Whatever happened to…

Inspired by another thread!

Whatever happened to certain celebs? So many were really quite popular/successful/infamous/famous at one point only to seemingly disappear off the
face off the earth. Where did they go?

Insert the missing celeb. I’ll go first with a few:-

  • Sam Smith (sang Black and Gold- love that song)
  • Samantha Mumba (Irish singer)
  • Shola Ama (You Might Meet Somebody singer)

Go!

Escourtie · 18/09/2021 20:13

@Flawedperfection Apparently Shola Ama is still in the music business

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 18/09/2021 20:15

the only one of those three I know what has happened to with any degree of certainty is Joe Jackson, who died a cfew years ago. I had an evening on the Youtubes listening to his music and remembering how great it was and generally mourning. Sad times.

Wait, are we talking about Joe Jackson who sang Stepping Out and Is She Really Going out With Him, among many others? He's still very much alive.

Joe Jackson, father of Michael (and his siblings, of course), died in 2018 - is that who you meant? AFAIK, he was always a manager/producer, though - never a singer/musician himself (or at least not 'known for' that).

Cottagepieandpeas · 18/09/2021 20:33

@DoubleShotEspresso

Tony Slattery Rob Newman Dina Carroll Selina Scott Caryn Franklin Amanda de Cadanet Dani Behr Josie Lawrence

These are a few I remember being very prominent years ago but rarely hear of them now....

Rob Newman still does some stand up / radio / writes books. I ❤️ him 😄

@DoctorTwo

I don’t think Joe Jackson is dead!

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Jackson_(musician)

Did some great songs

Cottagepieandpeas · 18/09/2021 20:44

Snap @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Joe Jackson alive and well 👏 👏 👏

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/09/2021 20:45

Pete Waterman was in Chester Cathedral with a model railway the other week

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2021 20:58

Andi Peters does indeed appear on QVC guest presenting the foodie hours.

What's Jerry Springer up to now ?

ChrissyPlummer · 18/09/2021 21:01

Andy Crane presents a show on Greatest Hits Radio.

I used to live not far from Jodie Marsh and saw her a few times in my town.

Caprice - she was everywhere at one point. What happened to her?

FrankButchersDickieBow · 18/09/2021 21:06

@Flawedperfection

* Saints
I can answer the All Saints one. I love them. They have had 2 successful albums. Red flag and testament. Both brill. Give them a listen. They still tour but haven't since Nicole had her baby and lockdown etc.

I 😍 them haha.

I'm not some mad stalker. I promise.

toconclude · 18/09/2021 21:08

@BrisbaneandGone
There's only an eight year age gap, so not ' much older'. She's 44!

DoctorTwo · 18/09/2021 21:10

Phew @Cottagepieandpeas and @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll I'm so happy about that. So which Joe Jackson obituary did I read? Shock

Caprice is ALWAYS in the Dm Sidebar of Shame at the moment. She's very often pretending to run. Tis very curious.
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/09/2021 00:07

So which Joe Jackson obituary did I read?

Presumably Michael Jackson's dad - he died in 2018, aged 89.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 19/09/2021 00:10

Were there no pictures with the obituary you read? Aside from the 26-year age gap, there's a glaringly obvious different physical characteristic between the two men Grin

DoctorTwo · 19/09/2021 01:30

:o :o :o @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll like I said, I'm glad he's still with us. Stepping Out is a great tune. I got it wrong, happy to be set straight.

Spidey66 · 19/09/2021 01:38

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow

A couple for the oldies, BA Robertson and Joe Jackson. And weirdly enough, Elvis Costello.
I saw Elvis Costello live about 6 years ago.
Spidey66 · 19/09/2021 01:41

@Gertie75

Craig something, the guy who won the first big brother. The guy who played Curly Watts in Corrie and the woman who played Cindy Beale in Eastenders.

I'm a bit tipsy which doesn't help me remember names.

Michelle Collins was on Corrie about 2 years ago playing Leanne's mum
Spidey66 · 19/09/2021 01:45

@50ShadesOfCatholic

Daniel Day Lewis quit celebrity decades ago. He moved to Italy and became a shoe maker.
Really? Wow, that's a change of direction!
mrselizabethdarcy · 19/09/2021 01:58

Terry Christian
Dani Behr (sp?)
Amanda deCadenet
Mandy Smith
All popular in my time but never hear of them now

FatLarrysBand · 19/09/2021 02:40

Eliza Dushku is married to a billionaire, so I think she's probably ok.

Daniel Day-Lewis was briefly a cobbler, the best part of 20 years ago. He's made films since then, although it really does appear that he's now retired for good, now - presumably to give someone else a crack at the Oscars.

Andi Peters made a fuckton of money as a producer.

Plumtree391 · 19/09/2021 02:44

Nick Berry
Neil Pearson
Poly Styrene and the X-ray Specs

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 19/09/2021 02:56

Poly Styrene passed away a few years ago, of cancer I think.

MoppaSprings · 19/09/2021 02:59

@MinnieJackson

ahh thank you *@MadisonAvenue*! what about blink,182? I heard Derek was in a bad way.
I think you mean Mark, he has cancer 😞.
FatLarrysBand · 19/09/2021 03:11

Dani Behr sells houses in LA.

I distinctly remember a billboard with her trapping a football under her stiletto, which said something like 'Pointin to Giggs, Giggs to Ferdinand, Ferdinand scores!' which was a reference to the fact that she'd shagged a fair few players. I believe it was promoting her radio show, so she must have okayed it. Wouldn't get that now.

Emmgrem · 19/09/2021 03:39

Andi Peters is on any and decs Saturday night takeaway all the time too

I'd like to know about Katy Hill and Philippa Forrester
