is so dangerous. Preventing people getting to hospital. And basically making people prisoners in their cars without water. Its so so dangerous. Police need to be on top of them. No matter their cause or how right they are. They don't have the right to do that. I didnt realise someone had died. How awful.

How they can listen to Chris talk about his mother in such a heart wrenching way and not show true remorse, is actually quite chilling. Some of them really seem to be insane, like cult members in their unflinching belief that they are doing the right thing.

When XR were on the rampage a few years back I made a committment not to recycle anything for a year and largely managed it for a long while, though I've gradually slipped back into doing it because of the convenience factor. I also used to leave the taps running as much as possible.

I don't really want to start that nonsense again but this road-blocking bullshit has angered me every bit as much as the XR twats disrupting public transport, so I think I will have to.

I know wasting water and not recycling aren't exactly what "Insulate Britain" are protesting about but it feels like the only action I can reasonably take. At least it's sticking two fingers up to the environmentalist thugs in a general sense.

Some things are easier, I try to buy things that have a lot of "food miles" and processed stuff because often they're cheaper than buying local/organic stuff.

These people are basically well heeled self proclaimed progressives who don’t have real jobs or complexity in their lives. They patronise the general public by lecturing. And lecturing is all it is. It makes 0 difference to climate change what UK public does. An now the action of this scummy group has led to the death of someone’s mother/sister/daughter. It’s an unlawful killing.

I think they’re twats (apologies for the language).

I think the police should start doing their jobs properly and deal with these protesters instead of dancing/whatever with them.

I also think anyone arrested multiple times at these sort of events should get an automatic prison sentence. Drastic maybe, but I’m interested in law and order (and potentially saving lives) not pandering.

I’m probably older than most posters on MN and I’m sure my views will be unpopular, but ultimately you reap what you sow.
