Just that really. Currently listening to LBC radio.
And they should be held to account for the death of the woman last week who couldn’t reach an hospital for 6 hours, following what would normally have been a much shorter journey. An oncologist also couldn’t get to work, where she was surely urgently needed.
I understand they have a message, but what if they do more help than good?
What do you think?

Where is your 1% figure from?

My point is there is still a huge amount we could do. And we aren’t. And we won’t until it is enshrined in policy and legislation. The government haven’t done that. They haven’t listened for years. My point is. Direct action and civil disobedience is the only option left. Which is why I support it.

Look it up, that is UK contribution to global emissions.

Still not answered the question (not that you are obliged to), what difference does it make whatever we do in this country. Yes it might make people feel better, but what difference does it make to global emissions.

until they endanger people's lives with their hypocrisy

Belle you've already said, in essence, that you don't care that people die because of car use (either die directly, or because of illnesses caused, or because of contributing to climate change, which is already killing people now), because in your view car use is "essential".

Glass houses / stones.

LemonSwan · 23/09/2021 18:55

A doctor that smokes, that tells you to give up because it’s going to kill you, is still right

Its not like that though is it.

Its like a partner being physically, financially and emotionally abusive to you because you smoke and they want you to stop, but they haven't bothered quitting themselves.

nottoday3000 · 23/09/2021 18:57

I surprised the people haven't got out of their cars and moved them or tried to, I know my partner would....he would be arrested while they sit on the m25 ...it's terrifying watching them imagine your children in the car while everyone stops suddenly it's murderous

BelleOfTheProvince · 23/09/2021 19:01

Cars are essential in the current world we live in.
Feel free to build infrastructure to support people not to use one.
At the moment that's not the world we live in, nor do this terrorist groups actions bring us closer to that world.
Currently lying on the motorway like a cunt doesn't put food on the table.
Driving to work does.
Therefore it's not equivalent.

But yeah, I'm the hypocrite.
Enjoy your bacon sandwich in your 4x4 though, won't you.

BelleOfTheProvince · 23/09/2021 19:10

If the planet is to be saved it will be by scientists, driving to work everyday to come up with energy efficient solutions.

By farmers adapting their practice.

By the government financially rewarding the above methods.

Idiots causing pile ups don't figure. That's just your ego talking.
You are insignificant.
People are working on it. They'll do it without you, but they'll probably get in done quicker without money and resources being used up on pointless, dangerous stunts.

lioncitygirl · 23/09/2021 19:13

They are absolutely bloody stupid idiots. I wish they would put them all in jail or something. That poor woman.

AGreenerShadeofKale · 23/09/2021 19:13

Well said Belle.

@MercyBooth thanks for posting that GMB interview, that guy is a rip roaring bell end. He definitely gets this year's award for worst campaign spokesperson. He did them no favours what so ever. He had zero credibility what so ever, completely unable to think on his feet and reverted to is couple of prepared rant points. He wasn't even dressed to convey any credibility. He looked and behaved like someone who should have been loitering around a university campus selling copies of the socialist worker.
As much as I don't care for Richard Madley I was quite impressed with how he stuck into him and tore him apart. All 3 of them did in fact. I think if he hadn't walked off Richard would have have told him to get off in the end

Cars are essential in the current world we live in

Breathable air is essential in the current world we live in.

A temperature that isn't too high to support agricultural and mammalian life is essential in the current world we live in.

If you are OK with death and destruction being caused by things you think are "essential" (even though many people disagree with you), then why shouldn't others think the same way about defending what they think is essential?

BelleOfTheProvince · 24/09/2021 07:58

If clean air is so essential why are your lot causing cars to idle on the M25?

I didn't realise that lying on the M25 caused clean air. I must redo my science GCSE.

Knobs.

As I said. You and the virtue signalling idiots are irrelevant. You are like children who have been given an important 'job' by a parent who's had enough of you.

LOOK at ME. I'm HELPING.

The real work is being done by others. You just want to take the credit when people more proactive than you find the practical solutions to the problems.

LoislovesStewie · 24/09/2021 09:25

I shouldn't worry about cars causing pollution; at this rate we won't have any petrol in a short while. Then we will have food shortages, and we will starve to death.(After the riots etc that will inevitably break out)

BelleOfTheProvince · 24/09/2021 10:21

No prizes for guessing whose actions caused us to be late for our specialist medical appointment this morning. Will have a massive knock on effect for patients for the rest of the day as we were the first appointment of the day(and made an already upsetting situation worse)
Thanks dickheads.

So many words, so little substance. As usual, a ton of virtue signalling but no actions that actually make a difference. As long as you fell better though eh…
BelleOfTheProvince · 24/09/2021 10:37

All the more reason police shouldn't be on babysitting idiots duty.

I agree, I can't fathom out the idiotic thought processes of people who blockade motorways. Just read that they are now blocking the Port of Dover.
BelleOfTheProvince · 24/09/2021 11:00

Well judging by the idiots defending them on here they think they are heroes.
No substance to them at all. Hypocrites who do more harm than good for their cause.
The only rational explanation is they are in government pay to destabilise the environmental movement.

derxa · 24/09/2021 12:01

Yes we can learn so much about farming from the USA

LoislovesStewie · 24/09/2021 12:38

I've just read on the BBC News about an 82-year-old woman who has been taking part in the M25 blockade. Apparently she talks to drivers to 'de-escalate' the situation and then encourages them to call an ambulance if they need to get to an urgent hospital appointment, as the ambulance will always get through. So, instead of allowing people to go about their ordinary, lawful activities she lectures them and tells them to divert ambulances which might be needed for seriously ill people.
I feel like I live on a different planet.
BTW, if I need to take my adult child to hospital if he has a crisis due to T1 diabetes I won't stop for any idiot like this. This is their warning!
